I got this laptop 2 weeks ago, love it. Played all of Alan Wake 2 on it. Ran like a champ. Did have a screen flickering issue pop up yesterday where the screen would blink in certain apps. Talked with customer service and we reset the bios and redownloaded some drivers and it went away. Very happy.
I was genuinely surprised it ran as well as it did. Does your laptop get really hot on the bottom? Mine gets so hot you can't really touch it and I'm not sure if it's because I put another SSD jn there.
@@gangganggang2219 I called Lenova and they walked me through some things and that issue is solved. Every once in a while I will get a white screen for a split second when I open RU-vid but that’s all.
great video, made me swap out my Legion 5 16 to the 14 inch model and I couldn't be more happy! I am honestly surpriced the 14 inch model is priced this competetively.
I got this computer two weeks ago and I agree with everything you said about this laptop. It is beautifully made, it is a powerhouse and it just works. Way better than rog 14 inch.
this is a very well made video i appreciate your efforts, i watched your 7i video when i was looking to buy the 14" slim 5 but didnt end up getting it even though the huge sale, thanks for the video
You can get a small boost by using a regular 1440p monitor which makes sense if you're using this laptop as a PC replacement. But it's really interesting to see that it does run everything in the higher native resolution.
It really does just work. I tried about 9 laptops and this was the only one that actually did what it said without burning up or having some power issue or some sort of glitchy setup. Lenovo really finished this laptop where most laptops feel like unfinished products in one way or another.
Agreed. I've used a number of "incomplete" laptops over the years and at this point I was really surprised this laptop performed as well as it did. A lot of the time I think there is just too much tech under the hood or hardware incompatibilities cause problems.
Great stuff. Looking at this laptop and this confirms everything I've worried about in terms of games. Bloodborne is more like 4-29 FPS 😂 Rough, but playable. Incredible game!
@@Payne. thanks bro. Is there anyway to install something like that now? And just bout this laptop on Amazon yesterday. Got the 16 gb ram, 4tb edition.
Depends on the game and what your expectations are. It ran Alan Wake 2, but you'll need DLSS and a lower resolution. I think it will last you a good few years at 1080p at DLSS turned on for the more demanding titles. I'll be picking up Dragons Dogma 2 this week, and I'll let you know how it runs.
@@Payne. sweet! Looking forward to the update on that. I figured for the price it wasn’t too bad. Still considering a 4070 but I hear the different is not that big. Maybe upgrade in a couple years
Hey there! Thanks for all the reviews and updates with this issue! I believe the 7i problem lied with some bios/driver issue; the stuttering seems like the computer switching randomly between the iGPU and the dGPU. Now that you have thoroughly tested both , how do you see the screen size of the 14' to use without an additional monitor? I wanted to buy a P1 G6 as a mobile workstation, but saw that the thinkpads have a really serious issue with overheating :(, spent a whole night re-researching my options and ended up deciding between the slim5 14 (the 16' looks awfull honestly, although technically makes more sense lol), and the 7i; and I would 100% would go with the slim 5, but Im afraid that the screen might be too small for photoshop (i mainly do image editing). Also, how did you see the 7i performance while working on it? I barely game, so maybe your issue wouldnt affect me so much, since I can just manually switch to balanced/performance before gaming once or twice a month :v.
Thank you for the kind words. I personally don't use the 14" to edit video, I really rely on a monitor for that. I have used a P1, P16 and P17 and the P17 overheated initially. After a firmware update and setting it to performance via the Windows power settings, the issue was resolved. The 7i was fine for editing videos, and the model I used was the 2023 one. I'm sure the most recent release is fine and I just got a dud. In the end, I love the Slim 5 for its build and versatility, it's a little workhorse.
