Strong talk. I am sick of "proving" and "challenging stereotypes" that's not my life goal I have bigger dreams and my time can be used in a wiser way than explaining and showing a positivity
@youcometome9 bruh what do yo think that Islam promote terrorism , i thought terrorism does not have any religion so are you saying something else and i can't get you?
Joud Toamah Well, where is the venue of this talk? It seems to be either at Covent Garden opera house or from some theatre in Covent Garden, in the West End of London. Apart from the hijab-wearing young lady appearing here, on stage as it were, how many Muslim women, inclined to wear the hijab, have appeared on this very stage in a play, musical or opera? I wonder. May a young lady in the U.K. who wears a hijab dream of 'taking to the stage'? To carve a career in the arts as a Shakespearean actor? Or stage musical starlet? Or is it always going to be the case that the next time we see a young lady of Muslim background performing on this stage will be at the next doom-laden talk event in ten or twenty years' time? As you must see, I want to challenge the old stereotypes, too. And I ain't sick of it. Any hope?
Oh if muslims women only read the quran with their own eyes and not listen to their lying mullas. The job of a imam is to to keep the sheeple in a state of ignorance for better control and not to enlighten muslims on quranic verses. I challenge any muslim women to actually read what the quran chapter(sura) 4 An-Nisa(The Women) says about you as well as authentic(sahih) hadiths such as "Sahih Bukhari" and "Sahih Muslim" will do. Once you read and understood the verse i will congratulate you on your apostasy and freedom from the shackles of 1slam.
No woman in a burqa (or a hijab or a burkini) has ever done me any harm. But I was sacked (without explanation) by a man in a suit. Men in suits missold me pensions and endowments, costing me thousands of pounds. A man in a suit led us on a disastrous and illegal war. Men in suits led the banks and crashed the world economy. Other men in suits then increased the misery to millions through austerity. If we are to start telling people what to wear, maybe we should ban suits. - Henry Stewart
Maybe you were sacked because you're clueless. The point is women and children are not equal humans to muslim men - that is a fact. Why don't you migrate to Raqqa and see if you can get a job working for a woman in a burqa.
This resonated so deeply with a conflict within me as a Muslim woman that I didn’t even know existed. I guess that goes to show just how narrowly our problems may have been pigeonholed until now
Fantastic talk. Thank you for talking about what we’ve all been thinking! As a Muslim woman I really am sick and tired of talking about these constant narratives.
Giulia. Will dear if u don’t agree with it doesn’t mean it is wrong and it need to change by human rules Islam is religion from Allah god our creator and he knows the best for what he creates and unlike other religions Islam remain the same without human changing in it to match what they desired and wants
Amazing!!!!! So true Why should we always PROVE that we are not oppressed coz the truth is we are not Let's not stereotype every social problem to be Islamic and let's look at it keeping aside the stereotypes and hypocrisy 🙂
Why is it that not one muslim-majority nation is secular? how come you want equal rights when only as a minority? Where are the equal rights for minorities in countries where muslims are the majority?
@Earth Being Amazing how quickly they start demanding equal rights, everyone must be treated the same regardless of religion as soon as they find themselves powerless as a minority As soon as they become the majority, gain in numbers, they start their religious abuse! The most two-faced people on the planet! What is sad is the western media takes their side! Never asks them about their hypocrisy!
@@mdziyad9610 this is silly - how many muslims have fled to christian countries? How many muslims still work for jews in israel What does that prove? You guys got lucky you found oil under your feet - take that away muslim countries would be dirt poor

How much longer does Islam want to live in ignorance. Sharia is the ignorance of Islam that has always been fought for, where it is the destruction of humanity on this earth.
@MMA TRAINER how bout you read quran, and not focus on one specific instruction. besides, Allah is the greatest, and he does everything for a reason, even if it is not clear to us at this momment
Her words are not true. If she would actually believe muslim women are entitled to wear what ever they please, she would encourage muslim women and men all around the world to support those muslim women who decide not to wear hijab or burkini. But that is something we don't see happening. I am tired of listening to stories of muslim women how bad they were treated when undoing their hijabs. Please start supporting those publicly and loud who don't want wear hijab and recognise their value even though they do not dress accordingly when it comes to religious traditions. Let's hear more stories of liberal and kind islam that allows people to live as they please!
Gender equality in Quran: the word gender equality we tend to think means "the same". Quran teaches gender equity as opposed to gender equality- Rather than being the same/alike, men and women are complementary to one another. Therefore unlike the world that teaches women to emulate men in order to be equal, based on the flawed view that one is better than the other because woman was created from a man(Bible version Eve created from the rib of Adam), Quran teaches that "men and women are created from a single soul...and fear Allah particularly respecting ties of kinship". "And of everything we have created pairs that you may reflect"
So why don't Muslim women don't get to drive, right to education? Why only women have to cover their entire bodies and why not men? Why only men are allowed to marry 4 women?
