It's more so the notion of going down swinging fighting YOUR good fight, and in doing so, finding honour in the unbreakable spirits of those who have walked that path either by choice or circumstance.
I think the chorus is supposed to be interpreted separately from the verses. “Fighting the good fight, until the good Lord calls you Home” is you doing your best as an individual and living life as a good person. Whether you’re a service member, janitor, farmer… Live life to the fullest it has to offer
"Fighting the good fight" is one of the only "catch all" throughlines that connects "fighting for freedom (or at least what we were raised to believe that military service was all about) " and "fighting cancer".
The miltary is go down swinging no matter what. Make your life matter. That the only way to go. Yes war is stupid. There is a old saying no one knows cost of war more then a soldier and no one prayers for peace more then a soldier. Soldier know the cost of war more then most people. I served 20 years in the army.
It's a "Spartan-like" salute - basically, "You died well, my friend". LOL - But he follows the "It's the only way to go" by saying "Fighting the good fight til the good Lord calls you home", so he is saying to stand up for what's right, whatever the strife you are involved with, never give up, basically to be "honorable". @2:40-ish - the only people that can have that attitude about war are those pretty confident they will never be conquered and ruled by those they don't want ruling them. Just saying. I don't like war any more than the next guy, however, I am not sheltered enough to think that the world is safe enough a place for wars to be done with as of yet. Anyone who believes we ARE to the point of being able to never have another armed conflict is fairly ignorant in my opinion.
Depending on the focal point the minds eye vew 10 people will see different things looking at the same picture 😊 different situations will bring different meanings from the same song
Yeah so just to help you understand a bit better (I live in Georgia, the US state, not the country) he’s more so saying that pursue what you think is right in life because you never know when you’ll be gone.
Im a WV Coal Miner, God honest truth not making this up I'm the youngest of my brothers, but my oldest brother that is a twin I look up too has did his time. I'm the youngest and I work everyday day in and out I still wish my brother Jacob no harm or anything because he is the one on the front line. whose gives me freedom to call this place America.
I love country music mostly, well because my bf sings, but yeah I am looking forward to more country reactions, I just gotta remember which ones you have heard so i don't request it , ❤
I think he means the only way to go is with a one hella of an amen. Like going out with a stamp a mark not just going out pointless. Go out for a cause or something you love. Go out with a bang.
God gotta love Brantley But yeah the song isn’t about glorifying dying at war it’s about never giving up no matter the odds. And if you do at least you went out swinging
