My name is Arslan and I’ve been living in vehicles for the past few years. My journey of alternative living began after I was fed up with the high cost of rent in the United States. I fell in love with the idea of living on the road, so over the years, I converted a sprinter van, a Camaro and most recently been living in my 2014 chevy suburban camper car. I enjoy making RU-vid videos and recording my different experiences to share with you guys. I’m also a nurse half days of the week because I have a significant passion for helping people.
In This video: I show you what my day looks like while working at a hospital as a registered nurse in the united states and living in my car.
RU-vid Posting Schedule: I usually post on Saturdays 9am EST (NY time). I'm currently posting 1 video every 2 weeks but I'm working towards posting 1 video a week.
I love reading your comments and wish I could reply to all of you but my schedule doesn't allow. But I always reply to SUPER CHATS because they pop up on my phone!
P.S. If I need to tell you guys something, I will comment and pin it on my latest video.
All of my long form videos can be found in this playlist: • How I Live In My Car W...

@lisapen9207, I cannot agree more. My husband has had many health challenges over our 30 plus years of marriage. I always told him, if there were no nurses in the hospital people wouldn't go there even though they were sick! The nurses are your connection to the rest of the sometimes complicated medical system. They are God's angels. His hands and feet and, most importantly, smile and positive spirit. You can't put a price on what that means to the patient! Big love to all of you!❤️🩷🩵💛

My husband lived in his car in a hospital underground parking garage for four days. Miles away from home he couldn’t afford a hotel room because everything in the general area was very expensive, but there he was living in his car while waiting for me to get through surgery and recovery. He said it was tough at times but being able to visit and spend time with me every day without having to travel so far made it an easy choice. I love him everyday for it.

I really wish more employers offered parking spaces for "van life" employees right on the company property --- it would make them a more attractive employer because everyone loves having FREE rent and literally walking a couple hundred feet to work in the morning! I really can't see why this is so difficult --- just provide water and electric hookups for every parking space, and possibly shower and bathroom facility. Other perks like free WiFi and pet daycare would be cool, too.

I am a retired RN living in northern California . I was an LVN for 8 years and an RN for 27 years. I worked as a nurse in 5 states but was certified in 10 states. Luckily for me California finally started paying RNs a more equitable wage for the past decade. But California also has one of the highest cost of living in the country. Nursing is a very exhausting profession. It takes lots of physical and mental stamina to be a nurse. Many people leave the profession after only 3 years due to burnout. The physical toll on body and mind often leads to injury. Nursing is a very stressful occupation, and every nurse is always aware that exhaustion can result in errors which can impact the patient. Nursing is not a profession for the weak. Living in a van at least takes some of the stress away from the problem of getting enough sleep and the anxiety of getting to work on time !

Amen. The other thing people don't seem to want to talk about is when nurses get hurt on the job and they get seriously hurt often They end up on disability. Everyone knows if you're on disability you don't make enough to be able to feed a cat 2 times a month! It's ridiculous and repulsive when you look at what the CEO & Board of Directors are paying themselves every year! For sitting on their big fat butts and doing nothing!!! Not to mention the amount of physical assaults that nurses experience. Some of my friends working in inner-city ER's are being physically assaulted every other shift! On top of training new Doctors, making sure they don't kill patients. While watching a psych patient. Making sure they don't try to grab a cart and go into a bathroom and hurt themselves! On top of rotating through numerous patients that are waiting for their paperwork or medication! I don't know how you all have hair left in your head when you go home at night?? I would have ripped it out in the first hour. I always tell people Nurses are 😇 walking amongst us. Thank you for your service. I know that had you gone to San Francisco or some of the bigger cities you would have been paid double and triple. My friend works in a central coastal hospital and does it for the love of helping people and because she loves where she lives. It's very disheartening when all she does is train younger people who can drive 45 minutes north and make an additional $20,000 to $60,000 a year. If people only knew. It's not at all unusual for her to go from doing one-on-one critical rehab care to scrubbing in to help a surgeon with an emergency surgery and then finishing out doing another rotation in the ER because they've had too many other nurses that have timed out on service hours. This happens on a regular basis it is incredibly rare that she gets 2 days off in a row and is not called into work after doing double and triple shifts. All white being grossly underpaid in comparison to her counterparts that are 45 minutes north of her. It really stinks when most of those are fresh nursing students and you've got 35 plus years and you're literally clocking in all around the hospital Non-Stop! If the general public only knew how fragile the healthcare system is. They'd be demanding some real change. ❤