I would strongly suggest you to stick with FULL HD with 4060 and 4070 for 14 screen, the way how nvidia divided their cards 4080 is massive 100% boost in QHD and 4K and 4090 another 25%, but the 4060 and 4070 tanks massively in QHD, basically only getting semi saved with frame generation and DLSS , but still 8GB VRAM vs 12 or 16 tanks it hard, even when not fps, textures takes time to load, far away objects are not there or slow to pop, stutters.. depending on how demanding you are, but its totally bonkers that PS 5 for one third of the price got 16gb VRAM and they are selling this 2k plus laptops with 8gb vram and have to pay 3500 to 4000 to reach that.. and basically every source confirming that 8gb vram throttles just now. today. And 16gb will be aging very well in next 4 years
Well said. It's amazing how much value to get out of a console in comparison to a mid range laptop. I'm effectively using this as a portable Xbox since a lot of Gamepass titles are cross save.
@@Payne. I was just trying Cyberpunk on a legion 5 rtx 2060 ultra preset without ray tracing and it got 40 fps in DLSS quality and 60 in DLSS performance benchmark . That DLSS is what saved these ( and now frame generation as well ), because native QHD and 4K falls apart completely ( and Ray Tracing ). 4060 should be 50% more in QHD and FULL HD, but really 4080 is a big jump with 100% performance in ray tracing and native QHD and 4K
@@Payne. Just battery life, performance away from the charging plug - I returned my 2023 Blade because of microstutters all over Windows, annoyances that you have with the laptop after so long. The ports situation, maybe? I’m this close to purchasing this but the lack of USB4 is my main concern.
Hi Payne. Great review. Thank you. I just received one myself. Legion Slim 5 Gen 8 AMD 14" RTX 4060 32gig 1tb. I find I have a whistling fan noise at low RPM's kind of like a small baby jet engine. Did you find that was the case with your review laptop. Thank you.
Hi, thank you for the kind words. I don't have that issue. It's very loud on performance mode and runs hot but I've never had any whistling noise. Does it happen on balanced mode?
@@Payne. What happens. As soon as the fan kicks in no matter what mode right at the beginning you can hear a small faint whistle noise. Almost similar to a faint whistle noise you get in your nose at rare times lol. hmm maybe, anyways. If the fans need to go faster the noise goes away, and you hear clean fans running. But if they need to stay at their lowest RPM's then that noise just sticks around pretty much always. I talked to Lenovo and their more than happy to replace the laptop. So, I am doing some battery tests to see the efficiency at power saving mode and GPU off mode to see how I like it.
@@Payne. Hi. I found out that it's the grill design that causes the tiny whistling. When I run the laptop with the back panel off for testing. The fans are nice and quiet, no whistling. Which is awesome. I don't mind fan noise but whitling you know. The grill holes are the problem. You can prevent the tiny whistle if you cover parts of the grill strategically. Which is nice. I work in a very quiet area you can hear a pin drop so... Even if you have a fridge for instance running in the room you wouldn't hear the laptops fans as much. Anyways. The laptop is pretty awesome besides that. I'm loving it. Thank You.
I just got a Slim 5 16” with a 4070 and mostly love it - just the screen is disappointing, and there’s a high pitched whine when the keyboard backlight is on. Thinking of sending it back for the 14” for the nicer screen but worried about giving up the 4070 and can’t seem to configure it in the US so it’s only available with 16GB RAM (soldered😢) and a 512GB SSD, and for a bit more than I paid for the 16” 4070/16(SODIMM)/1TB. Tough decision
@@AllenStauffer I had that one. Returned it due to the Screen. Decided to take my chances and find something better. I had a MSI 14" with an amazing IPS screen 240hz best IPS screen currently on the market. I did a Comparision to the Lenovo slim and MSI blow it out of the water. But the laptop had issues and was a little overpriced. It did have a 4060 too. I got lucky and found this one with 32gigs soldered. 32gigs is worth the solder. The OLED screen is huge even better then the MSI and a little brighter too. I'm loving it. Check some benchmarks certain 4070 a barely faster the 4060's some laptops are actually the same speed almost so... Also the AMD onboard video card is better then any intel with AV1 support as well. Intel does not have AV1. Anyways good lick.
