@@Bobby-gg5gp No, I watched the video. But what does it have anything to do with what his ancestors did. And why does this idiot think Max's ancestors are guilty of something his are not ?!? What a stupid and racist comment to make.
@@Bobby-gg5gp What the hell. Is this guy suppose to be treated like a pile of crap because he's an American ?!? Because of some nonsense political propaganda this moron heard and thinks white Americans are some how less human and more despicable than other races ?!? REALLY ?!? You want horrible ancestors just look at ANY eastern Asian country. Or look at ANY black country today or in history.
Beautiful city and city! Hope you travel and show more of Europe. And interview the people. They seem friendly at least in this video. And good on German people for recognizing their history and the negative aspects.
@6:18 love what Germsny teaches about the horrors of the past! Forgiveness and reconciliation is the key. Hope the Japanese would do the same to the Filipino the Chinese the Koreans etc
Me as a Hungarian, originally from Budapest, I never looked at my city as a tourist do. looks lovely, but the girls are right, we are kind of rude and pessimist nation. happy that you find the city astonished and met with kind peoples as your video shows. take care on your journey's. wish you all the best and come back some times!
I’ll take Orban over Biden in a second. No apologies, no b.s. Maybe he can keep talking some sense into the Greek, Romanian, and Bulgarian leaders. I look forward to him leading E.U.
I've been a couple of times in Budapest (planning to go a third time) and I don't recall people being rude. More like not friendly, which happened to me as well in Poland. I thought maybe it was just towards tourists because they were tired of having too many of us. It was definitely worst in Poland. The guys at the shops wouldn't even say "good morning" back. They would be small talking to locals and as soon as they noticed you didn't speak their language they would treat you like didn't deserve being treated nicely. That was in Krakow.
What your German friend says about how they grew up learning about what the Nazis and Germany did to the Jews; how they learn that dark period in their history through interacting with and learning of the experiences of Holocaust survivors. It offers a chance of closure to both sides. That's something Japan could learn from the Germans.
@@baerlauchstal It’s left to those of us who know about these obscure but important episodes to share/expose with the rest of the social media citizens so that those of us with an open mind can learn from each other. At least, it would pique our curiosity enough to ask more questions. We clearly can’t leave it to the politicians anymore; they’ve gotten us this deep in trouble already.
@@elwolf8536 Ummm - that´s because that didn´t happen. I am pretty sure it would have been noticed if Germany lost 25% of its population to starvation after 1945...... It is true that German´s suffered a lot after the wars years. But 20 million starved to death?!! Where are you pulling that from?!!
I went to Budapest for 2 days in 2015 as a part of my inter-railing travels and although I found it ok, I never looked at it in this beautiful way that Torres has shot this video. It just looks stunning and gorgeous with this lovely magical effect. It actually makes me want to go back again to visit and see what I missed, see if I'll see it in a different light. Lovely video with educational touches! ☺
I was half a year ago, the roads are from last century, and buildings as well, but not preserved. So you see a huge contrast: brand new tram, but broken roads and pavements, beautiful architecture but not preserved, so buildings are falling apart. Train stations like Keleti are beautiful but my departure was from Deli, which smells like urine, has very very limited space under the roof, and was like 38'C, if you want to leave your baggage in a locker you need to pay by coins, and of course, nobody around 1km can exchange you the money. And when my train was canceled (!), the lady at the train station didn't know anything.
Been to Budapest at least 5 to 6 times since my partner used to station there for 2ish year and love our big apartment which is close to the US embassy. Love the city and they are the spa city of Europe. They have some of the best cafes, macaroons and 4-5 stars restaurant here. If u want to spot celebs, go have lunch or dinner at the 4 Seasons hotel. Had my Xmas dinner buffet there. Budapest is so walkable and the weekend markets in Summer is one of my favourite too. Also, they have one of the best sunsets.
Spent my whole summer in Budapest in 2009, everyone I met said Budapest is the most beautiful, we all love this country. I can tell you can't find another river view better than duna river. Everything still looks the same as years ago, what suprised me is the girls they speak so good English nowadays.
Highly enjoyable report from Hungary, with lots of humor and teasing, which made it even better. I have two remarks though: 1)Although Budapest is the capital of Hungary, Hungary itself is much more than Budapest. The real surprises are waiting for those who make the effort to discover the countryside. 2) Franz Liszt was born in the westernmost part of historical Hungary. His parents were German speakers, he never learnt Hungarian, -yet he regarded himself as Hungarian. This was in a time, when historical Hungary was much larger (3.5 X larger) than present day, as a result there were many ethnic minorities, who lived in Hungary.
Budapest is the one of the most underrated big cities in Europe, so affordable and beautiful. Regret I only spend a few nights there and definitely going back!!
Germans confronted their dark history and taught their descendants how to avoid repeating the same mistakes, so they are very progressive and respected, while the Japanese wiped out the atrocities of Japan in World War II on the world, which is why the Chinese, Koreans, etc. still very angry with Japan
Yeah, I saw a video not that long ago were someone was asking young Japanese people what they knew about WWII and they didn't know a damn thing. I find it very strange that people still hold Germany accountable for the war but forget about Italy and love Japan.
I think the Chinese communists should lead by example by teaching all Chinese students how many tens of millions of Chinese people died under the control Mao and his communist zealots. Far more Chinese died under Mao and his murderous communists than they ever did under the Japanese in WW2.
I went to Budapest for my birthday last year. It was in the autumn and it was amazing with the cooler breeze and outdoor spa. I travelled to many cities in the UK and EU and Budapest is my favourite. It has my happiest memories ❤.
Just discovered your channel. A new subbie here! I love this vid and its content! I wish I could have stayed here longer last time when I visited this place. It's definitely one of the most beautiful places in Europe!
thx for sharing. Personally, I had bad experience in Poland, not too far away from Hungary. In Hungary, people are not as friendly as Italians to tourists, but still Ok, above average level. Budapest is nice place to travel, very affordable and delicious. In Poland, I was hit by a stranger on the street and not had the best experience regarding the customer service/ hospitality as I had in Japan where I live right now. I would give those East European countries a second try. I am leaving for Europe trip soon. 😄
Same experience! In Budapest they were alright. Not friendly like we, Mediterraneans, usually are, but they treated you alright. On the other hand, I was in Krakow a couple of years ago and they made me feel like an intruder in every shop I would go buy some food. Even the guy that was the receptionist in the hotel was a jerk for no reason!
Wow, what the fellow German guy said about the holocaust and the history was beautiful and poignant. As a German myself, I only wish we all could reflect in this way since many people in my country have seemed to forget our horrific past during WW2.
Just wish the Japanese could reflect about their history too (Unit 731 human horror experimentation, Nanjing Massacre, Comfort women, etc.). Kudos to the Germans.
Germany should have just focused on killing communists in the Soviet Union. No one in the rest of the west would have objected. Plus we would not have had to deal with Russian aggression for the past 85 years.
Thank you for this beautiful words about WWII that your German friend was saying. My grandparents are survivors of the Holocaust and have carried this heavy painful past with them to the grave..i kept reminding myself that even it happened a long time ago, I will remember forever what happened during that time.
