Have you ever conciously worked on connecting with your emotions better? Does your ego or anger at times cause you to be someone you don't like? What have you done to improve your EQ? Let me know your thoughts. I'd love to hear it!
34 years old and I'm dealing with the same issue. This makes it difficult for me to keep a job or be around individuals in a social setting. Thank you for these videos please continue striving to be a better person daily.
I think that's why I felt more at peace ever since I've been able to work from home alone haha It's a constant practise to develope and fine tune. Thanks man I will. You keep pushing forward and improving as well. Peace & progress to you!
Thank you for sharing, there’s lots to digest here! As for the suppression and lack of awareness of emotions part, especially for men, I wonder how much that might’ve assisted in some of the atrocities that we’ve seen throughout history. With regards to questions about how we’re doing in daily life, to answer such a question in a satisfying way requires a level of reflection and understanding about what makes you feel the way that you do in that moment that can be difficult to have access to, as a result of the lack of practicing emotional awareness. I still catch myself saying that all is fine when really I’m not so certain that is the right thing to say. Sometimes it’s just hard to even describe what I’m feeling, I think we tend to have a rather binary view of emotions in English-speaking cultures. The word, schadenfreude, comes up in my mind as just one type of emotional experience that had to be borrowed from another culture, but other cultures have their own terms to describe emotional experiences as well that we don’t really identify in our language, but probably experience from time to time nonetheless. BTW you got me thinking it might be helpful to keep an emotional journal or calendar to keep track of your emotions throughout the days and see if there are any patterns so that you can better understand what conditions might lead to them arising.
To your first point, you know, I've never directly thought about that but I wouldn't be surprised if low EQ is a driving factor in historical atrocities. That's a great thought! YES. That's also a great point. The English language is not great for emotional expression. Binary is right! I literally just learned the term "schadenfreude" last week from reading the book "Atlas of the Heart" by Brene Brown. English would require several words just to match that meaning. English is far behind in terms of language for self expression. Good idea. I made a note to myself to start doing that. An emotional check in journal. I think being able to review it and see patterns over several months would be helpful. Thanks for the suggestion and your thoughts in general!
I'm 50 in May and there is always more for me to learn and grow from. The key man is to be aware and that is the best step toward the journey. Keep growing bro!
I believe that you're okay. Just remember that we can't have it all. I have an Einstein, Mensa level EQ. But last time I did and IQ test, I only scored a 97. I believe my emotional intelligence are so high because it had to make up for my iq. I don't say that as a diss to myself but I say that just by sheer experience. Most of the people I know with the high iq, and since I've watched all your videos I am going to categorize you into that category, don't really have good emotional intelligence. I'd like to see more studies done because it seems like the two go hand in hand. If I had to guess, I'd say only about 1/5 of all humanity have both high IQ and high EQ. So although I expect you to work on your EQ just as much as I'm working on my IQ be grateful for who you are while you're constructing who you want to be
That's a great reminder and message. Thank you. I've recieved it deeply :) I'm sure there is a correlation between IQ and EQ. I remember when I was digging into personality types (MBTI) and found I am an INTP type, the descriptions of strengths and weaknesses was very accurate. One of which was that INTPs tend to have higher IQ, but are one of the lowest types as far as EQ. At the time I wasn't familiar with EQ but I circled back to read it and that really sealed my acceptance of my low EQ. Which was a good thing because it can't be improved until it's recognized and I've reached that point now. Thanks for supportive and thoughtful comments always! I appreciate it
@@keyhimself3542 I don't have enough "feeling" to be the F lol It was close between INTJ & INTP. Although a friend of mine is a personality analyst and he showed me why I'm very much an INTP. He runs a youtube channel where he analysis notable celebrities (Eric Wen) and he cleared up the differance to me. My partner on the other hand is an INFJ and she has a good balance of both high IQ and EQ.
Just a suggestions.... It would be great also time saver for viewer if you make little bit shorter video or may be break your videos in 2-3 parts and each video focusing on different sub topic of the bigger topic. Also, you can make the format of video in which you tell the problem first and then about your life experience and then solution of the problem.
Unfortunately I don't quite have a solution, only my experience lol I considered making it into multiple videos but decided against it. I figured if people don't have time they could always watch part and finish it at another time. I don't plan on making many videos this long, it just sort of happened. It was actually 20min longer. I cut out what I felt wasn't needed. Though I will keep your suggestions in mind if videos end up this long in the future. Thank you Sakshi :)