Think im gna wait for a sale. As lenovo is currently selling this for £1800. And my local te h superstore is selling it for £1500. Which i could buy but feels overpriced for a 4060 laptop with 16gb ram, even if it does have that amazing oled.
Yeah definitely wait for a sale. After playing around with a few laptops recently I can confirm they aren't all built the same way. The Slim 5 seems to get every drop of performance from the 4060 which impressed me.
@@Payne. I've seen the slim 5 14 beating some 4070 laptops in certain games, I almost got an auros 16x 4070 model for 1200, but The oled is just too good to pass up. Crazy thing is, in the uk the 32gb model of the slim 14 is going for 2000 rrp on the lenovo site and is currently reduced to 1800. for 2000 I could probably get an omen 17 4080.
With that 14.5” screen - even if you run it at about 1080p resolution you will still have way higher PPI than running 4K on a 27” monitor. If you want to max out the FPS I would think turning down the resolution would potentially be the best option.
Absolutely. A lot of the games I'm playing run great at native resolution with DLSS on but going to 1080p doesn't impact the quality that much on a 14".
@Payne. - Did you put a thermal pad on the additional NVME SSD you installed? It looks like the thermal pad on that side just covers the Wifi card. I don't have mine yet but curious, thank you!
I didn't and I probably should have! I have this problem when gaming for a long time where Bluetooth drops out and all my peripherals disconnect, I'm now wondering if the WiFi card is overheating. I need to open the laptop back up and check if it's an Intel or a Meditek card as I've heard the latter has problems. Thanks for this comment.
Great question. You can disable Auto HDR in Windows manually or have it only activate when a game that doesn't have native HDR supports it. There is also a separate piece of software that changes colour profiles called X Rite. It won't impact your video and photo editing.
16GB is fine depending on what you're doing. If you intend on gaming while recording or any form of video editing in Premiere or Davinci then 32GB will come in handy. I personally won't purchase a laptop without 32GB as a minimum because of those reasons.
I came from the Beau Lenovo Legion Slim 5 review video and saw the comment where you mentioned your 16gb Ram had few preformance problems. I'm currently looking at buying a 16gb Ram version because we don't have a 32gb Ram option here in Croatia. I only saw positive reviews for it, but your comment concerns me tbh. Would you recommend it?
Hey Karlo, so that comment you read was a follow on from a previous comment Beau made around RAM being the issue. Nothing was tested, it was just speculation that the 16gb of RAM could be a bottleneck. It really depends on what you're using the laptop for, but 16gb will absolutely be enough for a vast majority of games. 32gb really helps with Premiere while performing other tasks at the same time. I'm sure you'll be fine. Let me know if you go ahead and purchase it! Also, just an FYI, in Australia 32gb of RAM was only available in the Ryzen 7 config, is there any chance it's the same for you?
Hey man, great video! I'm wondering what kind of battery life you can get out of this thing while gaming? Both with heavy AAA titles like the ones you showed, and lighter gaming.
Not much. I never play off battery but a couple of times I've forgotten to plug in when playing Destiny 2 on dedicated graphics. What I can say is that it runs really well without being plugged in, almost to the point that you don't notice. I've definitely played for around 30 minutes before the screen dimmed and it went into power saving. I do 45 minutes train rides with indie titles and I still have more than half my battery left. I'm sure I'd get more running on the iGPU.
I watched another review where they noted that it was very loud outside of quiet mode. And that balanced mode was not a middle sound level, but rather very loud. Can you give your opinion on this? Or any other users?
Balanced only sounds similar to Performance if the AI tickbox in Vantage is selected. That setting causes the fans to ramp up and down depending on what's happening in your game. I use balanced without AI most of the time.
Honestly, I’m impressed at how well it handled most games at a resolution I’d expect you’d need a 4070 for. DLSS+FrameGen is really something. As to fan noise, a comfy set of over the ear noise canceling headphones is key for laptop gaming, imo. Fan noise is the type of white noise that noise canceling is excellent at deleting, and I find that plenty of games have a lot of effects that you flat out miss if you have typical weak laptop speakers fighting fan noise.
