Recorded at home - with excellent processing/production from Dwyer Scullion. What a great job he did! And for anyone wondering who the one with the angelic voice is - it's my partner, Linda Rasa.
People commenting on the “vocal effects” used need to understand that the original version of the tune had them AND EVEN MORE!!! These two NAILED this difficult tune precisely!!! Think about it…A man, a woman and a guitar…Vocal effects or not, these two did a REMARKABLE job on this tune, and they deserve the credit for doing so!!!
There is an ENORMOUS difference between using modern effects and using 1970s tech recording back ground vocals, and mixing it down on analog tape multiple times FOR EACH OF THE 12 NOTES. Then further mixing down by using the mixing board as a "keyboard" by sliding each channel level up and down in sequence with the chords / melody of the song. The "bah bah" you hear the woman singing is actually imitating the channel slide being moved up and down quickly. There are no pics, but they had to have 12 loops of tape running around the room at the same time the were at the console, shoulder to shoulder, eaxh having three faders. The cover is nice work, but comparison to the original is MS Paint vs something in a museum.
My father died. I was traveling to the funeral down I -55. I was an emotional wreck and then this song came on the radio . I knew all the lyrics. When it got to the point where they say BE QUIET, BIG BOYS DONT CRY. I HAD TO PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY AND GATHER MYSELF. I COULDN'T CONTROL MY TEARS.
@@cathyswanson6387 I wish you all the best. I'm so sorry for your loss. My father passed 49 years ago. I think of him often. I'm retired now and music has helped me get through many problems in my life. When I was young and dumb. I didn't realize how important people are. They say..... Whoever " THEY " are. You don't know what you got till it's gone. How true.
As a 68 year old woman, this song brings a lot of bittersweet memories and associations c.1975 because I was in love and he wasn’t :) Beautiful song and brilliantly performed. Just amazing!
For anyone feeling the sad need to inject negativity, these are just two unknown but INSANELY talented musicians doing a cover of a song that is incredibly challenging to replicate - and they have done an amazing job!! Thanks for sharing 😊
Learning how to deal with those feelings in life I think is the challenge of life. Your not always going to happy. Your not got always going to be sad. Learn to deal with it!
Excellent! 10cc looped the original so that it gave them 624 voices to simulate a choir . I think the three members spent three weeks in a studio to get the effect they desired . They did 16 tracks and then just kept looping it . The female voice in the original was a secretary who interrupted the session to announce that someone had a phone call . When they heard her voice , she was chosen to be the background voice ! I’m remembering from a while back so don’t shoot me if I mixed up some of the details . No fake news was intended and no animals were harmed burning this comment!
Does anybody understand how incredibly difficult it would be to make this song sing like this , beautiful and you have great guts too even attempt this version , pure music magic , thank you 🙏
I remember laying on the floor, near a heat vent, when my brother put this 8 track in. He played this song a lot. I didn't know it then because I am 5 years younger, but my bro was in love at 13. He and his sweetie married at 17 and stayed married for 40 years and in love until the day he died. Such a beautiful song and an amazing cover as well.
The original soundtrack chorus was re recorded several hundred(?) times to produce the quality that made the song famous. And here you are both doing it as if that was a whole waste of time. I love this music and now i love you both. Thank you for sharing.
Actually over 600 voices on the original for the background humming. Band members voices dubbed over and over. It was an experiment with wonderful result!
@AlmostReady504 true. But still a great job. Question though: is the main help they are getting through turning up the echo very high on her microphone?
Why bother commenting just to dismiss these two without some good critique. Why the nasty stuff. Truth is it's great , thanks guys, I love this song and it was just a good cover.
Absolutely excellent and wonderfully done. Thanks. It brought back haunting memories of hearing that song when I was a teen and it was new on the radio.
This song came out when I was a very young child, before I started school I believe. I have always found it eerie to the point it gives me goosebumps, but it's beautiful at the same time. Haunting.
I love the original. With all the layered overdubs on the original, i didnt think it was possible for just 2 people to do the song justice. But these two are excellent.
Well, as a musician for 51 years, I can give a qualifying opinion and compare it to decades of high quality instrumentation/vocalization. In contrast to being a basement keyboard warrior who has no class.
10,000 subscribers for a channel with only one video? That just goes to show how amazing this cover is! I'm subscribing as well, just to make sure I don't miss anything else you two might put out in the future. Thank you for sharing your talents!
I was 12 when this was released. Super haunted tune by 10cc. Riding in the car with my mom, it was always a shock when it started playing. She always did the backing vocals. Rarely did the lyrics. Occasionally, yesterday is right there. Music and fragrance can skip through time.
Wonderful! My gosh this was a difficult song to cover! That is if you wish to replicate it’s sound. I am most blown away by the woman’s harmonizing. The original in studio laid over 48 voices for this sound and she did it alone! Beautiful and well done! ❤
Thought I would just give the intro a quick listen. Found myself totally lost in the song and appreciating all 4 minutes and 39 seconds. I wish it never ended. Thank you so much !!!
What a fantastic rendition of a pure Classic. Clean, pure and almost ethereal. Goes to show that it doesn't need a 16 track sequencer to make beautiful music. There'll never be a replacement for pure talent. Well done guys, simply beautiful to listen too.