I'm an EMT and I work 9am to 10pm 3 days in a row plus overtime. I work an hour away from my apartment so I'm doing partial van life on my work days. I head in the night before when my family goes to bed and live outside the station for the next 3 days. It saves me over 100 miles and about 5 hours of driving every week. I don't really miss out on family time since I'd get home after they are in bed and leave right when they wake up. Plus I get more downtime without the daily commute. I have a plug, all the conveniences of home (sofa, bed, toilet, tv/dvd, kitchenette) and a gym nearby to shower. Everyone I work with knows what I do but the neighboring businesses don't. It's a very comfortable situation for maximizing my time and minimizing my expenses and gives me 4 days off every week to spend with my family. Loved the video. Feels like having a virtual neighbor.

Nursing professors need to teach the importance of bedside manners, empathy and how to calm their ego's. Most RN's I've dealt with especially the newbies walk around with a chip on their shoulder and put themselves at the same level as Doctors. They need to be knocked down a couple of notches. All you see now is nurses congregating around the nurses station, laughing and joking around and staying on their phones while patients have called upon them for an hour. It's the CNA's and LPN's that do most the work with the patients. I've concluded that I'm not fond of RN's.

There is a difference between the number of male nurses versus female nurses. Statistically, male nurses are at a record high of 21% in 2021 compared to 7% in 2008 based on "registered nurse" statistics. I worked for a phone company for 18 years, and there was a 20 to 1 female versus male in that industry. So, speaking about an industry that in past years was primarily women IS GOOD. I will not be told what to think or speak about because I grew up in the US in the 60s and 70s. I know the power of freedom of speech. It keeps us free!

Thanks to all the doctors and nurses that do so much for society. I'll never forget the one morning when I was at a hospital as a patient and was discharged before 7:00 am. I was in the reception area waiting for my ride and I got to observe a whole army of medical staff filing into the hospital. It was an amazing sight! 😊

Many people have no idea how stressful and difficult nursing is. I was an NP. Even when not "working" I was always reviewing my day's events, thinking about the next day and how my patients and their families were doing, and reading journals. I rarely felt I'd done enough but knew I'd done what I could within the time and financial constraints. I've been a patient a few times and made sure the staff knew I appreciated them (without revealing my secret identity). A good nurse is hard to find these days. Their love for nursing has been drained out by poor management. Keep going and know you are appreciated.

I love curling up in my van with Netflix and crunchy snacks. It's such a treat. The simplest things are harder in a van, but you appreciate the smallest things like running water, electricity, a warm shower and a cold refrigerator. A comfy bed is everything. I like at least a 6-inch mattress, but well done on your set-up.

We can all practice being a little LESS judgemental especially towards things that don’t affect us. I’m going to reevaluate some things that i can live without. Thanks for showing us how you live!! 😊

I admire all of these people who have taken control of their finances by not living in the so-called normal living conditions ,they are saving a ton of money. Most of them are happy. I wish I was in a different space and time in my life because I would do the same thing.

I would want you for a nurse. Looks like the new build suits you with the exception of the high bed. Glad you decided to altar it. As hard as you work you need to rest. You are my favorite car/van dweller because you maintain your home and actually live clean and organized. Take care!❤

I have watched hundreds maybe 1000 videos of people living in vans and RVs because it fascinates me and you are the most amazing of them all. First of all hats off to you for your work. A nurse is the heart of the hospital. And the efficiency of your vehicle as a home is, amazing beyond comparison. Great work keep it up.