I've got a pair of noise cancelling headphones which work great. I often sit next to my wife while on the couch and choose to run off quiet mode. You can't leave this on your lap for long otherwise you'll burn your legs. 🔥
@@Payne. Can you really leave anything actively utilizing discrete graphics to do something computationally intensive on your lap though? Maybe (maybe) a Mac?
Lenovo gaming laptops usually have very good cooling and they let you do overclocking, so it's likely possible to bring your 4060 within 5% performance of the stock 4070.
If you get to the stickers before you use the laptop too many times then it's quite easy to remove and you can use the stickers to pick up bits left behind. Once heat gets involved it becomes a bit stickier and then you would probably need to use a good remover. I'm sure someone in the comments will know. The big problem is if you leave it for too long, then there is discolouration where the stickers are.
The laptop does have an hdmi 2.1 port though, so if you were to connect to a gsync capable tv or external monitor via hdmi would it work? I guess I'm asking if the lack of gsync is strictly due to the diaplay panel, or if it's not available in the graphics card
It would work, it just isn't native Gsync. It doesn't make a difference to me though. Not saying Gsync is overrated, it just doesn't matter a whole lot to my gaming experience.
I got the slim 5 16 in . I did up grade to 32 gigs. Mine is a 240 volt . Even when game playing I only heard the fans a few times. I did encode an hour and a half movie in less than 8 minutes.
Helpful review since I am looking into buying the g14 or slim5. Right now the g14 is the better deal since I have seen it go on sale for $1000 and the slim5 for $1050 on Best Buy. They both are good in my opinion and I know the slim5 is better overall but it has soldered ram. Where I am it is only available for 16 gigs not on sale on the Lenovo website so I can only buy it from Best Buy. The problem is that 16 gigs of ram is going to be enough in some time so the slim5 isn't good for the future. The g14 ram can be upgraded so it's just better for me. Do you think that's the right choice or is 16 gigs of ram more than enough for a long time?
If you can get 32GB that would be my preference. It really depends what you're doing with the laptop, gaming is fine on 16GB but any sort of video editing suffers without 32GB.
I won't be using softwares that need ram since I mostly just use it for gaming. Thanks for your answer since my current pc has only 8gb of ram which was the minimum when I bought it. I just don't want to make the same mistake with my new pc. Also I just can't seem to find a website selling a new slim 5 with 32 gigs of ram.@@Payne.
I got the version with 16gb of ram by mistake. I wanted to get 32 gb. Is 16gb good or it is very less by today's standard. I will manly use it for data science, coding and games.
Mr Payne Is Legion Pro 5 worth it ? the 4060 and 7745hx one over this one ? Are there major performance diff ? What about temps ? Also, in your opinion is 4070 laptop worth it over 4060 ?
The 4070 is better but not by much, maybe 15%. There is a great video by Jarrods's Tech on RU-vid that will explain it better. I would have kept my 4070 laptop but it had issues with micro stutter so I had to return it. The 4060 and 4070 have the same VRAM.
I heard that the slim will overheat when using for long periods over PRO 5. PRO 5 also has 240hz and 500nits of brightness. I mean, thats the only difference I can see. I am really not sure what to choose.@@Payne.
Hello, I'm asking you what's going on, the sound changes a lot and regarding g sync and pwm it doesn't cause any problems. Thanks, I'm between this model and the slim 7. I wanted the AMD version but I can't find it, only the Intel one is available.
Sorry, I was referring to the fact that you previously had the Slim 7 and if you were able to hear the audio compared to the Slim 5.. Is there an alternative 14 inch laptop to the legion slim 5 currently in 2024, or is this still the best bang for your buck if you want a 14 inch model? One with 32 gb.....
GSync reduces screen tearing when you have a variable refresh rate. Meaning that if the game isn't locked to 30, 60 or 120fps you may see screen tearing... Vsync does a lot of the heavy lifting but it isn't perfect. I often lock my games FPS when the game allows which is why an absence of GSync hasn't been a problem for me.
