6:05 Old Town was destroyed as well. Yet it was rebuilt in 1950's based on old photographs and documents. It looks like old, but it actually has little bit more than 60 years.

It is in aglomeration - 3 city consisting of Gdynia ( new/harbour city), Sopot ( smaller/super climatic/party city) and Gdańsk - the oldest (it has more than 1 thousand years with incredible places to go ). Luke I was born in Poland and I am also a US citizen (lived in Chicago as a kid and came back to PL for college). Many european media show our country and nation as racist, fascist and what not. We are the ONLY country in the world that NEVER had any slave colony in any part of the world. We are the nation that brings peace to the world rather than war, chaos and any pain you can think of. Id like to thank You for showing us the way You have shown us. All those nationalist parades that are shown in the media are against terrorism and the whole refugee marathon thats going on now, also we dont want any of them in Poland. The worshipers of the so called "religion of peace" are the only ones that Poles will never tolerate and are not welcome here. No violence, no hatred, no pain. Poles have suffered as a nation that non nation can compare to us, so we are very far from that. As long as someone is a good person and polite, he/she is more than welcome here. It was the same for me in Canada when I went to a Christian elementary and high school. Us Poles were labelled as racist and stupid, really hated on by Italians and Portuguese. Polish people love and respect North America for it's multiculturalism, we come here to work and never take free shit from the government.
Hi Luke. You have nice blog :) Just one correction: Warsaw was destroyed in 85% and the old town in 95% as an act of personal revenge by Hitler' in 1944. There was an uprising on August 1st 1944 against Germans as Stalin's forces reached Vistula river. Home Army wanted to take control over Warsaw so to be hosts to Russians and not their "grateful" subjects and so the uprising started. Lasted 63 days, 180 000 people were killed while soviets stood at the opposite side of the Vistula and watched city being burned. They denied Allies pleas to allow airfields for refueling aircrafts they wanted to send with medical materials, money and ammo for the fighting city. After capitulation of the Home Army, Hitler in his personal order decreed that the city should be erased from the face of the earth. Warsaw was "liberated" by Red Army on January 19th, 1945. It was a sea of ruins and communist were not really happy to have anything rebuilt there. They were more comfortable with an idea to move the capital to Lublin at new eastern border - closer to USSR. But the outrage in Poland was so huge, that reluctantly they decided to rebuilt some parts of the city - it ended up on the Old Town part. The rest was remapped and filled with mundane socialistic blocks of flats. What was left of the original houses was leveled to make room for the monstrosity known as Palace of culture you showed at the beginning. This is a gift from Stalin, who asked people of Warsaw: do you want this great Russian building or rather a metro? Polish people answered metro, ok, I will give you this colossus, the tallest building in the country. Why? So you will always see who is ruling here now. So you see, when soviets were forced out in 1991 there was a discussion what to do with this building. Most people wanted to destroy it, but at the time socialist party was ruling and decreed it to be a national monument, to prevent demolition. So instead plan is now to have it surrounded by tall buildings of the city, because guess what: Russians are no longer ruling Poland :) As a reminder: under Russian occupation in XIX century Czar decided to built the biggest orthodox church in whole Russia in Warsaw. After freeing ourselves in 1918 of the occupation, people of Warsaw dismantled this church in 3 days. Architecture is reflecting life and nowhere it is so obvious as in Poland.

You have to check out Rzeszow some time, its such a beautiful city! There's town markets everywhere, city vibes but yet still feels like a different world. Rzeszow also has trains that can take you to Budapest etc because of it being so close to the border!

Luke old town in Warsaw was totally destroyed too during World War II. The whole city was destroyed. People rebuilt old town saving the original style. :)

And just so you know anytime you see me staying in a hostile in the Vlog, it will almost always be in the center of the town I am in, because I don't like to stay in hostels or hotels that are far outside of the center, just so you know :-) and thank you so much for watching!

I would love to make a video about this, but when I was a pole and I was not working there so I'm not 100% sure the best ways to make money while you are in Poland. But the advice I would give to you is to find a job where you make money working online, and that way you can make money anywhere in the world my friend!
