The drop at 3:22 when you started discussing team compositions had me laughing! Good stuff Datto, always love to see your take on things and your personality never fails to make it fun!
The game is extremely fun, but I sure hope they plan on adding more content. Whether it’s guns, gadgets, etc… I know this was a beta, and it was the best beta I’ve played in a long, long time. So I am just excited to play the game. I also really hope they go back and get actual VAs for the announcers.
Minor corrections, there are 3 maps: Seoul, Monaco, and Skyway Stadium. Also for this beta the only things you keep were cosmetics specifically from the battle pass
there is lots of variety ... this game is not a hamster sim like D2 ...in other shooters people actually play to shoot instead of looking for loot and vaulting it ... there are many strats and counter strats in this game ... you think you seen it all until you run into certain players ... all this game needs is the devs to listen
Please continue to do variety game content. I haven't played Destiny in a year but I'm still subbed and still watch your videos because of your style and info delivery. Applying that to other games would be great, especially with Destiny seemingly on its way out
I had a great time soloing in this game. I think as a medium build, its doable. Just be hyper aware of your team so you can keep them alive, and have good movement and aim. I was predominantly the top fragger and carried my team. That said, I haven't touched rank. And so i would imagine that its a lot harder to do that. You can easily tell when teams are using rank strats in pubs, but like you said, everything is not rock paper scissors. There's always a way to get around certain team comps
(John 3:16,17) "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but should have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him." (Romans 10:9,10) "That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your that God has raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart, man believeth unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."
I’ve had the privilege of being able to play each beta so far, reaching diamond in CB2 and OB. Small pieces of info not mentioned here. There were 3 maps in the OB, the two he mentioned and a new one called skyway stadium. Tournament, while similar to quick cash, has 4 teams of 3 instead. 3 waves of cash boxes spawn, with each sequential cash box revealing the location of the next one. In ranked there are also modifiers. In the last 3 minutes of a round a modifier can show up, such as low gravity, mega damage (double damage), deathmatch (10x money for kills), meteor showers, orbital lasers (they fire at you whenever you stand still for a bit), and dead go boom (people explode when they die). From personal experience they rarely affect the outcome of matches, although dead go boom can absolutely wipe out teams instantly thanks to deaths chaining from the damage. Team comp wise the meta was often times MMH or LMH, though you rarely suffer too much if the players are good enough. These things will likely shift with launch of course with balance changes, but medium having access to the only form of accelerated healing is quite strong regardless. I wouldn’t say the medic gun necessarily required in a team, but it adds a lot of room for error. I’m very hopeful this game succeeds, it fulfills a void in the FPS space, and it’s quality has to be worth something, and damn does it feel good. The only people I absolutely do not recommend play this would be those who simply despise long ttk. The game requires solid tracking to be snappy, with kill times feeling somewhat similar to apex legends if you want a good comparison. Either way it’s going to be free, give it a shot when it comes out! Game should be releasing in early December if the info we have is reliable.
One of the few games that held my attention between the closed and open beta. The only other game I remember doing that was Destiny. Fantastic game and I am very excited for the release.
such a creative shooter, not in the sense that it brings lots of new stuff to the table, but it the sense that it merges so many fantastic mechanics together in a new way. Feels great on pc too although I've heard that aiming on controller didn't feel as good on console.
ITS BETTER THAN DESTINY. BETTER THAN WARFRAME. BETTER THAN ROCKET LEAGUE. BETTER THAN COD. BETTER THAN APEX. BETTER THAN BATTLEFIELD. BETTER THAN HALO. BETTER THAN FORTNITE. BETTER THAN VALORANT. BETTER THAN CSGO. THIS IS OBJECTIVE TRUTH.
I got to the final round against a 3 man light team and wondered how they got that far, probably with the stun gun method you mentioned but as a heavy and 2 mediums it was so easy to just bunker down and focus them even when stunned. Really like how there are many different ways to play and they all seem fun and counterable for now at least.
Im hopeful that theres a decent amount of fun to be had, but yeah balancing and refreshing the meta will be important. Would love to see some content on the channel for it. Had a blast playing the beta
I was so stoked to see so many people playing the finals beta. I've played since the alpha and just love the ability to completely level buildings and the gunplay is pretty good. I'd say lightweight is my favorite class, the dash ability with the sidearm went hard in the closed and open betas. I'm very excited for this game to come out and see how it goes, I think it's got some potential. Would be cool to see more game modes added in the final product, the bank it game mode was new to the open beta I'm pretty sure.