@@Hrshsngh_19 Yes there needs to be some reformation in some Muslim communities (Quran God's Words is perfect, followers need to apply it properly), as throughout history men have assumed the leadership of all faiths and injected their own chauvinistic views, a human flaw.
@@Hrshsngh_19 That polygamy verse was revealed as a solution to protect women, specific to the context of that time of war when many men died and many women (widows, orphans) left without protectors/providers for the family - in the olden days, women couldn't work/lack education, not like nowadays. Plus the laws for crime against women not yet exist. Apply context, those circumstances no longer apply today. Nowadays that verse is misinterpreted by some ppl to oppress women by saying it is their God given right to take 4 wives. It was never meant as a solution for men's roving eye! Hence Quran verse that says "lower your gaze". Quran does not give ppl any license to sin! Quran understood in its entirety: Monogamy is the order of the day. Polygamy was a solution for days of war, the effects of war lasted several generations. Nowadays ppl use the reasoning that the Prophet and companions had multiple wives (ignoring the circumstances of war and widow status) claiming that gives them the right to emulate them, which many later generations continued to do so. Quran warns against following the ways of our fathers instead of following Quran only as guidance. 2:170 And when it is said to them, "Follow what Allah has revealed," they say, "Rather, we will follow that which we found our fathers doing
Women are "regular" people. And HUMAN RIGHTS ARE UNIVERSAL. Asking for Islam to follow Human Rights, i.e. to respect women`s rights and personal freedom, is no bigotry.
Islam have women rights before anyone else. The right to education, the right to work etc. the first ever university was created by a Muslim women. Women during the prophet(SAW) time were working if they wished.
its trueee. people should be able to wear what they want. it should be allowed for them to wear their garnments and stuff but it should never be enforced for them to wear it.
"people should be able to wear what they want" Absolutely. I come from Iran and people can wear whatever they want (within the bounds of modesty, of course).
Let me first say I believe in equality, men and women should have equal rights. I don’t personally know how Muslims are treated in western culture, but the two Muslim men I work with when ask said they do not feel discriminated against most of the time. This woman said that Muslim men are being shown as the punisher of Muslim women but that isn’t true, and I agree but just like any woman who is being abused if you don’t report it no one can help you, so please all who are abused say something. While I was deployed in Afghanistan I saw a lot of horrible things being done to Muslim women by Muslim men. I personally don’t know what the answer is but we should be creating a world where victims should be able to receive the help and protection they need.
It stems from culture that has existed pre-islam mixed in with mis interpretation of text in quran. The quran states that men are protectors and providors over women. This also sometimes traslated to regulators etc. This is supposed to be a verse talking about obligations of men to women, the rights women deserve from men.but instead prople twist it to mean that a woman must obey her husbands every wish and command outside of reason. Another text describes a situation in which a wife has been unfaithful. How the best of men are those best to their wives and practice patience but because theyre are tempermental (whilst this is not encouraged) he can lightly tap her skin, not in a way to inflict pain but as a symbolic gesture in an argument that signigies they are close to divorce so she understands the gravity of the situation. If the man actually hurts her ,and her skind turns slightly red she reserves the right to have all her duas against him fulfilled and the angel curse each step he takes. Voilence against women calls for immediate divorce. Pre-islam people buried their daughters alive and neglected their wives, hence why these were some of the first things addressed in islam. One of the last things the prophet saud before passing was to protect the women . It would be disheartning if he saw what muslim men were doing today.
It's because they're not able to peddle their agenda. Boohoo. I think Muslim woman are waking up to the fact that the narratives created in the Media is just to further/justify violence and hate. It's only a matter of time that people wake up after they're lied to. The truth always comes out. It always does.
Some quote from the Quran ... An-Nisa, 34 "Men look after women, because Allah has made the one of them to excel the other, and because they spend of their property (for the support of women). So good women are the obedient, guarding in secret that which Allah hath guarded. As for those from whom ye fear rebellion, admonish them and banish them to beds apart, and scourge them. Then if they obey you, seek not a way against them. Lo! Allah is ever High, Exalted, Great." -> if you fear that your wife did adultery, you can beat her. If you FEAR. al-Baqarah 2:223 "Your wives are your tilth; go, then, unto your tilth as you may desire" Quran 4:34 "Men are in charge of women, because Allah hath made the one of them to excel the other, and because they spend of their property (for the support of women). So good women are the obedient" Muhammed married a girl when she was 6 and consume the marriage when she was 9 ... But no, people have prejudice ! And what I said earlier wasn't tell by a muslim woman, it must be untrue ... It is a narrative created by the Media, it is impossible that people can do some independant research, no no ... By the way, I don't think the bible and the ancient testament is better in is treatment of women if somebody would be tempted to go on this way. I don't have a television too. But it must be the "Media" that I don't watch that make me say that. It is impossible to look at history of the past or have an independant thought. Conspiracy is a better explanation ...
