Today we take a look at Yamazaki Mazak UK Ltd, Badgeworth Dr, Worcester WR4 9NF.
We notice some goods in wooden boxes being loaded so we use the zoom camera to find out more about what's inside.
We speak to security who then invite us on to speak to marketing.
Nobody was available but it was the effort that counts.

The Mazak security chap seemed fairly smart and approached in a friendly, curious way rather than launching into "you can't do that". He assessed the situation and made the right choice how to handle it.

I know a fair bit about Mazak's. I've worked on their machines for many years. The long parts outside wrapped in tarpaulin are conveyor belts. But they make lots and lots of different types of cnc machines, and all different sizes.

The courtesy they showed DJ appears genuine and sounds like a great company to work with. ⭐⭐⭐⭐👍

i can remember using a 6 ton FLT to move a massive injection moulding machine at THURGAR BOLLE IN KETTERING it was so big i had to move one end up the room a bit then do the other end a bit until i hade moved it from one end of the factory and there were 22 machines in all 11 both sides

NSK are a large ballbearing manufacturer. I worked for them years ago at their Newark On Trent site. Big plant and would be interesting to do. It was very important during the war because of its manufacturing abilities and it's close proximity to airports and railway line. I heard there is a large multi storey hospital under the staff car park that is left as a time capsule and is opened for the public every now and again. Never seen it myself but this site would be a decent visit. Other businesses on the industrial estate too.

I worked for Nachi in Australia for a while, plus other companies that sold NSK, NTN and other brands. They all have an interesting range of products. Nachi also made robots, cutting tools etc. Mazak has a great reputation for their machinery.

I would love it, DJ, if you could have a look at my ex employers Ocado at Tongwell in Milton Keynes. They sometimes run their vans for hours before the driver sets off on his route. Can be 2-3 hours. How they can claim to be eco friendly is beyond me. While you're at it visit John Lewis MP1/2/3 in MK. The security think they're the government😄😄😄😄

Tip for you DJ. When you zoom into a label like that it gets quite shaky and hard to read sometimes. You might want to take a photo or freeze a frame from the video then it makes it easier to read. Not a big deal because people can pause the video but just a suggestion.

MAZAK are a manufacturer of various CNC machinery. Japanese owned but assembled in the UK. As an Engineer I actually use those machines for machining precision metal parts - not a bad machine to be fair. Great video and as very usual, staff not up to speed with the laws.

I did the training course for the sqt 300 msy. The factory tour was an eye opener but not as much as their canteen. So much choice for food from around the world. I remember the japanese garden with its meticulously raked sand. I was a little disappointed with the f1 car minus its engine.

The Worcester Bosch combi boilers are brilliant, as is any Bosch product: Bosch Super Plus Spark Plugs in your car engine, power tools, lawn mowers etc. They maybe a bit more expensive, very difficult to damage. Excellent after sales service.

You see if you are old like me you will remember MAZAK (pronounced Maze-Zack) being the trade name of a very nasty zinc based alloy that was used in the construction of car body accessories such as door handles and mirrors - all the things that would be made a plastic nowadays. MAZAK was horrible because as it ages it falls apart like a nice piece of Wensleydale Cheese due to the phenomenon known as Zinc Pest. I guess they don't have crumbly cheese in Japan?