I played the beta for 32 hours and the has the exact problem I knew it was going to have when I first saw it months ago. Everyone just running heavies and RPGing people as soon as they see them. I was having a great time ... but TONS of my games had 3-4/6 enemies on heavy just spamming RPGs, that INSANELY OP shotgun, or hammers and barges and it made those matches completely unplayable. Especially if I didn't get a heavy teammate (I was running med and I swear I'd get double light teammates nearly every game). My teammates would leave every single time and then I would have to as well. It completely ruins the match for everyone. I feel like they should limit heavy to 1 per team or make it so you can change classes in unranked so you can actually deal with the heavies. There's no counter to a heavy besides another heavy or maybe the stun gun. I'd rather give people the ability to change classes rather than forcing them to leave. The RPG is insanely broken... idk who though it was a good idea to give that thing 180 player damage, which instakills the light class, but they're an idiot. You can insta-swap weapons, so you can 180+70 someone with your RPG + gun in less than a second. It basically makes the lights and meds unable to kill heavies because all the heavy has to do is turn and RPG.
➡Increase the base movement speed of the Heavy class ➡Increase the health of shields. ➡Stun gun should ONLY be available with melee weapons, its way too unfair and broken being able of emptying a mag on an inmovilzed enemy. ➡All classes need a secondary weapon (or maybe thats just my trigger happy self talking) ➡If someone gets revived, refill their ammunition. ➡Light class movement abilities such as dash and hook need to keep momentum; the dash needs a distance buff and the hook needs a cooldown increase. ➡I didnt liked the monetization of the part and pieces, i prefered to buy bundles but i felt like they were pricey. Make bundles of part and pieces maybe??. ➡Medium class jumpads need horizontal momemtum. I dont really like to go up with no horizontal / air control, most of the time i felt AND WAS vulnerable ➡Healing of Medium class felt pretty weak and i would love to have a percentage of that healing back to me while healing an ally. ➡Medium class should revive faster at base. ➡This should be controversial, but i hated the intros, mostly because i dont like to see girly emotes on big dudes or girly costumes on big dudes... gimme the option to autoskip the intro it really pisses me off big time because it further enables the pussyfication of man. ➡ Some weapons with low fire rate and high recoil doesnt deal enough damage to compensate and viceversa (weapons with high fire rate and low recoil deal too much damage) . Greatest examples of this are V9S and R .357. ➡I would like to play on a team of 4 to be honest. ➡I would like to have a gamemode for the solo queue gang! arms race or something. ➡We need customs games, so i can organize scrims or just casual with the rest of my friends list. ➡WE URGENTLY NEED commands like Group up!, Need Healing!, etc.., this will GREATLY Improve the team comms without using Voice Chat. ➡Emotes are WAYYYYYYYYYY TOO punishing. ➡Let me increase the FOV a little bit more. Overall i loved the game and these are a couple of changes (I REMEMBER) that would be fairly needed. If you or someone can communicate this to a dev would be awesome, Thanks!!
For how high fidelity the game is, I was shocked I could run the game as smooth as I could with active ray tracing on a 2080 Super without performance drops. Games have been relentlessly punishing and pushing more demand on GPUs for the last couple years with RTX and Raytracing capable cards that the games are outpacing what the consumer can afford to buy to almost dangerous levels. However The Finals kinda proves you just really need a lot of optimization to keep system requirements as low as possible for the average consumer without compromising the rest of game. With Raytracing being a new tech, I'm sure there will be more space to optimize raytracing in the future too. Just depends on how much of that time and money is spent doing it, and if companies wanna meet those costs.
I played for quite a bit in solo q / with one other person, and I do think ranked/unranked will be important for keeping small groups away from meta gamers in packs of 3. I had a great time even when I lost, and a better time solo-winning games on light just going from money drop to bank with grapple. But that won't last forever, and solo q will get more difficult in the months after launch. This game has a good setup, it just needs content, more game modes, more maps. Disappointed to hear they are using ai, they should use Miku instead.
It isn't AI specifically, there's nothing wrong with using AI-AS LONG AS THE LIKENESSES OF ACTORS ARE UNDER CONTRACT AND THE ACTORS GET PAID FAIRLY FOR THE USE OF THEIR LIKENESS. It s the system that needs to be reorganized not the use of technology.
Played like 50 hours of the beta. Absolutely in love with it. Closest thing was Destiny back inn 2014,, I ended up with like 110k hours in d1 and 2 combined. Let's see.