Hey, great video. Just one question, how does it perform on external monitors? I considered coupling it with a 27" 1080p for game development and playing some games.
You keep saying there is no GSync yet it has VRR in the Lenovo settings. I believe this was done for licensing reasons but it does have VRR and it works very well.
Correct. People are concerned by the lack of GSync specifically and it hasn't been a problem for me. All I'll say is that if a lack of GSync is stopping you from purchasing the laptop then I wouldn't worry.
@@Payne. In my experience G-Sync and FreeSync are just fancy names for VRR. To me its all the same and I ended up buying this laptop after using the G14 for a month and couldn't be happier.
Hello! Would you like to know what you would choose? It is available at the same price and I should decide which one to buy. Legion 7 Slim Ryzen 4060 32Ram 3.2K Glacier White Legion 5 14.5 Ryzen 4060 16Ram I would use it for everything, Office and IT work, leisure games/ RU-vid. I don't travel a lot, but then I would take it, I'm looking for a light machine. Slim 7: I'm a little afraid that the 3.2K resolution will be insufficient in a short time, 4060 now ok but the downscaling is ugly(?). (There are no other dvga and display versions in my region) Slim 5 14.5: I don't want to deal with OLED burn-in. Ok auto hide taskbar, but HUDs and the frames of my applications will be there during work. My eyes are sensitive, so the PWM is also negative. Last is the reflection on the screen. In all other respects, I like this machine for its size and performance. I don't know what to choose :)

Hey@@Payne. when you put the 2nd SSD in did the standoff screw fit the SSD ok? I brought this laptop based on your review plus others and no regrets however when installing my second SSD a Lexar NQ790 (NM790) the screw in the motherboard doesnt have a big enough gap to take the SSD to hold it down in place, very odd.
Great question and I had the same issue! So that screw actually splits in two. Before putting the SSD in, try and gently turn the top part of the screw to separate it from the bottom. Then rest the SSD on the bottom part of the screw when installing, and then screw in with the top bit. Not the best technical explanation on my behalf, but I hope it made sense.@@Happy_Snapper
@@Payne. then again, I’ll never truly be happy with an alternative like Mini-LED when I know OLED exists and I even enjoy it in my living room on the daily, I wish there was more specific data out burn-in on this exact display
My 2017 Alienware OLED 13in touchscreen doesn't have burn in. Typing this comment on it now. Sept 2024 will mark 7 years with the laptop. In short I wouldn't worry about burn in.
I've heard that a few times and it was a slight concern of mine before purchasing it but I honestly can't tell the difference. Honestly I've never really been able to tell the difference between Gsync and Vsync, I don't think it's that big of a deal.
Starfield runs fine, it wasn't that well optimised when I made this video and didn't include official DLSS integration. Check out some of Tech Guy Beaus videos for Starfield.
I got it and it arrived with issues. It's my third time purchasing from Lenovo and every laptop I've bought has always come with some form of issue: My first Legion refused to recognize the GPU, it wouldn't even appear on the drivers' list until the BIOS would be reset. This occurred on every restart cycle Then I got an IdeaPad which short-circuited two months in whenever I would rest my hand to the left of the trackpad. The third was this, the Legion Silm 5 14": if I would browse for 10 minutes, the screen would just go black. Didn't happen in games (would have 2+ hour long gaming sessions), only while browsing on any browser (even with Hardware Acceleration turned off). Needless to say, I'm not buying from Lenovo again. This laptop was phenomenal architecturally, but I've had too much bad luck with this brand. I was really devastated that the Legion 5 didn't escape the misfortune, because on paper it really is an amazing machine.
I'm sorry to hear that. I had a bad experience with the Legion 7i. I think sometimes it's just bad luck. I don't have any loyalty to a specific brand, they all have their faults but I think three strikes and you're out is a fair rule. What will you get instead?
Have you tried dialing down to 900p? Can't imagine it'll look that bad on a 14" screen, _and_ it scales natively from 1800p. OTOH it ought to give an insane FPS boost considering the VRAM constraints on the 4060.
