I'm with you on the open world games, I don't mind if it's big, but if there's hardly any interaction or life, then it's kinda pointless to make it so big.

Baghdad is such an interesting and beautiful city to explore and learn the history. I think out of all the settings in AC games, this is probably my favorite if not second favorite to France in Unity or Egypt in Origins
Great video! I missed the bow too but was fine after a few hours. I have already gotten the platinum for this game and I LOVED it. Yes, Origins for the story is still my favorite because of Bayek. Origins had a more emotional and personal story to me which is always what I am looking for. Mirage though gave me everything I was missing in Valhalla. I may not have a love for social stealth and it could be that the Blade in the Crowd trophy was just so frustrating that it has colored my feelings, but overall Mirage is easily one of my favorite games I have played this year. Bonus points for its fantastic platinum. I feel spoiled right now. I played GoW Ragnarok, Yakuza 0, and Mirage this year so it’s been a good year in gaming for me.
I absolutely loved Origins,I put in over 200+ hours into it. I did literally everything across the main game and DLC's,it was an amazing time. It was the first AC game I played after taking a brief hiatus from the series after AC3. I tried Black Flag but I was starting to feel burned out on Assassin's Creed even though I really liked the series,so I didn't really enjoy it that much at the time.

They might have done it already if not for the amazing Ghost of Tsushima forcing comparisons. It is hard to beat. Personally, I'd like to see them do the next game set in Japan.
As much as i appreciate your opinion on a bunch of games, such as the Atelier series, Tales of, Rune Factory etc etc, i used to love AC but i can't dig these glorified fetch quests campaigns anymore. Just beat Sophie 1 (played Lydie and Suelle, Lulua, Ryza ) and ngl, i'm always looking foward to more Atelier content frm you.

I have said this to many of my friends and they think I am crazy! Lol But I don't care,it will always be the best to me because they just got so much right with it and also it was just a epic and Incredibly fun game. I actually played through AC2 multiple times
I'm personally more into assassin screed action rpg so Valhalla and Odyssey. Even tho those games should be as this one on the stealth side. Glad you enjoy it that much!
You are completely right. I'm feeling too echoing vibes to Origins in Mirage, the former which is, by far, my favourite of the "new trilogy" of Assassin's Creed. I loved Origins, the setting was out worldly, just amazing: I still remember arriving in Memphis with that sick Blue/dark green tint that permeates the city, while arriving by boat from the canals watching all those crocodiles. Just incredible!!! I finished Odyssey but it was extremely shallow, and the city looked all the same except Sparta and the center of Athens. And I, too, could barely touch Valhalla; I really wanted to like it but the map I find it way too big and boring, and it has way too many fucking markers!!! Just overwhelming and borderline stressing! It causes fatigue and I want to enjoy myself when playing videogames... Mirage, meanwhile, reminds me of Origins for the inspired setting and the strong sense of personality and uniqueness the game has , but I still prefer Origins by far (even if I'm still at the start of the game in Mirage)
100% agreed about playing in smaller more dense worlds. I havent played an assassins' creed game since black flag. But this and even the upcoming AC Nexus even look good.

I'm thinking about getting this game. I enjoyed Valhalla, but is nice to get back to its roots and a smaller world. I get lost in Valhalla even in the hub area.
I love your reviews! And I agree with everything you said about this game. I got platinum on it and it took me 55 hrs. I took my time with it and not even as much as I could have with reading every note or letter you find etc. This game is amazing to me 🤷🏽♂️
Great review! I'm also LOVING this game and partly because I was a big fan of Valhalla characters/story. Also, I love the history and aesthetic because of my Persian background.
Valhalla to me was the best assassin’s creed game I’ve played in a while, as a huge fan of that time period I had blast going through everything in it, I’m excited to try mirage soon
First AC for me and I like it. It helps that the game is not too complex. I started out preferring simple combat. Now I appreciate the tools. Perhaps I will end up preferring stealth. Only let down is the loading time on PS4.

One thing I wished they returned to was make the default move speed walk again like in 1. Don't want to half push the stick trying to balance it. :p Got my platinum trophey last night. Great ending

Whilst the historical stuff you're saying about Baghdad is cool, it's not worthy of teaching in school. I don't need to learn what the largest city was in existence in each year for the last 10 years, let alone the last 1000. I think core history lessons should focus on major milestones that shaped today's morals and ethics. By all means a wider ciriculum for those interested could go deeper into looking at these things.
Good point, school only teaches a narrow view of history and it should be encouraged to lookup what interests you the most. In fact I feel sorry for kids these days as they seem to be taught deliberate falsehoods now.
I dont know, the only thing i see is a lot of stuff (both assets and gameplay) recycled from Odyssey and Origins ..... maybe one day, discounted @75% or more. Right now both Balduru's Gate 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 are way better deals and games.

Valhalla was not an ac game, its was a viking rpg game and a tedious one at that, origins was great but they didn’t stick with that quality in the other rpgs, im getting mirage but gonna wait till its 30 euros or less
When you mentioned that entire pickpocketing section all my memories of AC Brotherhood came flooding in. That was my first AC game back when it first came out and i had so much fun. I was going to skip this as ive skipped everything after Rogue because it either sucked or it wasnt AC anymore but based on your review i think this game is something i will enjoy for sure. Interesting. I love AC. The old ones but also the new ones that works more like rpgs. BUT. I didn’t like this one. I think the story is dry. I think the setting is very boring as well. The characters are very forgettable. I could not stand the voice acting. The gameplay is back to the roots and thats sick. But it is very outdated. AC needs some fresh animations at least. I am glad that everyone else loves it. But this one didn’t grab me at all.
I was thinking I'm so done with Ubisoft after Valhalla. But based on this it seems like they have fixed the main problems of huge meaningless map and too long repetitive main story. Though even if you did sugarcoat it quite well I didn't hear the game having anything new. But still ~15 hours assassin story might be worth experiencing after I get it really cheap. Considering the game of the year I can only think of Tears of The Kingdom atm. Ryza 3 just wasn't what we hoped for after the perfect Ryza 2.
I agree with you on open world games. I really really didn't like Breath of the wild and Tears of the kingdom because how big and emty and pointless they were and so boring to play them. I wish nintendo will do the same with zelda games like with ubisoft with the assasin creed mirage, just make the game smaller fun and interesting.
Odessy I have a personal hatred against because grease did something bad to my home country but Odessy isn’t a assassins creed game, it was a cash grab to label it as one including Valhalla, I have nothing against Vikings I’m just hate that it’s not a assassins creed game. ACM Is a perfect ac game going back to what it was supposed to be. Nothing else I have problems with this game.
It isn't a great game though it's awful ubisoft can't make a next gen assasins creed game. It's just a last generation game dressed up in next gen graphics. Once you played one assasins creed game you played them all. This new one doesn't offer anything new i've played them all apart from the new ones they are rubbish!
