I'm a Little Disappointed in Taiga's New Figure. 

The original fishnet design was so much more appealing. I think a figure like this with a brighter torso piece could’ve really benefited from the darker tone of the original fishnets. Also not a fan about how they went about the tail. Feels so off compared to the rest of the figure.

Wow i didn’t notice the stocking thing until you pointed it out and personally the ones from the promotional pictures look better, they somehow helped the orange pop more.

I made this review in a day. A NEW RECORD! Anyway after ya'll get mad at me for this one, lemme know your thoughts on her. As a side note, I did look into the Amazon return process, and I can do it, but if the return shipping that I have to pay for is over 12k(forced to use DHL as well), they'll refund the rest in amazon credit...I'm pretty sure a box this big with DHL is going to cost a TON considering I don't have business rates soooooo I have no idea how this is gonna end up

Just discovered your channel, but I really appreciate how you aren't talking down to the viewer(by saying stuff like "This is only my opinion") and are direct to the point. It is interesting to see such a comparison to the two side by side, and I didn't know that freeing slacked on their rereleases like that. Thanks for the video, you got yourself a new viewer.

The tights being not as advertised is the biggest blow for this figure imo, second by the hair color change. The tighter fishnet REALLY pulls the figure together visually, but the final product fishnets being the more loose ones messes up the contrast for me. I own their rerelease of the My Dear Bunny Miku and from what I can see she is 1:1 to her original release, some comments mention her eyes being duller but there's so many photos of this bunny that are edited with higher saturation than what you see irl, the unedited photos of the og release have similar eyes to my copy. QC is really hit or miss with them too, sometimes really bad ones (Miku coming to people decapitated) and it's a bit worrisome that their quality isn't great for how expensive their figures are getting. x-x;

It is really strange to change the tights like that last minute. Also didn't know the Ryuko was different (I own the red one) until you pointe it out. Luckily, mine doesn't have any other issues though, so I'm still happy.

honestly i much prefer the bunny version, i like the colors so much more and the face i think fits her more. the colors are the biggest thing for me when it comes to these 2 specifically because the whiteand orange just look so pretty but i do like the idea of the tiger version and the prototypes were really cute

I'm kinda done with FREEing/BINDing tbh. Between their insane aftermarket prices and their rising retail prices I just can't justify it anymore. A lot of their figures are fantastic don't get me wrong, but at the current retail prices if I preorder one FREEing/BINDing bunny that's my entire figure budget for the month. And God help me if anything gets delayed. BINDing announced one saitom design recently that I'm obsessed with, and after that one I'm not ordering anything else from either of them unless they do something REALLY special :/

Hope you can get your replacement parts! Damn, now I'm worried about the bare legged C.C. bunny I PO'd. I wasn't aware of FREEing re-releases getting the lazy treatment. Whatever the case, that C.C. bunny figure is the only bunny I ever wanted to collect, so I will likely find a way to cope lmao

I certainly hope the new replacement comes through for you - as the biggest Taiga person I ever knew. Thanks for the heads up as I will definitely be checking mine when I receive it sometimes this week from Amiami. Aside from the QC aspect, you made valid observations about the part of being shortchanged on the re-releases.. which I can't even try to speculate that they are maybe trying to differentiate the two figures. It's clearly a step down.

I hope This Taiga figure tanks in the aftermarket, and maybe you can cop a fire ass deal for it.

I am sorry to hear about how the Tiger Taiga turned out. Given the controversy surrounding her announcement, FREEing should have taken extra care with her release to avoid courting further backlash. Hopefully the QC issues with your unit is an outlier and do not represent the bulk of the production units. And hopefully you will be able to get a replacement for her without shelling out more money on shipping. With that said, I appreciate hearing your genuine thoughts on the figure you received. QC issues aside, you made many great points in your review, particularly regarding changes to the figure's core design, like her tights. These are clearly changes and not deviations. At some point, we need to hold the figure manufacturers accountable. Keep giving them free passes will only make things worse for everyone in the long run. Anyway, great video as always!

Honestly I love my Tiaga, there are no QC issues at all for me, she has been my little desktop tiger since she came in about 3 weeks ago.

Jeez, the fishnets color change alone is enough to disappoint me. It's really unfortunate no other companies have gone "all-in" on licensed char 1/4s, FREEing needs the competition. Mimeyoi's Duke of York and Hobby Stock's Hikage really showed me how overpriced B-Styles are.

