After watching the American Cornhole League Singles Final this past weekend I decided to make a change to my cornhole pitch! Matt Guy and Mark Richards battled all the way to the finals using a step as part of their respective cornhole throwing technique. I decided if its good enough for the best in the game, it has to be at least worth a try! Let me know in the comments what your preferred cornhole bag throwing techinque is. #cornhole

I have been a stepper since day one. I don't see very many other people doing it, but, for me, it just doesn't feel right if I don't step. :)

I am definitely a stepper, mainly for the reasons you suggested. I tried standing still but I could not really judge my back swing and front release properly. Plus I didn’t enjoy it. I am back to stepping and will work on improving that. I also like how you throw a flat bag without your hand completely facing up. I am still trying to throw the flat bag.

I step. It feels better being I come from basketball and I used to take steps to dunk. The steps feel comfortable

Went out at tried it after watching your video. Definitely makes it feel more effortless, now just have to dial it in to make it consistent.

To me,stepping is adding another motion to the throw, less is better in my opinion,

Step is definitely better but you’re stepping forward as your bag is going backwards. Similar to a baseball pitch the hand should be back then step forward and have the bag follow. You’re stepping and pausing cause your hand is going back. So you’re losing that momentum. It’s working cause it’s still better rhythm than standing still though.

Stepping is great. I have always been a stepper because after you get used to it the more or less moving parts thing goes out the window. Some of the best players out there step, and a lot of the people I play with step. For me I step because it helps me get in a rhythm when I am throwing. Great choice and keep up the great work.

Oh, and stepping helps carry your momentum when you are hitting the big push shots

One more thing. Alot of people say to step with the same foot as your throwing arm, but I find it better opposite like you do. It helps keep me balanced.

It feels good so far, definitely a good rhythm

I’m in this dilemma right now. Just joined my first league and i don’t want to step, less movement = less to go wrong. But as a baseball player i naturally want to step, i might try the small step you have. Great looking throw!

The big step had me all over the place, the short step feels solid!

Pretty cool! I’ve been playing about as long as you and in the last 4 months I’ve won 3 blind draws and a rookies single’s, been working hard on Jay Rubins throw and seems to be working good but I like that move your doing too ! FISH ON brother!

Same here. Reason is I have tennis elbow and helps w my rhythm to throw. Reminds me of modified softball pitchers

Honestly, throwing without a step I was getting some elbow pain, hoping this helps with that too

Had to try it and ur technique worked for me too once figured it out I can aim my body more and u do get the weight going and less effort to throw.

The step has really made my game a lot more consistent and accurate. Again it not even a real step just a baby step to get my body moving. Way less effort to throw and push plus my airmail is way more on point.
