I agree with you. You can’t steal stuff. Ask the store because if you are down and out, our store gives you what you need. You don’t ever need to steal it.
Something people steal because they want those things, but don’t want to spend their money for them. I agree there is never a reason to steal. Shame shame .
I’m floored that someone would suggest that there could be a circumstance that would justify theft! There are food banks and clothing banks. If you need items for resale, try trash picking or buy nothing sites. There’s always a way. Please don’t ever stop getting mad when you see it happen. Complacency is a big part of the problem.
Yeah,I have heard the “I’m just feeding my family” justification…since may 2020 it’s been insane in NYC. ROVING BANDS OF RETAIL THIEVES. NO BAIL REQUIRED.
I'm sure there are people who steal a bunch of stuff and then go around and sell it to buy drugs or whatever! Stealing is stealing, period! That's why honest people end up paying more for things! 😠
I totally agree our goodwill does the same thing! It’s very aggravating and frustrating to say the least. Why do they not understand that??? Have a manager price it for goodness sake. They are not Saks, Tiffany’s Nordstrom etc. they really need to get their heads out of their buts …. Their pricing has become ridiculous and they allow people to steal left and right, pay their people terrible wages and claim to be doing good for the community while their executives are paid top dollar………. That’s my rant! 🤔🙄
Your rant is totally agreed. I've seen many people applying for Goodwill and everyone of them are turned down. I know this, because I drive the older ones around. Have them straighten the racks. Pick up fallen clothes. Clear dressing room full of clothes. Put carts in order or clean them out. Anything simple. I stopped taking them. Walmart and McDonald's hired them. These individuals are people too, even though they have challenges in their lives❤❤❤❤
The silver shell is a condiment server for relishes/jams/'jellies/pearl onions, mayonnaise, etc. You see the spoon notch in the side of the top and it is missing its glass dish insert. Find a glass dish that fits and a little serving spoon and it'll be complete.
That new rule of not pricing items that don't already have a price on them really upset me when it started. I was in Florida with my daughter and she picked out a dress for a special occasion but it didn't have a tag so we couldn't buy it. I had to leave out of state the next day and couldn't go back when it was supposed to be priced and put back out. She was very upset because she's very small for a 17 year old and good adult looking dresses in her size are hard to find. She didn't have a ride back to the goodwill to pick up the dress once I left either.
The shell is for condiments. There is an insert that is glass, shaped to go inside the bottom of the shell, and has a small long handled spoon to go with it. Most usually are missing both the glass piece and spoon due to breakage or simply those pieces being lost
I agree with you Danny. I also don't like the red tag nonsense. They get it free and over price it. Its a thrift store, not a resale store like Ross ect., or boutique. I feel they lose sales that way.
That's been all my Goodwills policy as long as I've been shopping there. I used to think you were so lucky that your stores would price items on the spot for you. I definitely understand your frustration.
The crosses are beautiful! Great find with the candle holder. The over the door holder is so pretty. Wow you found great items, but more importantly, you are safe and that makes me happy!
The goodwill that I’ve been going to (Victor NYS)about once a week for a couple years, has always had the policy, no price tag , no sale. Open baggie, no sale.
The shell you picked up is a butter dish and it has a glass insert and a small silver butter knife in england butter was bought loose and it was put in a small dish because of the cost
We don’t have Goodwill but at the Value Village in my town if something does not have a tag and you ask for a price they will take it into the back room for a price. I usually won’t end up buying it because the price ends up being about 3x what you think it will be. And yes, I have watched people slough off their ripped up shoes and leave them in the shoe dept and walk out in almost brand new shoes. Just keep being you Danni. You are one of a kind ❤
Oh my Danni!! The "Pitcher" is a Pink Zebra warmer!! It sets outside of the warmer cylinder, and that way you can easily change out your wax melt warmer decor without buying a completely different warmer! How cool!
