The last game I ever pre-ordered was Halo 3: ODST for the Sgt. Johnson skin. Walked into GameStop with $10 to save my copy, paid the rest on release day to pick it up. Nothing more, nothing less! Sadly, it's not that simple anymore.
People who always mismanaged money now cant do it anymore. You paid 15 bucks for a sandwitch? What are you fucking stupid? I can buy ten loafs of bread, cheese and meat and condiments for that money and feed myself for a month for that money.
Preordering shouldn’t be a standard practice for the gaming industry. It’s a very anti-consumer practice, that serves nothing to the customer. Whatever money you give a company for a product you have not received or been promised yet, you’re telling the company that their practices are acceptable. Whether they favour you or not.
I think there have been a case or two where the studio went bankrupt before they were able to honor their pre-order promises (A few weeks after initial release). Leaving the people who pre-paid for the DLC with nothing. I dunno if the publisher would then be on the hook to deliver.
@@kurtfrederiksen5538 I believe that they should be sued for that money for the customers. If they market that “If you pre-order, it will include ****” and the company don’t provide it, that is an infringement on Consumer Rights. Their poor money management is not the responsibility of the consumer.
@@OrkWarbossThrakka the problem is sue whom? The company has shut down, no longer exists and has no assets. Even if you did sue and win, it would be impossible to collect what you are owed. This is what we call litigation proof.
The PvP in SM1 was actually really good. Everything felt useful, as in, all the grenades, the combat stimms, the guns all felt good in their own way so you could really just use whatever suited your play style.
It was great but some minor gripes in my opinion were it generally felt pretty unbalanced and the ttk was really annoying and wayy too fast, which makes me nervous because I really hope they can make the classes balanced in game
I’ve learned with battlefield 2042. Luckily enough I was wise enough to refund during beta. Never gonna pre order anything and coming a from an avid space marines 1 player I’m extremely excited for number 2 but I’m not pre ordering 😂
This is absolutely the right mindset. I sat here and thought about justifying the price by the season pass and cosmetics or whatever but no matter what way i spun it in my mind, I could never accept giving over an additional $50 (ontop of the base price) just because i'd be able to play it for the weekend it before it's official launch - which they clearly did to make people want it more. remember we don't even know if this game is properly functional until it releases.... it's not like I need to list examples where that's happened in modern gaming from Triple A studios.
To be honest, I don't even see the point of Pre-ordering, there is very often no benefit whatsoever. Play the game a few days before release? That's stupid, even if I am very hyped for a game I never EVER pre order, I thanks No Man's Sky for this, and I LOVE the game but hated pre ordering it.
Pre ordering makes sense when you KNOW you're going to play and enjoy the game regardless. Like mass effect legendary Edition. I have thousands of hours in the original trilogy, you think I'm not gonna pre order the 4k remaster? Persona 3 Reload, a remake of my 2nd favorite game of all time I pre ordered because I knew I was gonna enjoy it. Pre Ordering makes sense when you're 100% confident in a particular game.
Tbf I had one time I did that and pre ordered very early. When it got to the week of early access I was so busy with work and never got to play it anyway early. I spent extra money for no reason lol.
@@PhthaloGreenskingood for you. But all of that bs you just said. Does not hold up against the actual problems. You're just telling the world that you enjoy mistreatment.
Ultra addon is just a Power Armor Skin and a Heavy Bolter Skin, says so on the Focus Home website when you go to pre-order. Also its a 10USD price bump, which seems inline for a single skin set. Simple research.
B2P game battle passes should be the same as Helldivers 2, where if you bought it it's yours and you can decide when you want to play and progress in it, 0 FOMO, FOMO sucks.
I'm from Russia. I pre-ordered the maximum version to support the Russian developers who are making this game here in Russia, in my city of St. Petersburg. The guys are trying hard, so I believe them.
@@anarcho262 Man, they're programmers who make games 😆. How do they relate to the war? You watch too much propaganda on the news 🙃 They have the same relationship with modern warfare as you do with the Iraq war. 🤡
@@СтАрАеМсЯ-б5ы Tell that to the people from Atomic Heart who supported the war. Don't make me look like a clown, while you are believing people just because they are living in the same city as you. You're the whole circus my mate.
@@anarcho262 Good. The United States has supported the most wars in the last 70 years, America has used slaves from Africa, trafficked people, killed Indians. Why are you buying games made by Americans?