I got it for 1070 dollars 16 gb variant , is this a good deal or should i spend 350 dollars more and go for ASU’s m16 4070 with i9 The ram upgrade part is bothering me 😢😢

Personally wouldnt want to play any games that are not locked to either 60 or 120 v synced since the laptop unfortunately doesn't do vrr. I guess your not sensitive to it, but i wouldn't say it's good enough when basically every gaming laptop has vrr. Also use nvidia control panel v sync and turn off in game sync
Definitely needs to be considered, some people are more sensitive to screen tearing and lower frame rates. I haven't had any issues with that luckily. Stuttering on my 7i drove me crazy though. What laptop would you recommend?
@Payne. I know your a fan of lenovo. But unfortunately have had 2 really bad experiences so far with them. I have always been a fan of the Asus zephyrus g14 series. Especially the new 2024 model with the upgraded quality design. But it's more expensive
@@Payne. I feel like the terrible stuttering issue on lenovo pcs during games is found on most of their intel and nvidia machines with advanced Optimus and high resolution displays. I noticed that the frequency of stutters decreases if the games output resolution is reduced, and vastly improves when turning off the direct GPU mode (by using the igpu as the display adapter). Almost like their is a bandwidth limitation in the advanced Optimus direct GPU connection. It doesn't make any sense since you would expect the opposite. But that's just a theory and might be wrong...
I'm a fan of laptops doing what they are supposed to do. After my poor experience with the Legion Slim 7i I wasn't sure I was going to buy another to be honest. Asus makes some great stuff, I'm also interested in the new HP Omen 14".@@justinhalen2126
The only reason why I won't buy gaming laptops in 2023 is because for 1 the 14th gen integrated cpu gpu chips are going to be twice as powerful next year. and for 2 it's a total scam you can't get an 18" screen for less than $2k. I want a 14th gen 5050. 18" screen. And I know they won't make one because that would be "poor" performance. But, for a guy whose over 6 feet tall 14" wont do and hey, I read the black and white newspaper I am pretty sure I can make due with about a thousand bucks.
There's always something better around the corner when it comes to technology. This laptop suits me nicely at the moment. I travel with this laptop daily so the size and weight work really well but I do miss the extra screen real estate.
Do you know if the hdmi port or thunderbolt ports run off the integrated graphics the gpu or either through a mux switch. I am assuming its PEG gpu only. @@Payne.
i got this notebook too, but i dont understand why it produces the same noise in quiet mode idle and gaming. Lenovo´s engineers are just big idiots ruining the whole product
Everyone has such mixed experiences with these laptops. My Legion Slim 7i had a stuttering problem but many of the comments indicated their laptops worked fine. My Legion Slim 5 works as it should, there is a huge difference between quiet and performance. If yours sounds the same on all profiles I suggest you get it looked at. I think the biggest issue for Lenovo is quality control.
Just ordered the Slim 7. My usage are mostly productivity (software development and music recording) and that's fantastic that I can also do some casual gaming as well. Great review.
@@azer6887 I use windows as host cuz most of my music production apps and drivers are only available for Windows, but I heavily use Linux distros as VMs for other dev work I do.
I’m getting excited for the world of horror review! I love that it takes after Junji Ito’s style of art and horror, keen to hear what you think of it 😁
This review is what we need to see. I whole heartedly feel the Asus g14 gets so much more attention due to there marketing dollars but for the price, quality, and performance of the Lenovo slim 5 you think way more reviewers would be talking about this right now. Thank you for shedding light on this incredible machine. Has to be the best deal on the market right now with the markdowns.
Glad to hear it's working so well for you! That will be reassuring to a lot of the people in the comments. I have the Legion Slim 5 with an OLED screen now and it's amazing. Mini LED would make it perfect.
Still didn't get the differences between OLED vs. miniLED vs. IPS. [power consumption difference especially] Just know OLED burn-ins is a real thing people are worried about. I did read a post about a burn-in for a miniLED that slowly was recovered. Very weird. All laptops are coming out with an OLED today...
