Gen 3 graphics are under appreciated, i very much find them my favorite Pokémon graphics of all time

I think emerald is so good because it epitomizes the Adventure aspect of Pokémon, so many different biomes. It has has a very natural feel and the cities intertwined with the natural world. Many routes are large and have trails that lead away from the main route with the ability to find items, berries, and secret hideouts. Many of the pokemon seem like they fit the natural environment of the Hoenn region.

heres a (probably unwanted) tiny bit of advice for nuzlockes: you dont have to risk accidentally killing your, like, route 1 bug, rodent and bird encounters, youll usually be fine if you just throw balls without weakening them

I have the same exact "second hand nostalgia" with Pokemon Platinum. Despite never playing it until pretty recent years, I still feel so nostalgic towards this game. Whenever I hear the sound font or ost of the game it gives me a warm melancholic feeling and makes me reminisce deeply on the past. Sorry for the long comment, just felt like I could relate to your nostalgia of emerald with my own nostalgia of Platinum

I remember having a sleepover at my place and my friend and I would always hide under our blankets for most of the night playing this as quiet as possible so my parents wouldn’t notice. Good times.

I just had a thought. Did they make Steven a geologist, due to the fact that the games naming scheme was based off precious stones? If so, strange that they didn't follow through with this idea. The only other one which works is Blue, and even that is debatable as his name is a player choice.

This is crazy! Earlier today I was watching your Crystal and Crystal post-game videos and checked your channel to see if you had come out with a gen 3 video yet and was slightly disappointed that you hadn't. Now here we are a few hours later and this video gets recommended to me. I was like "that's strange, how did I miss this? Oh it's brand new! Yay!"

I remember watching superskarmory all the time! Literally one day while watching his emerald playthrough, I found a copy in my sisters room (which turned out to be my misplaced cousins copy.) so strange

It's crazy how similar of an experience I had pokemon growing up. For me Emerald was the first game I'd ever seen (my older cousin let me play on a new save on time at Christmas but he pranked me and told me to hold b when my mudkip was evolving) but I loved super skarmory and munching orange and soul silver was also my first pokemon game. The second hand nostalgia hit home with me too because the game is so awesome and i just wish I grew up on it first.

Sapphire was my first Pokemon game, and emerald was my second. Don't bother playing ruby or sapphire, as they're completely incomplete compared to emerald. I will always hold emerald in a special place in my heart. I always loved the treeko line, and sceptile is my favorite pokemon of all time. I like heart gold more, but only by the tiniest amount. I hold emerald in a very special place in my heart, and will always cherish it. Mystery dungeon explorers of sky is the best Pokemon game ever in my honest opinion.

Call me a biased old man but I do believe gen 3 had the most soul in a pokemon game for its time. Aside from gen 4, this gen definitely had the best designed pokemon in the franchise tbh. That adventurous in your face music also left such an impression on me as a kid (Trumpets and Brass!!!)

I still remember till this day, it’s my cousins birthday. My aunt and uncle asked me if I wanted to sleep over, my cousin got a bunch of money for his birthday. We went to Toys R us he was gonna get a game cube and super smash. But I had my GameCube and copy over at his house already. He sees the game boy advanced SP and we remembered there was a new Pokémon’s game. He gets a Red SP and a copy of Ruby. We stayed up until like 10:30 PM (at the time that was late) laying on ground next to a charger and I just watched him play he picked Torchic for his starter. God damn that was a great night I didn’t even play I just watched him

8:47 in Pokémon Trading Card Game for the GBC, the running by holding b mechanic was first used, so they just chose not to let Gen 2 have a go at it, I guess 24:34 pretty sure you can rename your boxes in Gen 2. Or at least in Crystal, because that's exactly what I've been doing

ahhhhhh this is my fav video game of all time. i purchased this game on release day when i was 8 years old (well really my dad bought it for me) and have played it nonstop ever since. with random years of breaks but always coming home to it. it is simply a very solid game with a ton of replay value. it has also been incredibly consistent in my life and i cherish it immensely. even the color scheme used in this game alone makes me feel like a kid again. i’m so grateful to have something that makes me feel this way and whether it’s this game or not i hope you have something from your childhood that makes you feel like this game makes me :)

I was in the fight from gen 1-5 gen 3 is my favorite with 4 as an extremely close second. Emerald is the game I've spent the most time in with gen 3 being the most time spent despite hopping from game to game over time (except for XD. Haven't played it). Now I need emerald and XD to finish off my gen 3 game collection to then gather as many pokemon as I can through all the gen 3 games once I have the games. Emerald is the best even if it can't connect with Colosseum 😢

Brendan and May are basically identical, but they do have different dialogue (Brendan says he thought the Gym Leaders kid would be a boy and shit like that), they have more development in ORAS, but there are minor differences between the two.

