I actually watched someone play this game before this video. One person analysed it like this : The missing girl ran away from home due to domestic abuse. The MC heard the news and was discussing it with her friend. She sympathised with the missing girl because she doesn't want to go home as well, due to parental neglect (as she stated in a cutscene). Next, the MC goes to the train station and meets the missing girl in the ladies' room. She talks to her and tells her sympathises with her situation. However, as much as she did not want to go home, she believed she had to. And the missing girl did not like that. This person also stated that he/she believed that the monster in the game is a depiction of the MC's suicidal thoughts. Which is why you have to run away and escape from it. Get caught and you die (by committing suicide). The girl in the opposite building may very well be the missing girl. She's not there waving because she ran away from home. Finally, when she gets attacked one final time by the monster, it shows how it influenced her to hurt herself (as you can see in the cutscene afterwards). The mother then tends to her wound and the two reconcile. I found this theory really interesting tbh.