I enjoyed my time with the beta, basically finishing the free battle pass. But I can't see it holding me long term as there just isn't a lot of variety in game modes and maps as they all get a bit formulaic after a while. If that improves on launch then amazing but in its current state ehhh. It's also buggy as hell so I hope that improves.
I put 40+ hours into this beta and I agree with just about everything you've said here. My only concerns are that there won't be quick enough reactions with regards to balancing from the devs. Nothing stood out too much to me, like you said everything can kinda be "countered" by adjusting your playstyle/positioning a bit but I will say that the flamethrower, V9S, and the sword are probably a bit overtuned while the semi-auto rifle that the lights get, and the Lewis gun are probably a bit undertuned. Great game though, can't wait for it to come out for sure!
As someone who grinded this games ranked mode your take on medium and metas forming is absolutely correct. The meta would be MMH team comp with heavy running mesh shield and dome shield w both mediums running defibs and heal beam. (This is in diamond ranked lobbies). It's basically a bunker comp as heavy can destroy and breach while mediums just insta res the heavy w 30% of his health back. On top of having a shield and 2 heal beams you would basically be a reinhardt with 2 mercies. Very hard to counter. This is where light comes in. EMP nades would ruin this team comp absolutely. Stun gun is also amazing for defib denials. As a result I would like to say this game does have a meta but you can ALWAYS find a counter. The counter may be hard to execute but it does exist. Side note I think a game event where a weapons station drops somewhere on the map which allows you to access your reserves would be amazing. It would allow you to switch up your comp mid game if you are struggling.
Slight worry this game will end up as Splitgate. Huge popularity for its uniqueness at the start. Then after a few months the player numbers dropping a lot and no one talking about it anymore
I really do hope the devs just tell the audience to piss off about the voice actors. How they develop their game, react to new modes quickly, keep costs down, quality assurance, etc; is simply not the gamer’s business. Don’t like it? Don’t play it. Enough with this mob mentality bs.
From a balance perspective, I played 30 hours and aps+shields is incredibly hard to counter when stealing (aps eats c4 placed on cashout) if you are being coordinated, as well triple medium can feel incredibly oppressive because if played right they have 6 lives, but that is just a flaw of the defibrillator being too strong, this game just needs a couple nerfs to be balanced. (Stun gun/defib/rpg)
I found it extremely fun. What will really determine how good it is long term is how grindy the battlepass is and how predatory the monetisation is. What can I say? I play games, not second jobs. Aside from that gameplay is fun and super fun destroying stuff. Once had a cash box on the 4th floor of a building so I destroyed all the ground floor walls to collapse the entire building. Did it accomplish anything? Potentially, but that was secondary to the fun of breaking stuff. I think they need to give some VRs up front so players can unlock something because the default unlocks aren't very good, at least to me. Also operating cranes is fun. You can rotate them for a better vantage and they're destructible.
I really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, I ended up with this bug where my mouse kept sticking, which of course got me concerned for my brand new pc until I looked it up and found out it was just a bug. The controller setup on console was annoying. I just couldn't get it right... Regardless, it was auper fun, and im looking forward to when it drops.
Damn this is an old reference but I’m getting MAJOR Battlefield Hardline vibes. Everyone in the Battlefield community was loving it during the betas but it just didn’t have enough to sustain people when the game released and people could dig into it.
Playing with randoms in quick play is hell. Randoms in Tourneys are good. Everyone doing a tourney wants to win. So it helps a lot! I played 27 of my 30 hours solo and I had a blast.
Tbh give the same vibe as hyenas. It seems like a great idea with decent gameplay but this is going to flop. If it makes it past bets the second seasonal bullshit and a paid shop become the focus the charm and love just wont last
It’s probably because I’m used to the crazy high aim assist Destiny has on controller, but I thought the shooting in this felt kinda crappy. I’m probably just bad at aiming, but I felt like landing shots was way harder than it should have been.
Correction on the cosmetics carrying over: Only cosmetics earned through the battle pass (and most likely the career path) will carry over. Cosmetics bought from the shop will not (unless they were the free halloween-themed packs).
I had an absolute blast playing the Beta. I will say on the AI thing, I'm not all that opposed to it. Considering this is supposed to be a futuristic VR gameshow, them using AI for the announcers isn't too surprising. I'd like to see how it sounds with actual voice actors, definitely could be hype.
