I've been avoiding this day for as long as I could but the time has come to show you my new camera. No, it doesn't have lots of megapixels. No, it doesn't boast impressive dynamic range and the telephoto option literally isn't worth the paper it's printed on.
At least it looks cool.
It's time to say goodbye to the Sony Alpha camera system. Besides, a good photographer should be able to get good results with any camera, right? Right?
In spite of dangerous stinging jellyfish, a substandard camera and atrocious weather conditions I still manage to bag a couple of shareworthy shots.
I even take you for a quick Photoshop dive to show you how I 'burn' parts of my image to enhance the contrast between shadows and highlights.
Will a flip-flop manufacturer finally get in touch and provide me with some free appropriate footwear? Will the waves destroy my composition before I can record it and what is it that Amanda finds so offensive?
There's really only one way to find out.

What a great video I loved the unicorn camera😂😂😂, just didn’t really suit you but what a laugh. Also wanted to add my 17 year old cat was just mesmerised watching you editing the photograph he walked up to the television and just sat looking .. Anyway thank you for sharing your findings on the beach.

Amanda has a beautiful smile, a fine sense of humor and is infinitely patient. Next subject: I think you should find the tide schedule for the area where you live. If you are going to continue to do beach shots in Nova Scotia you are going to need it. It will save you loads of time. You did do a good job of bringing out the best in the one image you featured. I've done a few of those along the shores of Kentucky Lake but mine were never as good as yours.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who finds such sand patterns interesting. I think of them as semi-abstracts. I do such things handheld, a tripod slows you down with something changing every few moments. I see you figured that out.

Great vid. Just a consideration about the "Multiply" function. It not only darkens but it also adds saturation which can be a problem with some images. So it's usually best to lower the multiply layer's saturation down to about 10% of its value.

😂 That was hilarious. When we saw the title all, we said at home was... Only Gavin ...LOL. Hey, when my kid (Raynah) was born, for the first picture we took I used a point-and-shoot Kodak 2mp. Very funny, Gavin: they say that a good photographer can get good pictures with any camera... but there might be a limit though. BTW, you didn't highlight the carry handle that the camera had! Cool, do you think Sony or Canon will take their queues from that? I completely agree that April is colourless in most of Canada. As a photographer, it might be a good time to practise black and white and seek out form over colour. What do you think?

Funny, my very old Fuji S5000 was 2 Mg Bits and at the time I shot some very impressive photos that even today I rather like. In fact I miss the previous version the Fuji 5000 which I sold to a friend. It had a lower base ISO of, I think 100, could be 200, but still the B and W and Color were excellent. I may still see if I can find the Cards used and do some shooting with it.

My unicorn zoom lens came with a photoshop adjustment layer. It makes everything so much quicker. It also holds back the wave till the shot is taken! Rill patterns have been on my list since Gary Gough, and now you! Love your video but expect Thomas Heaton's is better. Can you send me a link if you know of one he's done. Thanks! My flip flops have lasted 7 years but I’ve gone through superglue like it’s going out of fashion. I can’t get rid of them because they are a part of me now, not that they are glued to my 🦶🏼🦶🏼it’s because they are just so comfortable. Great video as usual, you two are so funny📷👍🏼

Those marks left by the water receding from under the sand as the tide goes out, or anywhere when the water level changes, are called rill marks. I know, right? Looked for the name for quite a while. Nice video as always, I love the humour. I am not buying the book it's outrageously expensive compared to that of a Thomas H to name one. Hi to Amanda (how does she do it?). Stunning, and well worth the effort 👌. There's beauty everywhere isn't there? It's just a matter of being observant and receptive. Your powers of both are what makes your photography great 👍. Talking of receptive, have you ever set out to take close distance Images (like here), then the light's changed and you find yourself switching into full landscape mode as a scene suddenly reveals itself? Actually, my first digital camera was an Olympus C1 which had a 1.3M pixel sensor. It wasn't pink though 😂

I absolutely love seeing what people can do with old/"crappy" cameras. My phone has a 50mp camera which sounds great on paper, but low light is awful haha. I still manage to get some great shots with it, though. It would be nice if phones had an optional light diffuser over the flash. I suppose paper could work.

Hi, I relay like your new camera! Could you put link in the description? ;) If I may, I will share with you PS tip. Instead using this big brush to make a gradient, you can use a gradient tool for it. Put an exposure layer (with the pattern mask) in the group and add mask to that group and draw a gradient on it. I this way you have more flexibility and you can stack as many masks on top as you want just putting group in another group, plus you have opacity control on each mask.

Hey tripper, as per usual, another informative and humorous video. Love watching your vid’s! Sorry to hear you are dropping Sony, however after seeing your new camera, I can see why😂. I’m shooting the new Sony a7rv, and I thoroughly hate having to unscrew one filter, so I can install a different one. Would it be possible to find out the manufactures name of the magnetic filter system you are using? I saw it in your video about filters, but no info about manufacture.

I've seen good sand paterns in Cornwall where the slate grains wash over the sand. Imagine anyone seeing you with my little pony cam, keep away from him darling he's one of those special people.

Did you know if you freeze your sandals it will kill the bacteria, if you place in the freezer, Gavin with the descriptive faces, double wrap in sealed plastic bag.
