Floor is one of the most versatile vocalist you will ever hear. She is a freak of nature. She's a phenom. SHE IS OUR QUEEN.

For me, this recording, obviously made with a fan's phone, proves how much Floor technically masters her voice, everything is under strict control, although it seems impossible in the context. The transitions without breaks from growling to belting and head voice - three difficult and very different vocal techniques - demonstrates a high professional level, a lot of training, a lot of work, not just an unusual native talent. There is a saying among fans that Nightwish saved Floor from burnout, as well as Floor saved the band, giving them her unique talent in a generation.

This why we Floor fans say she can sing anything. Yes that includes growling.

Floor is both the Angel and Demon. But in the end, she is still our Valkyrie Queen.

Yes, Floor can growl too... in fact, when the song needs it, she's able to switch almost seamlessly from angelic operatic vocals to demonic growl, only to continue singing rock in the next word... and pretty much everything in between as well. That, along with her ability to make emotions audible and her truly almost superhuman stage presence makes her, for me, one of the world's best singers. Yes, others are certainly better in their specialty, but Floor is one of the few who can sing pretty much any style ... and at least at a high, or even top, level. Speaking of stage presence ... I myself thought I was prepared for it from all the live recordings .... No, I wasn't! I experienced Floor last year with Nightwish and also in a solo show of her from very close distance. The woman just blows you away .... ... and then off stage she is so ... down to earth, nice and funny ....

You should check out a blond Floor with her previous band Revamp doing Disdain at Graspop 2010. Mind blowing!

BTW - you're also watching the lead guitarist and founder of Epica, Mark Jansen (no relation) to whom you reacted yesterday. If you ever get to Ayreon, Arjen, the mastermind behind it, "discovered" Floor at 16, has the keyboardist in After Forever as his right hand man and arranger/keyboardist for live performances. The music of the Netherlands is simply amazing, and in my mind, Northern Europe is the land of musical geniuses.

Floor can do anything:sing like an angel, growl like a demon. This is Floor's second band ReVamp. She started it after her first After Forever disbanded. She disbanded ReVamp after getting a permanent position in Nightwish.

Before Tatiana Shmayluk from Jinjer There was FLOOR setting the standard and still unsurpassed , btw this was after she joined NW , she spent a cpl yrs with both bands before finally calling quits for ReVamp.

Beste Zangers (best singers) is a Dutch show that really kick started Floors solo career. A group of singers are invited to a small intimate venue with a house band where they sing each other’s songs or songs that have a special meaning to them. Floor at the time was relatively unknown in the Netherlands at the time and was introduced as a heavy metal singer. She then blew them away by singing opera, pop and musical theatre. She also sang in German and Spanish. Start with Lady Gaga’s “Shallow” and after that the iconic performance of Phantom of the Opera.

What you did there right after the video was what we call a "fry scream". You really close up your vocal chords and then press the air through. Incidentally that's one of the safer ways to do it, if you don't use too much air. You hold your microphone very close for full effect. Then there is another, almost opposite way of doing growls, the "false cord scream". There you don't use the vocal cords at all, just open them wide and breathe out forcefully. There is a second set of flappy bits that start to vibrate and make some sound when it's done correctly. Try saying Huuuu out lout and then add airflow without using your voice until it starts to produce some rough sound. If at any point you feel the urge to cough, stop immediately!

And Floor wrote the songs for ReVamp so she could stretch her vocals to wherever. This is why so many fans say that no-one is in the same league as Floor. There are some other females who growl and sing clean but still don't have her versatility. She does explain on a video how to use your false vocal folds to create the growls.

This is why Tuomas has said the next Nightwish album will be heavier 😆. It’s because Floor is a real metalhead 🤘🏼, oh and she knows how to do that without damaging her vocal chords!
