@@fauxbro1983 Personally I liked him in Justified. He basically made that character come to life who was supposed to be in a few episodes then get bumped off.
@@FlyingBitchSlap I highly recommend watching the serie ''Vice Principals" if you like Walton and Dany Mcbride! So funny! You can watch the trailer here on youtube ''Vice Principals (HBO) Trailer HD'' cheer!
@TCELL24 how is it woke? Did you even watch it? It's more anti-woke. The non-binary character is a coward and a liar. Walton is basically the Man in Black from westworld. Absolute anti hero.
@@TCELL24 it's also evident that you haven't watched the show or did so with a massive bias, would love to hear though what you found "woke" about the show? With something like Star Trek Discovery you'd get no argument from me but this is nothing like that. If anything it took me by surprise that there wasn't a single character that is LBQT in the entire season.
@@TCELL24 if you hate this TV show because it's "WOKE" and love the game series, you're an idiot. First of all, Tim, the creator of the classic Fallout, is gay. Secondly, LGBTQ people have been portrayed in games from the original to today as a matter of course. It's understandable that you hate the show because it's Woke. That's your business, but if you hate the TV show because of that and you love the game series, you're the kind of person who only looked the games from the wiki. Actually, I don't think you've even looked at the wiki. Of course I don't like the woke winds of PC and forced creativity, which is why I like the series for its real diversity. Sure, I don't think a modern game could implement a playthrough where you join a faction of Caesar's legion to see the ending, but they did it.
Walton is one of those guys who you see and you recognize but is rarely a main character. I am so glad he gets to be front and center showing off what he can do.
@@kubeanie18 Already seen every episode. I absolutely love the way that show was written. You know what i’m talking about, just trying not to spoil anything.
@@kubeanie18hateful 8 he did a epic job to! Goggins made himself a name like stalone or Arnold... he will sell tickets to read a shoping list.... not many actors like that anymore...
"There needed to be someone at the table who was judging these stories without the responsibility of holding up the mantle for the players themselves." As much as I want to expose everyone to this wonderful game series, I really respect this reason for not playing.
That was such a smart choice. Because sometimes gamers will *think* they want certain story beats and easter eggs, but it doesn't land as well on the big screen as it does in the game. Making sure it all flowed well was key to why this series is as good as it is.
@@17thknightI also respect the decision not to include "everything" in the games. "do a few things well instead of doing everything terribly" I think the halo show could.learn from that. In fact, the Halo series could learn a lot from Fallout.
To be fair to the rest of the cast Goggins has been at this for a really long time now and has a bunch of stellar roles under his belt. He's got a lot more experience. I thought his co-leads did a great job.
@ZiddersRooFurry They did. But let's be honest here, he's not carrying the show, he doesn't have to, but he is elevating it by a large amount. He's killing it. He's easily the most interesting character. A lot of it has to do with the background of the character, but most of it has to do with work that Walton is putting in. Easily some of the best of his career, and his best is better than most.
Interesting take from two actors. Ella played the games beforehand so she could respect the source material, which made the show a hit among the fans. Walter opted to not play the games so as to ensure the character makes sense even without being versed in the world, which made the show a hit among casual viewers.
I agree. 'Morality as a privilige' summs up not only the fallout universe but also the depths of human morality, as we know it, when you take away laws, order and progress. A famous politician in my country once said:"Civility is just a very thin blanket that very easily crumbles." So yeah, they got the point straight, imo.
If only morality and privilege went hand in hand our world would be a significantly better place. Instead those with privilege seem to have the least morals.
@@RHShavi yea bro. we need more movies like that. the only one of recent years that i can think of is probably Parasite. rich people can afford to be good, and poor people can't. the cycle is vicious.
The show is so good that my wife can't stop watching, my parents aged over 70 are also hooked of course by the 50's and western themes along with the music. It's very well done, looking forward to many more seasons.
I don't know why though. They used to collaborate in the past . They have similar taste and interests. I'm sure they read each other scripts loglines or discuss ideas .
Everything that Goggins acts in, I will watch, he never misses with every project he joins. Even when he isn't center-stage, he steals the show with the characters he brings to the screen. My personal favorite is still Baby Billy.
I'm not a native English speaker so I rarely watch Western movies. But I love Fallout games and I would love to watch more from Goggins. Any recommendations for a beginner to watch his stuff?
Most actor who are know for more adult/teen aimed movies, will do a one or two G/PG rated movie o their kid can see something they did. It's why Adam Sandler ha like 10 years of kid humour movies, because he wanted his kid to see them. I don't really count stuff like Ryan Reynolds playing Pikachu. Because as the largest media franchie (by monetary value), Detective Pikachu was only going to be a win for hi career. But we also have Jodie Foster, Michael Sheen, Julianne Moore, Jamie Foxx, Kate Winslet, Gary Oldman, CAte Blanchet, Jennifer Garner (and many more) who took roles for their children.
