Valentin Pavia was born in Mexico City. When he was 8 years old his father wanted a better life for him, so his family moved to the United States. When he was 15 years old, he started to drink heavily. Not too long after, the police started to know who he was and knew to search for both alcohol and drugs. He ended up in jail as a result. After his first time in jail, he was determined to not go back. But that didn’t happen. The addiction was too strong, and he ended up going back to jail for three months. Valentin knew he probably would not be alive if it were not for his mother and her prayers. He knew he needed to change. He started praying for help to get over his addictions. A few weeks later the missionaries arrived at his door. Instead of seeing the future with gloom, Valentin can look at it with happiness and hope. Valentin is a hard worker, sober, and a Mormon.