I found a mauve Glassybaby “Mom” in the summer 4 years ago about a minute (actually a few weeks) after I first heard about them. Haven’t seen another one since. 🥰🇨🇦
Wow, that's a lot of drama but I get your point. I once tried to buy 3 dishes, same style but a different color at Salvation Army. Two of them had price stickers and one did not. They wouldn't sell me the unpriced dish even though it was exactly the same as the other two. Since it was a set, I didn't buy any of them. Now I know their policy, I don't even bother to put unpriced items in my cart.
Dani! I hope you read this. When it comes to donated flower vases please mention to folks to consider donating to a local hospital unit. I’ve worked my entire nursing career in labor and delivery. Visitors always bring flowers for new moms and babies, but no vase. They often ask us, the staff, for a vase. Of course we don’t carry a supply of vases at the hospital so…often beautiful flowers get shoved into and ugly short plastic water pitcher. I used to go to goodwill to pick them up and keep them on the unit but goodwill started getting too crazy with prices. So if I find them cheap at yard sales I’ll get them. Anyway, maybe give this PSA suggestion to your viewers. Hospitals, especially labor and delivery, post Partum units, can certainly use vases. Thanks! Love your channel.
So sorry for what happened 😔 I know your a single mom.and I know you work hard for your family.i will pray for you Just smile you will get something better 😊
Where I live the GoodWills' often price used (and often damaged) items over new price. Plus they have, IMHO, mostly junk I'd send to the dump or sell as scrap. Even on shirts, I can often buy them new for the same or lower price than they want. I also find that quite often the clothing is damaged and they still are putting premium pricing on it. I also note that their surplus store here is not getting the items for sale that they used to get. It appears they sell items of value online now. and not in the stores anymore. So I have removed them from my list to buy or donate to because of their pricing. Here the addicts steal just about anything with no consequences, and they all seem to steal shopping carts. That has an effect on your grocery prices, U-Line is selling grocery carts for $600.00 each, and someone has to pay for the stolen carts. The customers do.
OH MY GOSH, JACQUELINE BOUVIER KENNEDY IN HER INAUGURATION GOWN.....I BET THAT GOES FOR BUCKS. HOW SAD YOU DID NOT RECOGNIZE HER. BUT I AM 75 SO MAYBE YOU DO NOT REMEMBER!
The Clam shell originally had a Clam shell glass dish, inside. It was a butter dish that was popular in the early 80's.I was given one as part of a wedding gift.
I'm not sure how long it's been since you have been to a goodwill but they they have been announced this for over a month on the loud speakers at every goodwill and other resellers have been already ranting. A worker that worked for Goodwill for years said there policy use to be this way a long time ago and that corporate decided to go back to it because the crew that does the pricing now has to look more things up to decided the resale price and also if the item need to go online and sent out. As they work 9-5 and have a quota of racks they have to get out it was taking from their time as well and need to do those prices the next day. They also are cutting back in employees checkers so not to hold up the lines..so several reasons why the change. Others utube resellers gave already been casting their complaints to corporate. But tines are changing and cut backs and inflation and min wages are effecting all everywhere😢
I had heard rumours but this was my first experience with it, and I think the worst thing was showing them the price on the rabbit in the video and them still saying nope can't sell it. I guess if their numbers slow down they will either respond with relooking at the policy or rising prices which will put them out of business eventually!
I have grown to love you girl. You are 100% correct. There is never a good excuse for stealing but this is a sign of the times. Sad & sorry people have been brainwashed. Keep going & always stand your ground.
Your great AND YOUR RIGHT..HAve manager price it..shouldn't the item be in computer and price there? Still you found great stuff..sorry Bunny had to stay there 💕 thxs for sharing 💕
I would be super curious to know how many of these items end up selling on dollar day because they lost the ideal customer willing to pay up for the item.