I like the fact that Walton Goggins didn't play the the game, It gives him a chance to approached his performance at a different angle and not the influenced by it but still be grounded to it.
I'm fine with actors not having experience with an IP, but when the writers and Directors don't it's an issue. I feel like most video game adaptations fail for that reason. Directors try to re-imagine the IP in their own vision due to ego, and they mostly all fail.
@@ZeroShaneBob Agreed. And I think Walton said something along those lines about how he could just trust the writers, directors, and crew to point him in the right direction because of how passionate they were about this. Which like you said, without that many film/tv adaptations fail. Game adaptations especially
This is the first time I have heard someone in a videogame adaptation saying they didn't play the games intentionally, and it actually made sense why they didn't. He offered the perspective of someone who was new to the story, so it would make sense even for people that don't know the games, but unlike the writers and producers of shows like The Witcher and Halo, it's not because he felt he was above the source material, he just wanted to offer a point of view that would help the final product be better, and it seems to have worked, because the show greatly respects what Fallout is, but is able to stand on it's own.
You're repeating lies about Witcher and Halo. The producers don't feel they are "above" the source material. Stuff needs to be adapted to new mediums. I think having Master Chief take off his helmet (let alone have it off a LOT) was a hugely boneheaded mistake by the Halo folks. But I don't whine about it and pretend I can read minds of people I disagree with-because I'm not a child.
@@hawkname1234 No they do feel above it and wanted to change it to what they wanted and going on record saying they are above it and wanted to make the masterpieces of others their own. That is why Henry left the Witcher, he wanted loyalty to the books and they wanted him to just shut up.
To the writers of the original plot “wow, you’ve written a masterpiece on the level of Tolkien.” To the adaptation decision makers on this eat 💩 and find another career. Show should have stuck to China dropping the bomb, and not made so many goofy anecdotes. It’s gotta be intentional that they don’t want to make this stick to the original plot at this point.
-You want to have sex? -You mean use my cock? -Yeah. [weak chuckle] -I don’t know. Uh, that weird thing could happen. -What weird thing? -Well, it’s just, for some guys… not me… uh, but for some guys, you know, when they make it move, it gets all big and hard like a big pimple and then it pops. And they say it can happen to anybody, but it’s still, it’s… it’s gross. -You know, that’s… uh, that’s actually completely normal. It happens all the time. Every time, ideally. -I’m a knight. Um, a knight of the Brotherhood. We’re-we’re not supposed to. -Okey dokey. Fallout (2024)
This show made me start playing Fallout. New to the game obviously, but I personally feel like they’re doing a great job capturing the feel of the world.
But anyways, yeah I feel like the writers and directors of this show did a great job at capturing not only a post apocalyptic feeling world but that neo futuristic type shit that Fallout has going on.
To me he's up there with the greats like William Dafoe, Christoph Waltz, Daniel Day Lewis etc. as actors that are so talented that I'll see basically anything they are in.
It's one of those things where I appreciate the fact that he was honest that he hadn't played the game. Not everyone knows everything, and it's a very human thing to rely on the expertise of others to work towards a greater goal.
I think it makes the character even better. No knowledge of any ghoul stereotypes. No previous self aligned conceptions. He's a damn good actor and he really shines in this role.
yeah, I was hoping to see a deathclaw but we only got to see a skull of one. Also want to see super mutants they are iconic in fallout so idk why they didnt add them in the show.
@reaperofsouls7x130 the biggest problem with new games is them overusing Deathclaws. It made them feel far less threatening. I want the show to build up to it.
Honestly, nothing needs to change. They just have to keep the same mentality for Season 2, which they'll undoubtedly get. Happy crew, happy actors, that's all this show needs to thrive.
Idk, personally I couldn't get into it. Feels too clean and fake to convince me it's a post apocalyptic world. The core story is compelling, but the execution of it makes it so boring to me. In the few episodes I watched it feels like the story isn't really going anywhere. I'd rather they had just made a movie out of it with a bigger budget.
@@RealEllenDeGeneres well, to be fair the Fallout games were never about a realistic, gritty post apocalypse, but a cynical/satirical, over-the-top take on the post-war "American dream" culture (which by the way I wish they explored more), but all things considered I felt like the spirit of the world and the series is still present there. And as far as video game adaptations go, tv shows are doing a better job historically 😂
@@RealEllenDeGeneresmaybe play the game then it’s the SAME feeling of the game universe honestly can’t believe how close they made it feel like a wasteland

So refreshing to see an actor in a video game adaptation admit honestly they aren't a gamer instead of getting a briefing on talking points and what to say if anyone challenges whether or not they're a fan of the media they're acting for. I don't care if he doesn't play games, I appreciate honesty.