I know it would have been hard, but I wish they'd somehow flipped the post of the tiger figure, that way they'd look better displayed together. I personally prefer the tiger, but I never watched the show and thing this figure is more unique than some of the other bunnies. Also unrelated, but I wanna steal your Haruko shirt. I wonder if the reason for the difference in hair colors is because they have issues mixing up the same ratios of colors when they remake them? I don't know if it's poured into a mold that color or is painted on, but whether they have to mix the colors in the plastic or in the paint itself, I can see them having issues getting the same exact ratios. I'd chalk that one up to human error personally, but that's cause I have some experience paint mixing. I don't know for sure how it's done, but that would be my bet for why the color of paint is off.

i love your shirt so much lol, anybody know WTB? My opinions (likely skewed considering i've only seen MFC photos and don't own her) what stood out before you even mentioned it was that bright mustard yellow. I figured it was your camera at first but i really wish there were more airbrushing. It's a corny latex pin-up theme so it doesn't feel out of place, but for a figure of this price and size etcetc the paint job and the QC issues are really souring my taste of Freeing considering their pricing lately. This kind of solidifies my personal distaste of getting into bunnies because the headaches that come with these hyped up figures is nowhere near worth the detolf modding and empty wallet in my setup preferences. I really wish we had more alternate ear costumes like catgirls and wolf/mouse/lamb etc ears because slapping a playboy bunny suit on everyone and giving the shyer characters a bashful face , it's not cutting it anymore man. I haven't seen the show but I really like taiga as a little tiger. I would also really like more unique bunny figures that have a party or show theme but a solid portion of bunnies I've seen they just look really bland in pose and have zero props or character-specific attributes, poses are rarely dynamic, and it unfortunately has given me a bias to "oh, just another bunny figure". Even with characters I particularly like I just can't justify it anymore. Speaking of themes and props I really liked freeings sumika and meiya since they look like they're hosting a party at a hostess club. I just want more variety, and it's definitely out there, but lately not with freeing because it's not their selling point. Just my personal preference and I'm sure bunny collectors have their own tastes.

Man that sucks on the taiga figure. Definitely valid on all your points of critique on the figure. I was also questioning the fishnets because yea why did they promote the darker fishnets even on the prototype photos? So lame :/ I'm hoping when mine arrives it doesn't have too many faults. My original bunny taiga came with the tiniest little chip/indent on her belly but the paint was done over it so im pretty sure she was damaged before painting and they still let it get thru QC. Anyway mini rant over, thanks for your vid on the taiga figure! Any input is so helpful for collectors. Im sure you might help others decide if its worth getting this figure

On the one hand, it is almost impossible to get two batch of paint to come out the same color, which is why you need to paint your house in one go etc, if you buy two buckets of the same paint a month apart, they are likely to be subtlety different, and those are professionally and industrially mixed. Custom paint mix, which figure companies uses, will vary more. On the other hand, if re-releases are always duller, than this can't be the cause. Because it should be random in terms of which way it goes. I don't have any duplicates of any sort so I can't really compare to check.

Thing with inflation prices is: They will never justify the quakity. For example cucumbers 2 years ago here used to cost 39 cents a piece. Now its 2,50euros a piece. Its insane. Vut is the cucumber worth the up prise in terms of quality and taste? No. It is still the same cucumber. Same with the figures. Costs go up. They hike up the prices even more for a bit more profit this year. But the quality has had no changes because that would create even more costs. Even better most of them will even suffer quality due to laying off people most likely to save money. Some companies do operate in that way. Thats why I like garagekits. They cost 10 times more than normal figures (500 to 2000) if you are having tgem painted by a professional but omg the quality next to an massproduced one is night and day

I had her pre ordered, but had to cancel due to budget, and with so many issues for the price maybe it's better that I did, I am still interested in getting her as she is IMO the best Taiga figure I have seen, but I am worried about the QC and the brighter fishnet color is definitely a downgrade.

Yeah, my first freeing bunny had a few deep black scuffs that luckily I was able to wipe off with eraser, but had some visible glue marks that couldn't be fixed. Don't worry about being 'negative' or criticizing your purchases, personally would like to know the bad of a figure especially with these insane prices nowadays and shoddy QC on top of it. The darker fishnets look a lot better too and the tail looks so cheaply made. This hobby feels like robbery sometimes lol, barely purchasing anymore as its hard to justify with the rising cost of everything else. If its possible can you update on the situation/replacement process for amazonjp? Thats my main site to order figures for how fast and cheap it is, so I'm just waiting for the day I get unlucky and have to return. They asked me to send it back using DHL, but I opted to keep it anyway. I heard they check whats inside the package, not sure if that's true.

Sorry to hear your disappointment-it sucks to get a figure and have it not live up to expectations. Darker tights would have (like another commenter said) tie it together visually and really sell the honeybee color scheme. Hopefully you can get a replacement. I still think the Tiger version is superior as it is so much more unique and in-character. I think creating shading on the shiny latex suit would have been very hard to execute so I understand why they didn't go with that. I'm not wild about the tail but only because it reminds me of those plastic snimal toys by companies like Schleich, but from the front it doesn't bug me. I think it's just not particularly attractive from the front. But considering I don't like those two colors together typically I think they did a very good job of making it not totally atrocious. There are some FREEing bunnies coming out in some really appalling color schemes, in my opinion. I'm betting she'll grow on you over time.