@@Meekoid Being a person with a functioning brain shouldn't be praise worthy, but then again you demonstrate that AAA companies grooming their fans into giving money they do not deserve is still a very incentivised strategy.
You guys know damn well that fromsoft is the only developer currently doing more and more than the community could ever ask for. Pre ordering from them has guaranteed money well spent
Buy any game you like when they release, never pre order. I made that mistake with the dlc that Activision insists in calling a full game for MW2, the new one. I will definitely buy space marine 2 when it comes out completely
I don’t pre order games unless I absolutely know it’ll be something I like. I know very little about 40k, I watched a couple videos to learn about it because my friends and I want to play this game. If I do pre order it’ll be close to release.
I preordered literally a couple hours ago, 1 day before release. Only because im working all week on release week so i wanted to get some gaming in beforehand
i really wish they did the same pre-order style form Space Marine 1, depending where you preordered from, you got a special chapter cosmetic. If i remember correctly, i ordered form gamestop to get the Space wolves skin.
There are two reasons why I won't buy the ultimate edition. 1) I'm not spending money on cosmetics, I stopped doing that when I dropped League of Legends. 2) I'm salty that there are no Lamenters cosmetics.
so wait... your trashing on a season pass because it only gives you cosmetics? you do know if they charged money that would make a 60$ game pay to win? ya I get not pre ordering or not wanting a season pass but just because you don't want something doesn't mean that its not one of the best thing in AAA history for the past 4 years because idk its not pay to win? why is that bad?
I don't think he's aware that the season pass for the DLC is in the game. I imagine the Space Marine super fans will be buying it, I've not got an issue with that.
no hes mad that the company is pratically making u pay extra to play the game early and finds it stupid that people are preordering it now when we havent seen much of the game what is everything else like the dlc and season pass can be purchased out of preorder? they only thing u get for the money u spend is a messly cosmetic pack and a 4 down payment what if it ends up Like SSKTJL where the servers dont work and launch is horrible? wasting so much money to not even get what u paid for! if u preorder it for playstation thats a different story u get figures and all (IRL things) but for me in malaysia i am not play 300 rm for early access and 3 cosmetics sure i will pre order the basic game where i get the dlc for 169rm but i am not spending 259 for early access and season pass! cause i can get seaon pass for sure in game laster and i am sure as hell not getting a champions pack with 3 items that will bring the total to 300rm wasting money!
@alexshaw4182 the dlc is understand able if u read the full thing I typed Imagine paying 300 usd for at most 4 days of early access and some glorified cosmetics
I was gonna preorder SM2. I wanted to sooo bad simply because I was blinded by my love for 40K. It looks beautiful, fun, it's a sequel to a badass game, plus all the bonus cosmetics and perks got me excited. But after seeing everyone talking about not preordering and taking into consideration my experiences with preordering and the general climate in the gaming community as far as buying games, I am no longer blind. If we truly want big companies to listen to us and deliver what we ask for at a price we deserve, we have to deny them our money and our clientele. Make them work for it, don't pre-order, don't give in, as much as you want to.
Gold edition is not "to play the game 4 days early". It contains season pass which is worth the extra 30$ and that 4 day early access is labeled as "pre-order bonus". And noone is forcing you to buy the golden edition, so I see no point in complaining. I preordered standard edition (this is first time I preordered a game), because I knew I would buy it anyway, and it also gives you some extra cosmetic DLC. And don't forget that although this game costs 60$, it is a FINISHED game unlike other AAA games.
No need to buy early access, we already got the "early access". The game is running around the web fully playable, I will not say that I stayed late last night playing the game, but I stayed late last night playing the game 🤓 It is amazing! I will buy it on steam later on.
Don't care. Pre ordered the collector's edition a year ago. Forgot to mention, they don't even make you pay yet. I literally just got the email saying they'll bill me for it next week
You have a lot of "youth" and impatient people who simply cannot wait for anything and absolutely need to have it ASAP. Those same people will be the ones whining and crying about day one bugs and glitches though.
For one not everyone plays Xbox for two some people prefer specials on specific systems and 3 not all games come to game pass I have multiple systems including a Xbox even if this is on game pass I’m still buying it on ps5
@@ZHBraden13 Ah yes, the "the opposing side is just a bunch of kids and people that have no reasoning", you kind of just prove your ignorance out the gate man.