Jazakallahu khairan sister. This has touched me in such a deeper level given the fact that I am struggling tackling the problem of the 'seem things' being the 'real things' in the world we live in today! Ah! I am exhausted myself!
So true, I never knew this type of societal attentions until I wore the hijab identifying me as a Muslim woman, not necessarily harmful but very unhelpful in a whole. I can understand curiosity, but it's really perplexing to witness these stereotypes and assuming a covered are always oppressed. I can understand that not every human can choose their life, especially women, but that's not the case of all women. People need to accept the fact that there are Muslim women can choose things for themselves and people need to stay out of our business. May God make it easy for all my sisters.
The word (ضرب) has various definations in arabic it doesn't only mean to hit but also means to multiply, give an example, and move away from someone/something The correct translation for the verse that the westerns criticize islam for regarding women rights is to move away from the wife not to hit her because in the next verse god says to help the said wife and husband to reconcile If the verse means the husband should hit his wife to submit and obey ,god wouldn't care to mention that people should help them to reconcile back, if god wanted the wife to obediently submit to her husband he wouldn't make people help both the husband and the wife to make up with each other again ! Any way westerns dont know god , and his values ( names) that defines what he really is and his true divine nature and thats important to understand the quran, like how would you understand a book without knowing his writer and his values well ! God is merciful, kind, fair,(mohsin) love to do good and who also does good, peaceful, protector,..etc and yet people in the west speak very ignorantly against him astgfr allah ! A husband who hits his wife is not just toxic he is not a real man , and such man wouldn't provide for his wife or his family and children he would be stingy with money a fact that many women who have such husbands/fathers sadly live with, in the west, the middle east, aisa, or any part in the world ! So be it a religious person or not ,an abusive narcissitic husband/father=miserly husband/father and thats a fact !
If Saudi Arabia, which is the birthplace of Islam, forbids woman to drive & punishes apostates by death, then no one should really complain why Islamophobia exists.
Now, here , Muslim women, in Saudi Arabia, First off, that rule sucked honestly, till 2018 they removed the rule, punishing apostates? Nope, you can leave islam there, okay? But should you ahead and tell everybody “I LEFT ISLAM LEAVE WITH ME” no, because that’s what they do and that’s why they end up LIEK that, Also no they don’t die, they have 3-20 days to repent, and if they do they’re alive, and plus you can say you repented but you didn’t in your heart, (big sin btw) Anyway, so instead of learning islam in social media lets open the Quran together. Allah never ordered us to kill non-Muslims, gonna give me the verse without truly understanding it or knowing the context, then I’ll explain
Im a muslim, had college degree, running small business on my own, legally divorcee since 2015. Its quite normal here in Indonesia, even in small town like myself. Hi My name is Eva, btw😅😅😅

@Real world actually, all of them. as it states in the quran, its haram(strictly prohibitted) to force your daughter to marry out of love or to settle a tab or whatevr .the last 2 questions arent 1, islams fault, its the governments fault, and 2, arent limmited to only muslim women

If you would repudiate the woman's witness rule in the Quran (2 women=1 man), repudiate hadith Bukhari 2658 which refers to the deficiency of a woman's mind, and repudiate hadith Bukhari 7099 which disparages the leadership of women, you would have some credibility.
She says nothing about all these miserable people from muslim countries who risk their lives to escape from these countries in order to come and ejnoy freedom in the West. She is a Trojan Horse of the Governments of these Countries like Soviets a few years ago.
1. Christians aren’t all bad 2. “Her country”, like many countries are probably war torn, and in general, countries like America have better opportunities
Sexism is everyone's problem and that is why people complain about sexism among muslims and Islam. But do muslims talk against sexism in their religion . No they try to live with it.
If you’re gonna continue spouting lies and rumors telling us we’re oppressed and Islam is a sexist religion, then we will give you a answers, but yeah people are gonna ignore
What we are talking about ? ..... We have milions of wonderful speeches about our future and development of human race e.g. Steve Jobs buddist , Stephen Hawking atheist, Brian Kent Kobilka catholic nobel etc.. and on the other hand this speeches about medieval rules and where just a woman want to convice us about freedom of women in the Muslim religion !! ... It sounds me counterintuitive and a just a "bit" of a throwback....
You are able to give this talk and talk bravely about your opinion and be proud of your religion because you are in Britain. If you were in your home country with no protection you wouldnt even be able to read.