Hi Zucco, I've always enjoyed watching your video contents mainly due to the amount of passion you'd put into describing every figure. Likewise, I felt your huge disappointment there when your most fav character Taiga has some product quality issue, despite being priced expensively & also with the "rerelease" controversial issue from Freeing. I hope u r able to get proper justice treatment from Amazon Japan for the return. Wish you well.

I noticed right away when the video started that the tights looked the same as the bunny and I thought that was odd... That's really disappointing that they changed it because I liked the darker tights. :( The QC issues are a huge bummer, too. There really should not be so many QC problems with FREEing figures given how much they cost. I was thinking of selling my bunny Taiga, but definitely gonna have to wait to see how my tiger one turns out first. I have one other bunny figure on order (Junko), but I think after that, I am going to avoid FREEing tbh.

The hair difference is interesting. I am gonna guess that the main hair pigment is not a pure color from a manufacturer but a mixture, hence just a few grams more of a dark component will dull the color, yet not enough to notice that without comparisons or delta measurements, and on top of that clearly the artist that did airbrushing on the tiger version overdid the gradient on top, perhaps even intentionally, which would be still ok if the underlying coat was not already bleak. I wonder how they actually document the process of replication of their own work in this industry...

honestly i think the tiger one is much better simply due to the mouth and base. The downsides don't really bug me, but I think I might be part of the problem for excusing these issues lol

Ngl I was mad for everyone when I saw the tiger announcement debacle (not much of a toradora fan). And idk if it’s just your figure that got scuffed, but still it sucks to see this for you 😭 Looking at it especially w/the bunny for comparison, I do agree with you. While she’s cute and unique for the tiger bits, she doesn’t really outshine the bunny ver nor really live up to the hype;;; Really hope you’re able to get replacements tho! ❤️

FREEing are already scraping the absolute bottom of the barrel when it comes to quality so seeing them manage to fall further while charging more and making more and more baffling decisions and boring headswaps as the years go on is disappointing, though not surprising. I've yet to have my taiga show up by if those fishnets and tail are anything to go by I'll probably be selling her on.

Aren't the tights usually photo-edited to be darker than they are? I remember when I got my X-10 Bunny, her promo pictures has really nice, detailed, nearly opaque tights. I LOVED the contrast of her nearly black outfit with the red details, but the actual tights are more like your tiger bunnies tights. I don't think they even change anything, they're just advertising the wrong sh*t-- cos some figures look better with darker tights but they don't actually use different tights for different figures

Follow up post... received her. She's massive and very cute. There are lots of paint artifacts for the price and scale, however. A few tiny dark marks on her body suit. Hair is okay... i will keep it. But if i find more issues i will contact amiami for a replacement... i really don't want to. All in all she's very nice. I won't be buying more bunnies or freeing figures any time soon. Edit: found a hair in her paint... will be contacting amiami after... i really really didn't want to...

I did like Toradora but not enough to get Taiga. I like the look of the bunny but the tiger version is more eye catching and interesting at a first glance. The tights played a big role in the overall look, so that is too bad they didnt stick with it. Thanks for the video and good luck deciding on what to do with sending it back, not sure it's worth it. I've bought two bunny figures since I've started collecting and I have sold both, not because anything was wrong with them though. Quality control and changes seem to be happening more often, plus the price increases.

Who knew this figure had some many discrepancies. The only FREEing figure I was interested in was their Saber, so I had no idea how they handled re-releases or how their quality is. I pretty much don't buy FREEing figures, since most of them are bunny figures which I am not interested in. Their prices also mostly suck.

For the first time I actually Disagree with a few of the points made here… and that’s okay! Minus the QC issues I’m happy with how she turned out from what I’ve seen. I also Think it’s a different situation for people that just have the tiger version vs collectors who have both, which you kind of hit on in the video.

Can't watch this video. Don't want to get de-hyped on a figure I have coming in the mail. Maybe I'll watch after I form my own opinion.

I think the tone difference comes from the Bunny version has larger and rounder fishnet holes. The Tiger version in the photos has a tighter oval shape that run in a more vertical rows giving the darker appearance. I also don't see the red hue on the tips on the Tiger VS the Bunny version. As for the hair difference on the red Ryuko VS the black I think Freeing maybe trying to keep a red-black theme and the blue highlights might mess that up. Remember the OG black version has blue highlights on the bunny suit so the blue highlight on the hair complements that.