I think thanks to him, they might have rewritten af few things, so it made sense to Mew commers, cause I think that the show, might have been the first Fallout experience for many people
He may not be a gamer, but Walton Goggins is acting as one of my newest favorite character in this show already for the Ghoul. And I understand in a way that focusing too much on the games could give extra pressure and distract from the performance.
@@makasete30 Truly, he knows how to play characters well and is even for the Ghoul he went with influences from films from John Wayne and Clint Eastwood for his role instead of trying to go solely off stuff from the games. He aced it imo.
They went the best way possible and created an original story inside the Fallout Universe. They can now do whatever they want, which gives this series basically limitless potential. Looking forward to what comes next.
Goggins is one of the best actors working today. I love that line after they cut each others fingers off when he says "this might be the first honest exchange weve had"
I could be wrong but this is probably the best video game to television adaptation I've ever seen. It's true to the source material, it looks exactly like how we remember the games, the people in it behave exactly like some of the npcs in the game. It's honestly mind-blowing how insanely true to form this show is.
@@MrMGR1986 The witcher TV series is more based on the books, than the games, so not a fair comparison. Halo was shocking though! Last of us nailed it, but its just the game story told in TV format. I think what stands out the most with this, is its a completely original story within a pre-existing universe that doesn't fuck with already established lore, or even come close to retconning anything. I don't know of many, if any shows that have managed that.
I don't know much about acting, but Walton delivered such a performance in Justified I don't even remember Walton Coggins being a part of it, because all I see is Boyd Crowder. I am genuinely happy to see this man celebrated for his dedicated work.
He may not be casted in a New York mob movie but mafia has history in the South too. A Tampa’s Ybor City mob movie with him rather than Ben Affleck would’ve been great, very few actors can replicate such accent combined with solid acting performances as Walton does
@@Psychosis1179 Yeah but I saw someone said that either way Bethesda retconned so much more then this show ever did? Which Idk what that exactly means but I know they didn't make the originals so maybe something to do with that.

For the first time ever i feel like they actually got gamers to work on this show. Weather thats the case or not, its the best adaptation of interactive media ive ever seen.
I mean who didn't giggle at Goggins complaining about side quests or the detail in the mutations. The cleverness of everything was on par, stuff that the games did alright (comedy here) was done so much better. I mean they were able to snag the cast as well, forget the main stars the comedic cameo's are top notch as well.

Hard to say. Hollywood hates white people and/or smart people . And any TV show/movie that such people like, will be cancelled or bastardized or dumbed down into some commie/politically correct BS before too long.
@@danielalbrigtsen5282 That is what I appreciated about it- they were upfront in that they were going their own way and their own timeline, not trying to make something that fits. They also did it YEARS after events in fallouts main timeline, so even if they try to 'bridge' it, it has loads of possibilities for how it happened and how it can be applied. They made an adaptation that was ACTUALLY an adaptation and not trying to be 'it'.

@@himynameis3664 there's been a few good ones, The Last Of Us was fantastic, Cyberpunk:Edgerunners, Arcane: League of Legends, Castlevania are the ones I can think of. Cyberpunk maybe doesn't belong because the video game wasn't the original source material, idk.
You mean Bethesda game and Todds approach? Stupid and constant humor to ease-out the violence and storytelling like Marvels do. Did a great job at finding the main niches of Fallout and putting it into a great story; if you role play the game it is usually as a vault dweller, brotherhood of steel or and wasteland outlaw and you guys hit the nail on the head!
as a movie and series buff I really appreciate all the b-listers and character actors whos name nobody knows but they do the work and carry the story, and I really wish many of them to have their breakthru and be remembered - for me he did that a while ago in The shield as shane, and later in Justified as olyphants nemesis, good luck and lots of interesting roles for him, we the viewers are the real winners :-D
Never played the game. Never watched cutscenes of the game. But i just want to say, Fallout is so nice to watch. I love every second of it. Also the vault mysteries.
New Vegas has a great story but it's a little clunky and assumes you've played games in the series before. Your best bet is to start with Fallout 3 since it's the first game in the series after Bethesda bought it.
New Vegas does such a good job encapsulating what it wants to tell you that you do not need to have played the game that came before to get it. It just makes it more fun if you have to know how deep the lore goes, but it's not necessary to enjoy it at all.
My first time being introduced to Walton was on The Shield. I was young. A teen when that show was airing. I rewatched it in it's entirety years later and have huge appreciation for him and every other actor on that show. He really is a talented dude.
