The other day I had a 5 minute long dogfight with a Yak-3 in a Bf-109 G2, we were at it for so damn long, it felt literally like the "paths of hate" cinematic if anyone has ever seen it. We both scored hits, got on each other's tail, made bullet holes, until I finally managed to destroy his engine. He made a safe landing, and I was far too battered to make it back to my base and went ahead and landed next to him. We became friends on discord after that.
The paths of hate animation is godly and extremely well executed without saying a single word, the gauges indicating fuel and running out of ammo says it all. Wishing gaijin didn't change the skin layout for the Spitfires, there's a really old PoH skin that exists for the Mk 9.
i just like how most of the time when somebody using the late BF-109s they would just be stuck in a turning battle for like 10 minutes just doing some manuvers until the enemy makes a mistake
The 109 K-4 has the most engine power of any 109 and of course still has the airbrake up its sleeve. It's time someone recognized that it's still an amazing plane to fly even if it's heavier than the G-10 and will sink your wallet if you don't have the funds to repair bullet holes and replace wings.
The K4 is my favorite plane in the game. As of right now I have 900+ battles in it. It’s just sad that the br and matchmaking forces it to be paired up with useless Ju 288s and fight P 51Hs and F2Gs every match. Thankfully though most people in this game don’t know what they’re doing, so you can probably clutch a match that should’ve been lost more often that not.
Same. It's my most played aircraft and it's for good reason. I remember playing it when it was 5.3 and before it got a 20mm and everyone hated flying it but I made it my mission to prove people wrong about the ole girl. Me I loved it and spanked in it. Still only use the 30mm because 20mm is useless and weak.
Kinda sad war thunder moment the fact that the f2g could've won had he kept the downwards spiral. He compresses less at higher speeds + he can just cut his engine.
Yea he was pretty much on the offense in that fight almost the whole time and then he ripped a flap panicked and went vertical ? Like dang, really dug himself a grave.
The day that Smarfer discovers the glory that is Ace Combat's soundtracks, is one we shall remember. And apparently, that day is today. Excellent use of Sol Squadron from Ace Combat 7, Smarfer.
@@natalo78 Before takeoff, turn on manual engine control, set prop pitch to 0℅, and turn it off. When you need an air brake, throttle down and turn it on once again.
It's actually 100% prop pitch for the airbrake. 0% prop pitch + turning the engine off (not the same as 0% throttle, which would result in no notable difference to the normal performance) would prevent the plane from losing speed too quickly in the case of an engine failure. Quite the handy trick aswell though.
I will say, in competent hands, the 109 K-4 is still a viable fighter. However, I shall live and die on the hill that I have chosen, that is: The Ta 152 H-1 is Germany's ultimate prop-fighter and _my_ personal favorite fighter of the German tech tree, and I will not be convinced otherwise.
Great piece of content! Only improvements I could recommend would be knowing when to retract flaps and the bigger one, using MEC The German air brake, perfect for overshoots and the pitch machine, an incredible amount of extra thrust at the expense of engine temperature for short-term benefits in stall climbs Unfortunately with all the super props even with all that it’s still over tiered, any P51H pilot with half a braincell can kill it easily but it’s still got a place in my heart from the early days, to 5.3, to a bit after being up tiered to 5.7 K4 my beloved
@@evangalinsky2499 It is if you want to take advantage of the incredible platform that the 109K is. Sure you can do it all default and be an average pilot, but I, Enginerd, I believe Messersmitty and anyone who knows the worth of the 109s uses MEC, because it is literally invaluable. I have nowadays focused my entire routine around the air brake and the stall climbing potential, it is second nature and results in the most intense dogfights with otherwise clear-cut better aircraft that either end instantly with my tricks or in a long drawn-out fight with a skilful pilot. It’s fantastic. This plane is a beast, and if you don’t want to take advantage of it then be my guest, but getting pissy players who want to 1v1 and then destroying them 17-0 because you’re able to master MEC, flaps and simulator controls all at once is nothing short of the most satisfying experience in this game
What a cinematic masterpiece the music plus the epic battt of who can turn faster gave me chills and goosebumps all over added with the urge to cry it's too much for me to continue like this
wow your opponents in the video are a special kind, normally the 51h and the f2g would just eat the k4 like nothing lmfao (me maining the k4 for godknows how long from, when I got it until about 1-2 years ago)
@@radudobinda8626 Lmao no its not, the F2G and P-51H are superprops, the k4 isn't not to mention both the F2G, and P-51H outclass the k4 in climb rate, manuverability, weaponry, acceleration, high altitude performance, low altitude performance, and better high speed performance. The K4 is only better in vertical maneuvers and low-speed performance. Any P-51H or F2G that dies to a K4 in a dogfight either was under the K4 by like 1000-3000 meters or is simply incompetent. Mind you both the F2G and P-51H equals, the Spitfire mk 22 (F2G equal) and mk 24 (P-51H equal) are 6.7br and 7.0br.
