I have been getting storage units for 3 years now and have not lost money yet. To be fair, I get paid to clean out units that look like it's just trash. $100 for a 5x5 $200 for a 5x10 and so on. I also get free dumping and get to keep anything I can scrap or resale. I got a 5x10 unit last week that had 3065 pounds of trash. $800 in scrap and a 2016 vitacci eagle 150cc scooter with 318 miles , title and keys. I put gas in it and it started up 1st try. I sold it for $1000 3 days later. That's $2000 and it cost me $20 in gas.

Yes you have to be there very early to sometimes get a storage unit that's far away I always believe in being up very early when it comes to good storage units and be the first one in the door

Seems weird that you can win a unit and the owner can wait until the 11th hour, then still swoop in and majorly inconvenience you. I understand that up until the items is sold, but good grief, the company should draw the line before you start coming to get the contents. (BTW, that would probably be my luck on the first unit I bought Lol.)

So sorry that happened to you guess you cant win em all. Hopefully you can use the towing costs as a write off on your taxes at least.

It is a nice trailer And you are right you should have been up at 4 in the morning But knowing him he'd be cranky

May have been a Blessing, not getting unit,, You could have had a load in the trailer. and no vacation time off. Make sure you have a Hitch Lock on your trailer. It will get stolen. Oh Thank God he could tow your trailer too, Amen. FL has tons of thieves... So glad you did not have to leave it. Truthfully not sure if a hitch lock would protect you from thieves 😢 Had you done a vehicle safety and fluid check before heading out? That can be a Costly lesson. You may want to call around to find out weights and etc for your truck. May be ok. My friends never had issue with their 1500 pulling a 38' or 40' Trailer... And your vehicle looks close to same age of truck they have. Was also told their truck could handle a horse trailer too... Didn't you say your truck is a 2500? Do some checking. Sorry yours plans go well. Thank God you made it home safe.

I didn't watch the whole video, but I don't understand driving over 2 hours to pick up a storage unit that you, seemingly, hadn't purchased. Was it a conditional sale or something? I'm not going to pick something up until it's mine & the financial transaction is complete. The few units I've purchased the former owner is forfeited from ownership of the unit. Maybe it's a state law difference? I live in Texas.

If you need a cheap truck or trailer you could go to a government auction And maybe they get some very good vehicles and some very good stuff you could buy reasonable But you only get so many hours to look at everything as is where it is
