It's happening, I cant believe it, at last I'm moving to Spain to live for good. Me, my two dogs and car.
Northern Ireland to Spain: My new life in the sun about to begin! ☀️ (NI to ES Journey)
After living there last year and being forced to come home due to my dad being unwell I am about to take the big step of moving to Spain and making it my home.
Dreaming of tapas and sunshine? So was I! In this series, I'm taking you along on my adventure as I swap the emerald isles of Northern Ireland for the warm shores of Spain.
We'll be diving into every step of the process, from the very beginning:

Welcome back to Spain. Torre Pacheco Golf to us has always been known as the ghost town the reason behind cheaper property prices . Only lots of activity is July and August although I do have a friend that lives there and she likes it . Las Ramblas Golf, Villa Martin area where I am located cheapest property for sale around €150,000 and so difficult to find rentals. Next door on Campoamor Golf maybe cheaper. Just spent some time in Valencia, in my humble opinion it is the perfect city to live in, beach and country all within spitting distance some great little barrioes to live in and the transport system is fantastic. I would live there in a heart beat.

We love Valencia, what a city! But we have chosen Alicante, the reason is that it's beach focused, the whole city seems to head there on a weekend whilst Valencia's are quiet. We've always lived in West Yorks a long way from any beach so we want a busy beach lifestyle and Postiguet is certainly that.

I highly recommend you go look st Catral! Its 20 minutes inland from Torrevieja or Guardamar, property is much cheaper, there are also plenty of UK expats and some Irish with some lovely friendly English bars and restaurants. The town has a loevly semi rural laid back feel wirh lots of open countryside for walking the dogs.

Great to see you back. Congrats on Spain and on your MOT. Was down in Andalucia over last winter. Planning Torrevieja area for next year partly based on your videos. Nice to see you plan to drive down. I might drive next time. I know Glenshane pass. Coincidentally I had a Mondeo stop on me once there. Had to get whole speedo second-hand from a place in NI instead of €1000 new down south. Flew threw Glenshane once in my glider on way from Magilligan to Lough Neagh and back via Coleraine! Beautiful North coast, but can a bit nippy compared to Spain alright :D

Yeah, it's done now, so I'm good in Spain with that and insurance for six months, and I'll get it registered in Spain during that time!

I liked my last apartment other than the fact that it was poorly sound proofed and could smell cooking! I fear its something ill end up having to live with it again! 🫤

Great to hear you have made solid plans look forward to joining you on your adventures. As for hobbies you could do worse than buy a cheap metal detector for the beaches could pay for a few drinks every day!

Don’t make the mistake of renting or buying where nothing happens and no Spanish people live. There is a lot to be said for being able to walk into the hustle and bustle of Torrevieja. There is always something going on

I already have my NIE and I am lucky enough to have an Irish EU passport!

Good luck with the move Steve. I think you have to renew the NIE after a certain period of time, maybe 3 months, not I'm not sure. Also make sure that you apply for a Spanish driving licence. I think you can use your licence from Northern Ireland for a couple of years but eventually you'll have to exchange it for a Spanish one, which can take a few months.

I always have problems with getting the dogs booked in on both! I can't remember the exact reasons, but I gave up trying at some point. If I remember, it was also very expensive, plus I like making videos going through France. I'm going through Central France this time for the first time and going to take my time as usual, I think! 😊
