The FeelWorld Cut 6S is a lightweight and affordable entry level monitor with a lot of customizable features and ideal size. Unfortunately, if you’re operating at a mid-senior point in your career, this monitor is a mess. Flimsy design, long startup times, poor image quality, and electrical safety concerns are among the drawbacks that have led me to return this.
00:30 - 00:50 What to expect in the box: no standard cabling, no power supply
00:50 - 01:07 Extensive start-up times
01:07 - 01:39 Navigating the menu
01:39 - 02:01 Quality of the scroll wheel
02:01 - 02:28 Image and color quality
02:28 - 02:45 Recording to a USB stick
02:45 - 03:05 Sparks Fly!
03:05 - 03:17 Powering off
03:17 - 03:38 Wrap-Up

Just bought this monitor before I saw your review. I’m a beginner but I found that for the price, it’s actually a great monitor. I also had a hard time to match my camera monitor but after about 30 minutes of playing with it, it works perfectly. No sparks here so far, but then again I like sparks. ⚡️ love the video.

I'm glad my video didn't discourage you haha I didn't want to be too harsh on it. It just wasn't right for my workflow but it's got good value for sure! Definitely keep an eye out for those sparks though and make sure to register your warranty asap in case something happens down the road. Appreciate the feedback!

I got it to assist these aged eyes when on live shoots. This monitor is almost there, it has all the features you want, and its reasonably priced, but for the life of me, I can't understand why they decided that you would want USB recording over the micro SD card. They are also not very forthcoming about the bitrate, which I finally found out via their tech support.

@@eastkingstonnh yeah I’ve found not all of their monitors are made equal. I have been using one of their 17 inch quad-view directors monitors for about a year now. It’s incredible for only $700ish. The split screen and dual hdmi / sdi inputs has come in handy more times than i can count, and the color is pretty accurate. There’s just so much variation between their products and no real consistency.

Very interesting points. I am looking to get a budget monitor that can record in mov or h264 on an external ssd. The reason I want something like that is because a bigger screen helps me see better and I want it for my home videos and not for professional use. The problem is that my camera does not record directly on an external ssd, so I want to have the option to isolate the video from the photos.

If it won’t be for professional use, you could give this monitor a shot. I know that as someone who would be taking it into the field, it didn’t feel sturdy enough for me. And the scroll wheel would have taken too much time in situations where I often have half a second. But if this is only going to be used by you, at home, without a client breathing down your neck, you could have a different experience. At the end of the day, you could always return it if it doesn’t fit your needs.

So glad you talked about color accuracy. That is hit or miss with feelworld. Got one of their 5 inch monitors and it was great, didn't have to change anything. Then got a 7 inch and the color was off. Highlights were peeking on the feelworld monitor but not on the camera monitor. Had to play with color for so long to get it looking similar. Thanks for the quality review! Your cinematography looks great!

I really appreciate the feedback! Yeah I'm working off the Hollyland Mars M1 Enhanced right now as my main onboard, and the color accuracy is strikingly good. I hear you though I was just shooting something two days ago and using my 17 inch feelworld for reference - with all 3 camera angles patched into it. If I was someone who didn't work off histograms and false color, I'd be wildly under exposed, because the Feelworld 17 inch was coming off so bright (even after being calibrated). If you were someone who only went off the monitor, you'd be in trouble, particularly when patching in 3 different camera models.

I appreciate that, thank you! I decided to go with the Hollyland Mars M1 Enhanced and I've been loving it a lot. Its about a $150 USD price different but well worth it in my opinion.

@@sjgaweda I'm struggling with the decision of the M1 Enhanced and the BMD Video Assist 5" at the moment. I pre-ordered the Pyxis and trying to setup my strategy of rigging. The issue is I already have the Holland 3 Pro set but love the fact of not having to mount another thing to the rig to get transmission. on the other the Video Assist will allow a little more flexibility with recording and maybe camera control (I submitted this idea to BMD last week and last heard it will be mentioned in next team meeting). Eventually I may end up with both so switch when needed. Great vid, keep them coming!
@sjgaweda
@sjgaweda 4 месяца назад
@@VidHeadz I always found the BMD a bit too bulky, and with really thick bezels on the screen. The recording functionality is great of course, but these days I'm most interested in making my rig the lightest and most portable haha. Then again I dont often record externally, or need remote camera control, so it always comes down to what's best for everyone! My main setup is using a M1 Enhanced as my onboard, transmitting to another M1 being used as a portable directors monitor, and then going to a Mars 400 receiver for my 17 inch monitor for the client. I've heard good things about Vaxis too if you haven't tried any of their products yet!

This was an interesting review but was solely based on YOUR knowledge base and in fairness what you did explain. This is definitely a budget option versus say a Ninja V but if you had that product would some of your comments still be valid only because you paid $400 (or so) more? For instance you should have checked the voltage and regulation of your "dummy" battery as there is a lot of variance in quality among them and why I build my own or at least check them under load. The monitor draws a stated 11 watts and most dummy batteries are rated for 7 watts so you might have been stressing one that was not suited to your application. Having experence has taught me to drill appropriate vent holes in the dummy batteries to allow them to run cooler but and again these are things one learns from experience and actual knowledge not "blind expectations" As to the USB that sort of comes down to board design, the amount of real-estate on it as well as what a designer sees as the use case. There are numerous USB "sticks" that are very low profile some only a 1/2" in length that would eliminate your issue. As to your monitor matching experience this is a valid observation but and again comes down to your experience and use case. Most camera setups have monitor brightness controls that can give you a picture while pleasing is not valid as a "reference monitor." The only way to work is to use proper charts and check the results. Did you use a gray scale chip chart and the WFM then a color chip chart and the vector scope? Do you know how to use these tools? As a "Gaffer" it is fundamental to know how to use these tools to understand light in the video/cinematic environment. Again getting a product then immediately using it in a manner it was not designed for without proper knowledge or system integration experence is not fair to the product. From what I hear you seem to be a "plug-n-play" person that really does not know how to use or check what they are getting technically. I suggest you expand your knowledge base and certainly before clamming the titles in the business you do. Just being able to plug in a luminare and point an imaging device do not earn or deserve the title of Gaffer or DP. The military calls this "stolen valor"... with all due respect.

Hey, thanks a lot for your thoughtful comment! I'm fortunate to have been in the game for almost 15 years now, lucky enough to own monitors from various brands ranging in price and reputation like Small HD, Hollyland, Feelworld, and Atomos. My aim with the review was to offer a quick, personal take since I couldn't find many reviews when I was considering this model. I knew I was going to return it, but before sending it back, I wanted to share my thoughts. While I could have delved deeper into the specs, it wasn't my main focus, hence the upfront disclaimer. And yes, I do own and use chip charts haha. I came up filming on 16mm and mini DV, nothing about my expectations or experience has been plug and play haha. Not sure what gave the impression that I don't have the knowledge or credits to work as a DP or Gaffer, but feel free to check out my website linked in my bio. Thanks for tuning in!

A couple of issues with this video - first, it's touch screen, so why would you insist on talking so much about how you don't like the scroll wheel? Just touch the screen instead. Also, what power rating were you feeding it compared to what it calls for? Lastly, you talked about the color being under saturated, among other things, but you didn't mention how the recordings came out. What did colors look like on the recording?
