IMHO this game is squaring up to possibly be the next "pubg" I don't think it will reach the insane heights of pubg although it could, but i see easily 1M+ concurrent if it opens up on steam.

@@Onepeg It doesn't need to be debunked; it needs to be proven. Tarkov has been using vendors, so they used Unity and not UE. BSG has been making a fool of you for years and continues to do so. Cant even get their net code sorted, cheaters running rampant and refusing to tackle the issue.

Wouldn't it be even more unlikely for scanned models? The scanner doesn't care at all about topo and best practices. It has no idea conceptually what it's even looking at. For mechanical, human-made objects like this with moving parts doesn't the industry *always* retopo these by hand after scanning because the scanned topo is always such a mess? Or has scanning tech improved so much it's usable now?

agreed, scanning software is amazing but its gives a staggering amount of polygons when its meshed together, these models even if they were scanned had to manually be re-topologized for them to work properly inside of a game engine.

@@smockytubers1188 it is absolutely less likely. even scanned objects have to be hand adjusted and optimized before use in engine. the tech has come a long way in accuracy, but you could have the same object scanned by the same scanner 2x and both models vertices will still be ever so slightly different from each other. it would not line up 1:1 .

The issue is that the models aren't actually exactly 1:1 and the topology is different. For example the RPK dustcover in Arena breakout has a different bottom geometry compared to EFTs straight down geometry. People just aren't paying attention to the minute details.

I think they just Traced BSG model. When you extract models from other games you dont have acess on high poly mesh. What we're seeing is the low poly only. That means if ABI use Tarkov model they would have to use the same texture maps. Copy and past the entire PBR Map and have the same exact UV map. Another thing is the topology is completely different and you can't achive good results on complex meshes using Decimate, unless you separate the mesh but in some cases where the Edges line are already on you can't do that otherwise will broke the entire model and scrath the uv map later on.

He wouldn't tho. Because he would be taking a company more than Ten times their size. They would get demolished. Tencents legal team would be bigger and better paid than bsgs entire studio.

Also if you want to take the approach of "BSG is worth less so it's okay that they steal", Crye Precision is one of probably multiple manufacturers being utilized by BSG that have a lower annual revenue. So why is BSG likely stealing their IP? Since Crye Precision makes less money, that's not okay by even your standards, right? Even from a legal fee perspective, the cost only gets so high. More money doesn't automatically equal a win as one can only drag out a case for so long. BSG has more than enough funding to fight in court for years and the payout from a win would be undoubtedly worth it for them. While both are completely capable of a multi year legal battle, Tencent has far less to gain here than BSG does as they could just move on to the next thing. Also if the evidence is as solid as Nikita portrays, Tencent would be almost guaranteed to settle out of court leading to a nice influx of cash for BSG with very little effort. The David versus Goliath analogy you portray only really matters in the circumstance that David doesn't have the funds to keep a legal battle going to the end as BSG does. BSG isn't your everyday guy living paycheck to paycheck who's going to be squashed by Tencent in a matter of seconds because he can't afford anything more than Saul Goodman's pro bono work. They can both absolutely afford to fund an entire legal team to the conclusion of a case if they so choose.

Three things wrong with your comment. Every rendering engine renders triangles at the end point, what you see in game is only triangles. As for the high poly sculpt/scan, that is with the original creator, whomever it is... Which isn't ABI, which ofcourse they don't have because they just took the "lowpoly" retopo:d game ready model from the game or the vendor and decimated it. Decimate is quite good with premade UV's if you take care not to be too aggressive with it. Also your point that no one is showing for example FBX meta data is just an invalid point. It is incredibly easy to scrub FBX meta data, all you need to do is export it as a OBJ for example then re-export that as an FBX. Also "So how they would keep the cavity and Convex details if the UV is different?" well I don't know for a fact that the UV's are different, but I don't believe they are since the textures are so perfectly lined up. I am fairly certain from the proof I saw in this video that if you just took the texture from EFT and slapped it onto ABI's model, it would work just perfectly. If you are talking about texture and not the lowpoly convex concave detail then I'd point you towards reading about normal maps.

Hey there! 3D modeler here, there's a few details he got wrong, but the overall points are correct. I haven't seen the RPK specifically but the models I have seen 100% appear to be the same models (or at least started as the same models) with ABI slightly optimizing them.