The stuttering issue was only present on the Slim 7i. I personally think the i9 with a 4070 was too much heat in such a small.package. Many people never had this issue so I was just unlucky. There is no stuttering on Hybrid mode. It works great at the cost of a few FPS.
I "was" gonna get this as a sidegrade for my asus advantage edition (the 6800M version) but I saw it uses PWM even on 100% brightness so I decided to skip it. Oleds still have flicker issues sometimes that need to be addressed and PWM on top of that can be problematic.
Should I get the slim 5 or 5 pro as my first gaming laptop? Its gonna stay most of the time plugged, and also what cpu should i choose, 7840hs, i 5 13500h ? Im worried about fan noise
To put it simply if it's going to stay plugged in I don't recommend any of the Slim models. Will you have an external monitor? If not make sure you get a larger screen. The Slim 5 is great for portability and its OLED screen but you'll get more out of a non-slim model. No matter what model you pick fan noise will be noticeable on Balanced and Performance mode. Any pair of headphones will sort that out though.
Great video but can I suggest maybe in the future record the pixel footage in a slightly darker area to prevent the glare on the screen and if its possible to record in HDR in the future that would improve the quality of the videos even more, thank you for playing and sharing the game like the average gamer would so we have a most realistic view on the performance!
Hello ,mr squeaky . I just got mine ,it good sofar . But i update the amd Radeon software now it have display problem between 120hz and 60hz . It flickering. If i want to switch to 60.
i was really on the fence about this laptop due to the lack of gsync and freesync. I went with the g14 for that reason. After watching this video its really making me rethink the g14
Gsync seems to be a big deal for a lot of people and honestly I thought it would be for me as well. Truth is I just can't tell the difference, maybe on certain titles but so far no Gsync hasn't been a problem.
I have this model and specs. I can say the screen tearing definitely happens. But it's more likely to happen when you limit fps. Over 100 fps, it doesn't happen nearly as much. But turning vsync on isn't bad. It's just not as good of a technology. In games where it's an issue I just turn it on and I don't notice it anymore or feel any input delay. I'm all for gaync but imo it's nowhere near a deal breaker. OLED is just too good I was not disappointed of the trade-off. I will say they had on their specs after release that it supported freesync. That is not the case and they since removed that info from their sheet. Tl;Dr I never tried the G14. But the OLED was too good and I was concerned with g-sync as well. After using it. I never think about it. And it's a trade-off I considered worth
Thank god it looks like those stickers can be removed easily. I hate it when manufacturers plaster their devices with hard to removing stickers. Those Intel EVO stickers are the worst of all.
@@Payne. yeah kind of - i am leaning more towards the slim 5. The Pro 7 feels more like a non-pro device to me with all the plastic and even though I bought it for a very nice price and the performance is awesome, I still feel like it was too expensive. While the Slim 5 has the fingerprint and glass touchpad which I kind of do not want to miss, using a macbook pro 14" for work right now that I will replace with the slim 14 i think. I play a lot of different games from esports to highly demandig games like CP2077. However, since I a) dont have that much time to play right now and will most likely code with it anway and b) always have a GeforceNow Founders Sub for 4K Gaming when I need it, I feel like the slim 5 is the more reasonable choice. If I had like a 3-4k budget I think I would get a ROG G14 4080/4090.
@@unamgege The Slim 5 is such a capable laptop and for all the reasons you listed above I think it's the better choice for you right now. Any games you're looking forward to?
@@Payne. WoW Classic SoD, finish CP2077 Phantom Liberty, finish a Divinity Coop run, finally play BG3, some CS2, some EFT, looking forward to the upcoming FF7 Remake Part 2 as well, cant list all of them - my pile of shame is unprecedented 😅
I love you video the only review of this laptop that is good. Could you please test terminator dark fate defiance max settings in this laptop? As well as star wars battlefront 2 (2017) Thank you so much!