Same happened to me at Goodwill -- found a skirt that fit and went well with a jacket. As I was checking out, the clerk said ",No price tag. Can't sell it to you." That was the first time and it was 2 weeks ago! Grr
Don’t give up on Good Will as a whole. Each store seems to have their own rules as far as no tags. Whether I’m buying an item or not, I will give them the item, so that it can be priced.
You keep buying for yourself. Even though you say you know what people that buy from you want. I don't think so. You started buying more and more for your projects. I'm trying to help you before you realize you are back doing it again. Be strong. I like you and admire your hard work, but it's time to see what you are doing.
I will always buy things for myself as well as for resale. I think most RU-vidrs who do what I do don't show the whole shopping trip and edit out their personal purchases, I' m letting you into all of it! My resale business is thriving so I'm pretty sure I am doing ok in the picking out stuff ;-)
what is the reason for charging $2 to view your purchases at end of show?l’m 80, retired love watching your decisions. What is the number of years before an item becomes”vintage”? I believe Our Heavenly Father was looking down on The NICHE Lady on the day of the terrible accident…. that is my”thought of the day.”✝️ Love your show ! PRoane 3:51
I work at goodwill in Minnesota and here if item’s don’t have price tags we price them at checkout so it’s not every goodwill that has the policy no tag no sale. Can I say I love watching your videos
Here in Southern WV, they will not sell anything without a price. There are no color tag sales and seniors only get 20% off on Tuesdays. I had hoped our stores would become more enlightened. The shelves are closeout items and holiday stuff. I feel lucky when I see a purse or piece of art. There's no home goods. I'm sorry you were disappointed, Danni.
I found an item at GW that had no price. I took it up front and they took it and said..."We can't sell it to you". This other girl brought it right into the back. Well... Almost a week later I was at the GW Bins and I found it there!! The exact item. It had a tiny spot on it that I remembered. They took it from me and tossed it into thier "outlet" pile. What are the odds of that?!
My family and I are going through some things that we are going to be homeless very soon but stealing is not good we go to the churches and the salvation army for help and we dumpster dive which is legal here we sell things we have in storage just to get by but we never take what isn't ours 😊
Grateful that you are ok. It is very frustrating when they don't ring up an unmarked item. I still have one of those dolls bought at a craft fair in the 80s. It got a lot of attention when someone walked in the house. 😊
At our goodwills in Indiana they write numbers on the objects with permanent marker. For instance 1 for $1.99, 2 for $2.99 etc. then if the tag falls off they can put a new tag on it and sell it to you.
Hey Dani 👋 No one that shops GW is happy about the no tags rule. The signs have been hanging up since about the time you went FL. The metal letters remind me of the pattern of the metal that covered the old metal heaters at my grandparents apartment. Really cool. I hope they get more letters like that. I liked the blue dish, if you can get it I saw them going for $25. I think that they were a Canadian Pottery that went out of business. The web address goes to no where.
The pottery mug, was like one of the first travel coffee mug, because the wide base prevents spilling when stopping and turning, while sitting on the dash. They were quite popular. I think it was the 60's .they had like rubber on the bottom.
Just wanted to let you know I’m up at 5:00 am watching your lovely video. I always look forward to seeing your videos. I’m Sadi missed your live video the other day. One day I’ll get lucky enough to get in on a live video. I so look forward to seeing your wonderful videos. Specialy when you share your knowledge about jewelry. Thank You so much. I don’t blame you for being upset for being upset at goodwill. It’s not like they paid for the stuff. I’m with you I don’t care for shoplifters. I’m with you call there bosses.
28:05 the divided dishes are good for people with disabilities or after a stroke that must eat puréed or pate foods. I just had a Goodwill manager price an item for me that was not priced. I guess she knows how important it is to keep returning customers returning. 😊❤
There was a second turtle mug on the shelf and the Knappie Italian dish has a big chip. I almost cried when I saw it as it is so very beautiful I really don’t understand what is happening with people. They are so mean. Ever since covid I think. I am so sorry that happened at goodwill but on a great note I am so glad your safe