Polycount means absolutely nothing. It's a complex model. Even the same artist making 10 copies of the same AK back to back wouldn't have the same polycount. You have no idea what you're talking about.

@@TheMrAows If it's a literal copy and paste yes the polycount would be the same. Nobody in their right mind would do this for both the reason it would be obviously theft but more importantly because Tarkov's optimization is dogshit. It takes so little time and effort to make a variety of changes that dramatically impact polycount on a stolen model without really changing how it appears at face level and without making it an original work. He even went over decimation in the video but there are many more. Booleans are also extremely easy to change poly counts on and as they leave a topological mess behind would be among the first things you'd look at if you were trying to improve performance from a hastily made, unpolished base model. Modelers of this caliber really should be using booleans only exceptionally sparingly anyway for this exact reason. I don't know it's stolen. Like he said in the video and the comments that's the wrong word. But like every other modeler has said, it's impossibly similar for both of them not to have a common origin. Can't say ABI stole from Tarkov but I can say ABI's AK handguard and Tarkov's AK handguard came from the same place. How? The texture file being an unedited match. The relative scale of all of the pieces (nobody is modelling an AK for a videogame with a micrometer measuring the real life thing at all parts). The topo flow (again you'd normally optimize and rearrange this anyway but it's *STILL* that similar here to be virtually impossible to have made from scratch). It's mostly just judgment. Trust these people who work with this stuff on a daily basis (that's not me, I just know enough to know that polycount isn't reliable to prove something *isn't* stolen). They are saying the models are copies, derivatives, or cognates. tl;dr You can't say the model wasn't copied because the polycount is different. You probably could say it was copied if the polycount was actually the same though, and that's what the texture file/UVs show.

@@TheMrAows Also, personal take: Nikita gave these assets to Tencent for some reason, or bought them from a store, or stole them from someone else in the first place before they were stolen from him, or some other combination of shady events that leads to him being unable to properly sue Tencent and Tencent knows it. Russians would call it Kompromat. It's possible that Tencent is not at all innocent in all of this but Nikita can't do shit about it legally because of his own liabilities. Models themselves yeah, seems like they rebuilt them using Tarkov assets, however the textures are straight up copy. The unwraps are virtually impossible to get as perfect matches, but i recall you could bake from existing models textures onto your own, which shouldnt be a problem if the overlapping meshes are this close to being the same.

@@letteralex I have seen only 1 picture showing this and that in itself is not proof because anyone can create these pics with whatever they want. point is, it is not possible using the textures of 1 thing copied to another mesh. If i even move a few vertices on my mesh i normally bake the normals etc again. its not possible and even why would they even want to do such a thing, it makes no sense modelling wise.

As someone who despises BSG and plays AB regularly, I agree with you. I don't know for sure if AB is stealing, but I would still want them to make their own stuff rather than steal from others.

The reason that most shooters dont have the correct logos, 100% accurate model and dont use the correct name for firearms is because of licensing. BSG uses said logos, names and models without paying for the license (we cant be sure if its all western ones, and even some russian i guess or just some of them). We know for a fact that Glocks aint licensed. So i mean, if BSG does it to others, others can do it to them no? And you say "just because" like the Unheard shit is the first time they have pulled bullshit like this, but it is the most egregious one 100%. Three Things Unity uses Triangles for process and Decimate doesn't work as a Remesh tool for keep Triangles or quads on complex Meshes. it's impossible. It's impossible use Decimate and keep "Espeficic" Intern Lines unless you separate the model by every line and make that will scratch the UV later. Even Quadremesh a very good paid addon can't do that. The Triangulization on both models are completely different. If anyone want to prove that ABI copied and paste the model in their game we need to see the Vertex Cord panel, FBX meta data and UV's map and none of those "3D artists" or even nikita are showing this. Another thing that everyone is forgetting is the High poly model. ABI don't have acess on the high poly model no matter what. So how they would keep the cavity details if the UV is different?

All I had to do was launch up the game and instantly see how stolen most of the assets were, its sickening.