I played 45 hours of the beta. I maimed light class with the pistol and stun gun. The stun gun definitely needs some tuning. I was a able to completely immobilized heavy’s and pretty much kill them instantly
I’ve put in around 40 hours across all the betas, mostly solo queuing as my friends didn’t have access to cb 1 or 2 I absolutely love the game, balance and nuance in the modes has changed a bit between betas but it’s remained fun throughout. Most oppressive thing I came across was 3 mediums with riot shields and turrets but all that stuff will change on launch i’m sure. There’s enough of a ping system that if your teammates aren’t messing around you can do well as a solo. I really hope this game does well because it’s so fun and refreshing and just feels great
I made a suggestion Casual mode- You can swap classes on the fly, you can swap any equipment reserve doesn’t matter Ranked- 1 of each class. Reserve should be accessible
kinda hope the battlefield hardlines heist mode. you know 1 team deffends big money other team trys to steal big money. Teams could be 10v10 or I dunno I have not played it. but I watched most of the video and it looks cool. just an idea. (shit on the idea if you want.) The game looks cool tho.
Snipers we’re definitely amazing on light even inside because of their speed and size they can just jump around the room taking pop shots at you and even heavy characters would get whittled down. That one is definitely more skill based but very rewarding once you get the feel of it, definitely pairing it with grapple.
It used to be datto does destiny RIP. well if rifle gaming can do it I guess anyone can, but now your'e not up against other destiny 2 creators you're up against all of youtube/gaming and you'll either sink or float datto. I'm going to unsubscribe and if I see you in the future with a good video that the youtube algorithm reccomends me I'll reconsider.
As long as they do what you purposed, or just having the VAs getting residuals from the AI lines is enough for me. It will never be a replacement for actual voice acting, but for a game like this i dont think the VA quality is a huge deal.
My friends and I sadly played the open beta on the last day so after like 6 games it closed on us. But boy can I tell you how much fun we had playing, it was nothing like we've ever experienced before it was so chaotic and yet so controlled. And now that the beta is over, we have no want to play any other game besides this game, please come out soon 😭🙏🏼
I enjoyed the game on first impression but as I played it more other things started to bother me. Fighting someone and getting 3rd Party'd constantly got annoying as well as the spawns. I had multiple games where entire enemy teams spawned behind me. I played solo and duo. I didn't like the bank it mode as it was too chaotic imo. I could see them do better and tighten up the spawns and stuff but, I worry about how the frequently getting shot from someone else not in the duel hurts my enjoyment. When that was happening, it just felt like I died with me not having any way to be able to avoid that.
This looks to me like yet another online only live service multiplayer game with big hype behind it but will end up either failing or being dead shortly after launch. Like it seems cool but people will probably discover after playing it they didn't really want this type of game.
I wonder what the shelf life of this game will be. I feel like these modern military shooters always finish getting updates after a year or two, but maybe it'll last longer? There's also the question of if this is a fad or will be a long lasting, enduring live service, in terms of cultural impact.
It was a lot of fun, but I definitely would have enjoyed it more had I not been playing solo. Also, I do hope they allow for customizing your controls on console when the game fully releases, that was a bit annoying for me.
Probably an unpopular opinion but I had no idea that the voice lines were AI. I actually really liked the voiceover and thought it was unique and nailed the tonality of the game. I just wished there were more variety in the lines.
Comapare to destiny game that sucks for while now and people still playin ...the finals is amazing game and developers are making game what they like so I'm sure it will be around
by the way the permanent rewards are twitch drops, battlepass, and ranked rewards so shop items and level up stuff dont carry over. Great game put over 100 hours in the open beta and the closed betas were good.
Dead in 6months, literally every game that has ever had nexon attached to it that wasn't a moblie game has died in 6months. This game will be HEAVILY monetized (which isnt a bad thing but ALOT of players hate that shit) and when they make a bunch of money they will stop bringing out updates, like every other game they've ever made
Loved the Demo but the heavy is so oppressive on console and the meta was definitely 2-3 heavy's with a medium and a heal beam or light with a invis and shotty or sword.
Finals seems like it might have the same fate as Omega Strikers. Really good game closing down because it can't maintain interest in an overcrowded service game market.
This game was great but there’s gonna need to be more in the full release, the gunplay was pretty good but I found it to be the weakest aspect of the game, the destructible environments and modes though are pretty fun and new.
I had pretty good time playing with randoms and even won few tournaments. But they need to fix voice chat so you join automatically to voice channel and they need to add text chat.
battlefield 3 never stopped being Fun, so i have high spectations for this one, they just need to tone down a little the music, Destiny has showed us that using too many Leitmotivs can lead to saturation
