Congratulations! I have been married for almost 12 years. We did NOT live together before we got married and I definitely feel the first year was very tough adjusting. Now that I’m older, I think it makes more sense for a couple to live together before tying the knot for this exact reason! You have to know if you can deal with their quirks and be good partners together under the same roof. Why should the first year be “hard” it should only be amazing!

My husband and I only moved in together when we were engaged and have been together 7 years at that point and living together and our first year of marriage was the easiest and happiest thing ever!

I was literally just thinking to myself the other day "I wonder where Amy has been lately...oh, she's probably just busy getting married." 😊 Also, I have been married for 12 years, and I would say for us, the hardest year was after having our first child. It was just such an adjustment process (for both of us, but I definitely struggled a ton with postpartum anxiety). The first year of being married was nothing in comparison, even though we did not live together beforehand.

Congratulations! 🎉 2024 bride too! we got engaged last November and married March 1 with just officiant, our parents and sibling at our favorite restaurant. Then we bought our first house in April. So we both say marriage is great, but home ownership is harder than we thought 😆. I think any life changes add stress and that’s what makes certain time periods harder. We have to choose each other and know that these challenges we will work through together.