That requires a licensing to do, we know that HK and Glock aint paid for, and probably most if not all western ones if we are honest with ourselves here. Thats stealing too. The Kukri from the unheard edition is on the unity store, so they could have paid for it and used it. But they remade the model themselves to make it look exactly like it. If they paid for the model which means they are allowed to use it, why remake it? I also heard a story that they stole art/models from a concept artist, but never looked into it. Those are the ones that i know of

Lost me at "bot behavior code structure". It literally cannot have the same code structure. It's impossible. They're two different languages on two different engines. Also we can't trust the decompiled code from ABI because of the nature of decompilation, most useful data is lost during compilation.

Yeah this is one of two only possible conclusions. Either there's some other backstory here that compromises BSG so they're not able to sue them for real, and thus have been resorting to this smoke and mirrors stuff. Or alternatively something about the accusations themselves are fraudulent like BSG is just recoloring their own polys and posting "comparisons" pretending it's ABI's assets. Either way don't believe a fucking word from known liars and scammers until they're willing to stake their money on it.

Tbf the models are pretty much identical, sans the decimate thrown onto it. Making a 3d scan, then retopo'ing the mesh to be a low poly version of the 3d scan, and doing that twice the exact same way? That is statistically so unlikely. However, the question remains, are the models perhaps bought from someone else? Which is very normal thing to do in game dev.

It would literally make no difference if they used the same stock image. You obviously understand 3D modeling even less then one peg does.

If two artist were given a photograph and told to sketch it the content might be the same, but the individual pencil marks and their order would be wildly different if you zoomed in on each sketch. We are essentially zooming in and finding identical pencil marks make in the same order here.

As a blender modeler myself I'll take a stab at these. We don't know, we don't know, very possible but it doesn't matter, very possible but it doesn't matter. Expatiation: There are two places where the models could have come from. Someone made them by hand, or someone 3d scanned them and then did retopology. As onepeg mentions we cant say for certain if it was done at BSG or by a 3rd party asset maker, but regardless, that's how the model came into being. Textures are comprised of a few components, but the important ones here are the material and UVs. They (whoever the original modeler was) may have used stock images or textures, but the UVs (which map the texture regions to the 3d model) cannot be stock. They must be generated with the model. Further, and this was not explained well in the video, UVs persist across model changes. If I imported a model and then fucked up the geometry you could still see that the UVs map the texture to the vertex even after transformation. This applies to decimate as well, and is the most damming evidence to me. We can take that they used the same 3d modeling software + plugins for the sake of argument. It doesn't matter. The models are so similar and share so many incriminating unlikely details that no plugins, software, or hardware commonality can be reasonably suspected as the culprit. With 3d scanning + automatic retopo (its not automatic but lets pretend that it could be) especially, it would be almost impossible to get results this similar if you did the same thing twice one after the other on the same hardware, let alone two different houses with coincidentally the same equipment. And that's only if you want to blame automation. By hand is even less likely. If I had one model pulled up and I was intentionally copying ever detail, I couldn't make a copy that similar. The only explanation is that the file itself was copied and touched up. I appreciate the skepticism out of principal, but in this case the accusation is pretty bullet proof.

Unity asset extractor to extract the bundles for tarkov, forgot what you use for UE but you could use ninja ripper to pull all the loaded meshes in the gpu cache and find them as a long route, but there's definitely easier methods

No, it is not wrong. One model IS derived from the other and there is no doubt about this. The explanations given that were cited to 3d modelers are accurate and highly compelling. If all of these very well put together explanations somehow went over your head, you will not be able to tell by examining both models for yourself. Watch the part on the decimate modifier again and maybe that will re contextualize things for you.

If someone does make a video where they extract the models and show the process and the comparison, or show how to do the comparison yourself, only then do we know for sure. It comes down to do you take the word of your favorite russian scam dev or content creator, or do you really want to know for sure, because everyone has an incentive to lie about this.

The quad version Nikita is showing is probably their source material, I extracted some of the RPK models to compare using AssetStudio and they look exactly like the RPK models in ABI

I don't want to make a conclusion until Nikita speaks out on where he got the AK models and textures. If his dev team made all of it themselves then it's easy to conclude that the assets are stolen, but considering the recent drama about the unhinged edition knife asset flip, I'm questioning the dev team... So as I said, I'll wait for Nikita to show where he got the model/textures

@@yhoo1234 There is no evidence of them being store bought assets as they would be easily available to show. BSG make it clear they do all assets in house with Quixel for environment and MegaScans for their weapons, thats why they are some of the best looking in the industry.