Here in the UK, I managed to pre order the ultra edition for £60. Which, in todays market, is an absolutely insane deal for the most expensive edition of a game.
honestly bro you cooked with this vid. subscribing, you single-handly saved me from a preorder I was actually thinking about going for. I still have faith in this game, though, hopefully in the coming months what more information we're told and shown will look just as good as the other trailers Edit: I caved I pre-ordered.
dude same i will wait and see if the game is good and untouched by the warp's corruption. if yes i will buy it but if not then i'll aways have boltgun and space marine 1 to play
It looks really good and I’m planning to play it with the boys when it releases, but I’m not preordering. If I decide I want the season pass, I’ll buy it later.
Imo if you support a system, then go out and complain about such system while still supporting that same system, your opinion is null. Im so sick of these youtube videos that complain about some mtx store a game has, while at the same time having a fully kitted out character with all of the newest store items. I bet you the same thing will happen with SM2. The game will turn out bad or something and all youtubers will complain about it. But you know that most of them are going to be rocking those same pre-order exclusive items.
As a dude whos player SM1 PvP, shit was fun and relatively balanced, rounds weren't too long or short and people of all skills levels had good fun killing and being killed. That being said, I'm just waiting for the standard edition when it releases because I'm poor 👌🏼
The biggest problem that I don't see being addressed anywhere is that most early access dates are on Thursday or Friday and official release starts Monday or Tuesday! It's like you don't get early access? You don't get to play during the weekend...you have to drool through the weekdays until the next weekend...it's like they do this on purpose!
Did anyone know about the pc config ? I'm curious they seemed to not disclosed it . Either they working on optimizing it or they don't have a fully stabilised gameplay with pc .
I feel like the reason they don’t do demos any more because if they know if there game is bad they know people won’t buy it at all I haven’t seen a demo for a game in a long time now
Because simps ruined gaming look at them all in the comments various reasons to do the same dumb thing. I will wait around to watch it fail and play my old games from a distance come out on discount for $20 I might pick it up. Grown ass men Simping over playing dress up as a space marine in a video game fucking sad. I might start my own gaming company one day that sells no games just pre orders.
Only the good and passionate projects get demos. Example - Stellar Blade. It was a great game and have a great demo that sold the game for anyone on the fence about buying.
The thing is, the people that are gonna complain are the casuals that aren’t gonna stick around so don’t even bother wasting your time or money. I’m gonna preorder the gold edition purely to support warhammer and to support saber interactive. I don’t really care what whiney ass babies have to say. I hope they don’t play it.
Last time I pre-ordered a game, a major part of why I was willing to do so was the fact that the pre-order bonus was an early-buyer bonus and carried over for a week after the game's release, I actively went out of my way to give additional support to the devs *BECAUSE* they made it easy not to feel pressure to do so.
2:09 To be fair. Wearing pre-order exclusive items is cringe as hell during the first month of a game. When it starts to shine however is in like 1-5 years when most people have moved on. Just nice to have a little "I was here since launch" and/or a "I was here during the beta" ( Unfortunately space marine 2 beta was canceled :( )
Preordering is bad period. But nowadays I think the issue has grown beyond preordering stuff and into everything having live service "support". If anything I'd say backpedal and preorder as much as you want. Then never buy anything pushed by live services like season passes, cosmetics, and whatever other overpriced junk they peddle on you. I only recommend that to anyone that actually buys into live service stuff though. Either way YOU still shouldn't but someone will
I just say "anticipate" seems curse dawg Remember starcraft ,starwars ,halo 2020 and hd2 Those rise as high but someday fell from grace I dont want to say hd2 or lethal company or palworld Sure they can fly high but someday will fall
I only purchase physical copies (if I can help it) of games. So the extra money gets put towards the Steelbook case which I'm a sucker for Steelbook cases. So I'm getting something extra for the game, but digital purchasers are getting ripped.
I’ve preordered it, cause I have a good feeling bout that like, you know I’ve preorded just like two games my whole life no man’s sky and cyberpunk so trust me I have good taste when it comes to stuff like that. Also what’s up with the Canadian dollar those prices sound ludicrous
IThe only company I have ever preordered a game from is Larian (Baldur's Gate III) but Larian is a special case. I'd never preorder game from an AAA publisher or a company which has not earned our trust (like in this case) yet. Still hyped for this game and very likely to buy it, though. But no way I pay even the amount for the regular edition before I haven't seen some unbiased reviews of the release version.