I'm an atheist. I have Muslim friends. They respect women and other cultures. Men also do housework with gf or wife. They are kind. I think it is not a bad religion but people make it bad just like sick culture in middle east.
I am a hijabi. I am a successful Muslim woman. nobody not even my parents hd forced me into wearing d hijab. understanding d significance of d hijab to a female made me wear d hijab and dress appropriately. and I am satisfied with my hijab and attire. I feel dignified and my being as a Muslim woman doesnt need me to flaunt myself to any man. and I am highly respected by non muslims and even some of them r gangsters...and they...young and old address me as sister.... so why is d hijab always d main issue and is seen as a female discrimination? to me a female who exposes herself for the attn of a man is actually discriminating herself.....to b a public property...
Narrated `Aisha: The wives of the Prophet (ﷺ) used to go to Al-Manasi, a vast open place (near Baqi` at Medina) to answer the call of nature at night. `Umar used to say to the Prophet (ﷺ) "Let your wives be veiled," but Allah's Apostle did not do so. One night Sauda bint Zam`a the wife of the Prophet (ﷺ) went out at `Isha' time and she was a tall lady. `Umar addressed her and said, "I have recognized you, O Sauda." He said so, as he desired eagerly that the verses of Al-Hijab (the observing of veils by the Muslim women) may be revealed. So Allah revealed the verses of "Al-Hijab" (A complete body cover excluding the eyes). Reference : Sahih al-Bukhari 146 In-book reference : Book 4, Hadith 12
I think we should respect each other , spread love and end the hate .... you should ask people about their stories not what their religion is don’t judge a book by it’s cover ughhhh
The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) made a ranking for the position of women in 160 countries (SIGI). 40 of the 44 Islamic countries are in the bottom half of the list. The best Islamic country to be a women is Turkey at place 57. Of the 10 counries with the worst gender inequality 9 are Islamic.
As far as I can gather the argument is: Don't concern yourself with islam being discriminatory against women (don't critique our values). Instead worry about discrimination against muslims, women and muslim women especially. And if I can paraphrase even more abstractly: Think of us as members of oppressed groups (as defined by woke ideology) and don't complicate it with your logic and questions.
Women must always talk about being women. When I visit relatives they ask me about cooking, cleaning, boyfriend and children and I'm 17 years old! Ok, it's nothing wrong with these things, but asking me about them because I'm a woman is wrong. I like cooking, but that's because I'm ADQueen, not becuase I'm a woman. I hate people looking at me and thinging: "yeah, she's a woman. why is she wearing male jacket." I wear it because I like it and because I'm ADQueen, not just a woman!
bro why do you think it happens. because it's not a misconception. islam oppresses women. we need to talk about women in the west and around the world who ARE oppressed.
Clearly, you have not read Quran. If you want to be judgmental, at least educate yourself first so you don't sound like an Islamophobe. (I am assuming that you are not)
@hungered You are mixing historic culture and society with religion. Yes, people have misused religions to oppress women, but that is clearly not what is commanded by Allah. There are some different commands for women but that is because they are physically different. Did you know, women used to trade, work, fight in wars, debate in religious discussions and even lead groups of men in early days of Islam. This is the part of the history that many people forget about Islam. Rest, if you have made up your mind not to accept, you can always find nitty gritties and object.
What she means that whenever anyone is seen with a hijab or a burqa they are assumed to be oppressed by a muslim man. The thought process is like every muslim woman must be oppressed by a muslim man. That's what she means, that Islamophobia is most often associated with men, assuming they must have been forcing them and opposing that to those people is the same as freeing a woman when they are the ones that truly know nothing.
Sister you are the reason for their talk is because they are oppressed themselves but are ashamed to admit it. It’s better to point that “oppressed gun” at a weaker population. That is all.
The low frequency figure for honour killings in the UK is probably 'blown up' by the UK media because people must know that if young or not-so-young Muslim women in much greater numbers were to conduct themselves more generally like their fellow citizens of Christian background, many more honour killings would occur. The underlying cause for this concern for their fellow citizen (and honour killings have been rightfully reported by the press in Britain) is the multitude of restrictions that Muslim women face in life in the West. Their religion seems to be strongly opposed to much of the fun a lot of Westernised young women take for granted.
Talking about like this sensitive issue a speaker should say very smoothly and steadily because the Muslims all over the world and as well as other people have to understand the speech then they circulate their sense and able to leave comment and do something creatives. Though there is no subtitle moreover it's British accent, so it's a pretty tight to the viewers. However, problem comes from men, it's mighty be right and we can stand up many relevance against accused but you should withdraw the sound that some problems come from Islam, this is why ,Islam is the bestest religion all over the world. Therefore, be visual closer, realize harder and make sense wiser,