I technically never even got passed the first fight with N in Pokemon Black, but I still feel nostalgic for the Gen 5 games, specifically from the anime and the card game. Gen 5 might not have been the game I finished (I was a dumbass kid that tried to catch N’s purloin, course I wasn’t gonna get far), but it set up my love for the franchise further into the future. Wynaut is actually not bad for a nuzlocke. Wobbuffet’s bulk is absurd, and bulk is arguably the most important quality a Pokémon can have in a nuzlocke

I just noticed the Team Aqua members wear inmate outfits. Maybe they escaped prison. 18:42 "There can only be one Makuhita!" I was told beating the Trick Master is an easy way to farm Rare Candies... guess how many Rare Candies he is giving out... 1... just 1. Never bothered until my Emerald Let's Play because in my RL cardridge I just use the Battle Tower glitch to clone 90+ at a time. I love exploids. Don't blame me if the game makes it almost required to EV train and breed for hours so I can get Battle Frontier viable pokemon. It took me 13 years to win that damn thing. I pretend May's Torkoal jumped into the water like in the anime. Or she just dropped it thinking it's a turtle and all those can swim apparently. I always pick Mach Bike because I am speed. I use Acro Bike to catch Latias or Latios. It took me 30+ minutes in my Saphire playthrough and made the worst commentary in the meantime. The ash route is great in Emerald because you can EV train for SpA. That is a good excuse to get happy encountering Skarmory. Or you get pissed because you mash buttons and accidently kill it. I caught 2 Shiny Spinda there. I sometimes clone them to transfer Rare Candies to Gen 4 and then transfer them to Gen 5 and put them into the GTS. Oh, you are a member of Team Sky? I had trouble with Flannery. All my Pokemon got seduced by her Torkoal all the time. I should stop using male only Pokemon. Dislike being forced to rely on Water Pokemon in this gen. At one point I felt like I can't get through the game without having 3+ Water Types. And they are all more useful than most non-Water Types. But I guessed I mentioned that. - Pelipper: Can Fly and Surf - Kyogre: Best Pokemon of this generation but Saphire exclusive for in-game runs - Mudkip: Best starter. Beats most gyms the easiest. Has Ice, Water, Ground, Rock, Normal and god knows what covered. Gets powerful high base power moves either through TM or level up like Ice Beam, Surf, Muddy Water, Earthquake. Can learn bunch of HMs. Also the most useful starter to use in the Battle Frontier. - Tentacool: speedy boi and god alternative water type that can be caught at high levels before evolution. Learns Surf, Ice Beam and Gigadrain (TM). Fast and hits relatively hard. Had good Special Defense. - Wailord and Relicanth: You need them to awaken the Regies because of course. - Marill: Powerful early evolution Pokemon. Huge Power is neat. With Strength and Rollout you can clear through a lot in-game. - Magikarp: Once it evolved, you can break through everything with high base power moves despite its low special. Learns Ice Beam, Flamethrower, Fire Blast, Thunderbolt, Thunder, Thrash, Strenght, Dragon Dance, Surf, Hydropump and Earthquake. But most importantly it has intimidate. Just switching him in and out can be useful. And unlike the dark type dog, it doesn't immediately die because its high stats. I think IGN had a point regarding too much water. Water Types are broken.

i love emerald too, i got 100% completion pokedex and everything on that game using a really old save file, i even got mew, deoxys, lugia and ho-oh, celebe, the 3 legendary gen 2 dogs i forgor the name of, and pretty much every other gen 3 and below legendary. i also did do a very good portion of shiny hunting in that save

Recently I got back to Pokémon Crystal and my love for Pokémon came back alongside the nostalgia and the obsessive idea of just wanting to play Pokémon the whole day. Hope you're well and do what you feel like doing hahahaha As far as I know, RU-vid kinda just """rewards"""(if you can use this word considering the amount of non paid time and work you put in your videos) channels that focus on that one thing. I see a lot of comedians talking about it, saying they used to upload sketches, standups, lipsyncs and all sort of things on their channel but the platform wasn't showing people the content. It's like the platform says, "well...they like Pokémon, WHY ARE YOU DOING SOMETHING ELSE ONCE IN A WHILE??" So...if you feel like doing another channel for Pokémon, maybe that's a good idea. I'm so glad I bought a bunch of the games before the prices started to get as rediculouse as they are these days, I'm probably sitting on like 4k worth of pokemon games and that's only considering my gen 3, 4 and 5 games, I have a bunch of gen 1 and 2 games I haven't priced and as well as all the gen 6 and 7 games which I would say don't really go for much, probably seems like I'm a horder but I honestly play all of them

i wish i didnt sell my gameboy advance sp and pokemon ruby. also my gb color and pokemon red. and my ds and pokemond diamond. and my 3ds and pokemon x. goddamn im stupid. at least i can emulate all of them on my phone with a controller, 3ds is a little rough but playable.

The teams in this game were based on two real groups of activists centered around a particular issue at the time in Japan. It was a pretty big deal. Pokemon Gen 3 will forever remain the best representation of political activism as you can kinda see where both sides are coming from but all the people involved have no idea what they are talking about and are so incompetent and extreme that giving in to their demands will only bring more harm then good.
