You can try knotting parts of the longer locs that are thinned out in the midst of the loc. I've done that with success and it added to the integrity to the middle of my loc. Also, look into the Knotted Locs as a maintainence method for new growth. Knotted locs arrests all slippage. The new hairs that are added to existing locs stays put because they cannot slip out. I saw a lady named Melissa Blake I believe talk and share about Knotted locs. I didn't take her class but I figured out how to try it on my roots and it turned out pretty decent. I do it every now and again to maintain different areas, especially prone, to thinning or losing hair froms near the root of particular locs. You may try the knotted loc method on a loc that is out of sight to see how you live with it. By the way, I have medium small size braidlocs locs And after the birth my second daughter, the front of my hair, which had grown so thick and beautifully, thinned out so much that my front locs looked like a bush that was being held onto my head by six strands of hair😅😢. It took me redoing my parts and some locs to get a better look going. After several months, things started to look better and grow in normally. I was too busy to obsess over it too much (as I normally would- but kids...) and before I knew it, the front looked decent and normal. It was shorter than the rest of the locks but, at least it looked like the shorter length was an intentional bang. May God bless you on your loc and lifejourney

Hey Josette! I've seen a video recently where someone mentioned that the brand of conditioner your using causes hair loss. Also please pray for discernment on fenty products, just wanted to keep you safe. Be blessed!

Good plan Josette! I had postpartum hair loss after each of my 3 kids. I had my hair stylist trim ends and trim ends until all of the beautiful hair I had grownduring y pregnancy was gone. Then, about 30 years later, after menopause, I got locs. I will pro bably wear locs until I die. I'm glad to see there is a relatively easy way to take down a loc. I have thought about separating 2 locs that I combined when I was about 4 months into my loc journey. @ two years later they look fat! Thanks for providing content a lot of women will find useful.

You're right, the shock I had from postpartum shedding! Not only did I experience thinning edges but shedding in the middle too. The texture of my hair changed, which was so weird. It almost felt like synthetic hair. I had about 375 locs but next time i may want 200- 250 so that they may be more sustainable for my lifestyle as a mom to a toddler. Thank you for showing us the good and difficult part about microlocs.

I love the lip combo! While i dont have have post partum i found fo my hair when i had a loc that was thinning due to changes in jair grownor evwn adjustment to parts i usually would split locs if to big by creating a "hole" by going thought the same position on the rotation so it creates a split then after a few retigtjems cutting at the split to make two. And the other thing i would do is combine to strengthen the loc by combinig then combing out the loc and start a new loc as you suggested to create more manicure look. It just depends on the location and size of the loc. I hope that makes sense.

Thank you for sharing! I had some stress hair loss in the front of my hair in the winter of 2024 and I thought about cutting all of my locs off! My doctor told me to stop stressing and hair takes 90 day to recycle and she was right. I'm trying to manage my stress and it is growing back and it looks kinda like the front of your head, the hair regrowing. I just twist them whenever I wash my hair right now. I am in month 15 of my loc journey. After seeing this vid, I might comb out my perimeter and redo them.

I click on this video so fast lol. You are my inspirational for this micro locs journey. If you didn't show it up close i never would've know you had a little hair loss. Your locs looks so good to me. Thanks for sharing.

I had postpartum shedding really bad with my first set of sisterlocks and then by the time I got pregnant with my 2nd kid, I started a new loc journey and waited after the shedding lol😅

Yeah I don’t blame you. It’s definitely annoying dealing with postpartum shedding with locs.

Love the lippie! And TFS the details. Per the peripheral locs - in my experience it's usually not a good idea to go smaller on the periphery. If anything, they shouldn't even be the same size as the locs immediately behind them; they need to be bigger so they can withstand the daily stress and strain. Otherwise you may need to combine later on, or risk losing them yet again.
@JOSETTEBIANCA

Thanks! Hmm, well I don’t want to it to be too small. I still want to have a good size foundation but just smaller locs in that area overall. This is kind of trial and error because I’ve never done it before. So we’ll see what happens.

Caffeine is good for extending the life of each hair strand to reduce shedding, including post partum shedding. Using tea, or coffee if you prefer, on your hair, would benefit you a lot.

@Eliabzl315 it isn't clickbait because she *IS* combing out her locs, just not all of them. Which she explained in the first few seconds of the video. The point of a video title is to get people to click.

@@jungwonscactus9425 Im not complaining im just stating a fact that it was clickbait. I would’ve been curious to know why she would decide to comb all of her locs out but she’s not. And also im planning on combing mine out so I was excited to be able to relate to her but it was a clickbait.