@@ernestorafaelguevaradelase876 Pretty much what I mean is that a lower speeds of around 200-300 km/h, the K4 will be better due to the P-51H and F2G being heavier than the K4 causing their low speed performance to suffer as a result, which in general many US aircraft have this downside.
I personally love the F2. It turns so well you can keep up with even spits and bait them into turn fights that lead into vertical spirals where they quickly lose. I use it in ground RB up to 6.7
Yup, i laugh when i see people complain about it, i dont have any really, even the easy flatspin when using the tail at low speeds, i use it to make people overshoot in a slow vertical
@@cola-warthunder idk man sounds like a skill issue. the 15mm is fantastic and the 151 one of the best 20mm in the game. maybe you are using the wrong ammo belt? try universal I was struggling a bit till my friend told me to switch to it and my experience was improved 10 fold. Also what you said about the F2 is untrue. as you get further down the 109 tree they trade turn performance for speed and honestly you can say that about most planes. with its 18.0 turn you can easily out fly most spits and all American planes who challenge you to a turn fight thinking youre a higher tree 109 not to mention with the F2 being folded most dont see it often.
@@Doc_Paradox You can't keep up with spits in later 109s? idk man sounds like a skill issue. Anyway maybe the last time you used the mg151 was before the nerf. 109s prior to the G6 are great aircraft but I don't fly them anymore due to the useless 20mil.
It probably would be heaviet and im no plane expert but wouldn't the wings have to be thicker to house the mechanics, making it bulkier, heavier, and less maneuverable along with higher drag making it slower.
Don’t let the power of editing fool you, the K-4 is a pretty bad plane compared to its BR contemporaries And no I’m not saying the plane itself is bad, I’m just saying that when it constantly needs to fight superprops that outnumber it while dealing with 288s as teammates it just can’t keep its head over the water
What i hate about the K-4 is that you must always be ON and READY, gone are the good days. Now only violence and pure undiluted murder are left in the skies above Germany, i never blink while flying the K-4 i only check my mirror. Sometimes when the dials are spinning and i am pulling a 9-12 G on my body (My white scarf tightly keeping my blood in the head.) and i faintly glimmer the reflections of my enemy that is flying a newer and stronger machine i remind myself that i flew since the start, i know the air, i know this machine. This boy from Ohio has clean nostrils, he does not have the experience. I am calm, i bank, i swirl and wave. This is the moment! I push the engine into WEP... *Sight alignment* I unleash everything upon my target's center of mass! He is torn to shreds. One check, but not for his parachute, in fact i deliberately went for the man behind the stick , i feel nothing. One check on the dials and meters, cnn and mg still high, 22 minutes of fuel, we can dance with another one. All this for 273RM a month? Best job i ever had.
I cannot be the only one who was shouting at the "super-corsair" to stop fighting in the vertical lol. Favors the 109, instead he should have kept speed up where he can actually out turn the 109 and utilize the corsair :) (in say a horizontal downwards spiral or extending down to keep its air fast over the wings) . Though if I got anything wrong please tell me! Any advice appreciated ^-^
im not pretending to know the slightest about air battles, and ive never really been able to get into them, but this is some of the most impressive gameplay i have ever seen
The second I heard "sol squadron" I immediately just have flashbacks to dogfighting Mihaly on Battle for Farbanti for the first time and how fun it was. Immediately followed by a you're f****d enemy pilot.
I always hated that I never fought anyone in neither the G-6 or the K-4. Whenever I got near an enemy, they dived to deck. Then I of course keep my energy advantage. The enemy doesn't so they all dive down on a single Reppu or Zero or Schnellbomber and by that, I should have an energy advantage to use against them. Well, I will not go into a 5v1, and of course my teammates are all dead. so I land and J out of the game because god I won't pay for the repair cost if I don't have to.
Years ago in air RB I got 7 kills, with 2 maneuvre kills in the K4 including 2 J7W1s. I once got 4 kills using the 65 rounds of the 30mm cannon. In the right hands this thing is a beast