I pre-ordered the physical gold edition because i really wanted the limited steelbook. Also season passes are usually 30-40 extra anyways, maybe half when on sale. So ultimately I feel like getting a steelbook, a season pass, and getting the game nearly a week early makes it worth the extra 30-40 bucks
Bought the collector's, Your reasoning isnt great tbh. You repeat yourself twice about the season pass. Which they said it was cosmetic only, lol. Plus They confirmed to have multiple factions you can customize and play as. On top of that if you actually read specs. It says co-op has endless replay. All about research. Which is what i suggest you did before this video w no open proof. Yeah your right isnt gonna stop. Your argument wasnt compelling enough nor did you have the actually facts to back it up, because you openly admitted you knew of Saber but never played their games. All in all i suggest get more about the verse then come back.
Your arguments aren’t better though. They can say all the shit that they want in the description of their game, doesn’t mean it’s gonna be great. Just like Bethesda advertising fallout 76 or Starfield as the best game of this decade. Preordering is always wrong, even if the game turns out to be the best game ever made. It’s just gambling, and the only way to win at gambling is not paying
Quite a lot of people are discouraging pre-ordering games, some for arguably irrelevant reasons, others for totally relevant ones. All that really needs to be said about preordering is that you as a grown adult work hard for your money and should be capable of making your own decisions on what ways to spend it. Preorders only offer minimal incentives but do actually go a long way for the development of a game as a larger percentage of that purchase goes to the developer themselves, this helps to build revenue for future projects or current ones. Being open minded, well-informed and capable of fact checking things for yourself are crucial skills and attributes that need to be used when making decisions about your money and how you spend it.The underlying fact is to think for yourself when deciding on what your money is worth spending on as the consequences of your poor financial decisions fall upon you and you alone.
Preordering is ALWAYS a mistake because if they get paid automatically upon delivering the product, the incentive is to stop working on sellability of it, quality of it, amount of it, and get it out the door asap.
@@86Corvus when a developer wants to create a game, they go to a publisher or a publisher goes to them with an offer, if the developer accepts the offer it means they owe back what the publisher gives them for the game. Preorders allow developers to invest more money into the game as they develop it so that they don’t have to owe more money to their publisher and in this case, the licensing fees for IP.
I PO'd because for those 4 days, I'll be leveling the classes I will be playing in Operations and PvP and my Marine will look different before the masses join. Maybe a weird way of looking at it but thats the itch I need scratched.
I'll probably just do what I did with armored core 6 and hold of on pre-ordering till the final day that way I can see what the people playing with the early access.
@anchorsaway1gaming nope, I didn't like helldivers 2 but just from what I see alone helldivers 2 offers more action than you'll ever see in SM 2 ... I don't make the rules Cry more
I’m in the same boat as you. The game looks great and I’m hype as fuck but I’m waiting for the beta. I don’t even need to play it personally, I just want to see lengthy consecutive gameplay that real players have access to.
I agree that preordering without seeing gameplay is a bad idea. But now that the gameplay of creators has been published, it's safe to say that the game will be good and pre-ordering at this stage is fine.
Even in debt, I still serve! No but for real I’ve been waiting for this game ever since I beat the first game when I was a kid. Really high hopes for this game!
Us in NZ and Aussie do get shafted pretty hard with our pricing like you said. I am concerned that the cross play implementation hasn't been spelled out so I don't even know if I will be able to play with all my mates across PC, Xbox, PS5 or whether it will be silod as the term "crossplay" can mean everything and nothing these days.
That’s valid, I’m still gonna pre-order though mainly because from what I’ve seen from the early access gameplay some RU-vidrs have it’s worth it and it’s not like the price will change when it actually comes out and I get some cool things though that isn’t a concern
@@GamerSingularity I am, I just don’t much care tbh I understand that pre-order is somewhat predatory towards gamers and that these days companies care more about the money then giving the fans a good game and by pre-ordering I’m proving them right, it’s just I don’t care
@@Theredknight-y7x In that case, thank you for your honesty and I retract my previous statement. Honestly, I can stand behind someone making a decision for a good reason and that seems better than most. I am looking forward to the game too and I did pre-order FFVII remake for the same reason. (1st pre-order since Black ops 1) Take care and hopefully the game rocks! Peace.
is it just me that thinks pre orders on digital games is worthless since you can always buy them on release. Because pre order made sense for CD games, if a game was highly anticipated you could think the store would runout and had to wait for the next batch
