They used to say if you're in a hole stop digging, so why is Labour wasting billions closing down our last two blast furnaces for making high carbon specialist steels and building electric arc steel plants which cannot produce such steels? The steel we require will have to be imported adding to the carbon footprint via the necessary transportation, the benefits needed for the 6000 redundant workers alone will cost more than the winter fuel payment for pensioners and the extra electricity required for the new furnaces will increase demand on an increasingly scarce supply of electricity meaning at Best Buying increased amounts of foreign gas and electricity. This is just one instance of waste of public money there are countless others.
