The song is very realistic not everything is sunshine and rainbows all the time even when you have found that self love there will absolutely be times you have doubts and I believe he’s trying to show that that’s ok I love this song if shows both sides of the coin and the feelings you get on a journey to self acceptance not just when you get there it’s pretty brilliant
I think of it like realistic recovery core, you'll have days of doubt but those flaws are ok and part of the process you just need to see the big picture that you are worthy of the effort. I think it rides the line of metalcore being endlessly depressing and pop being nauseatingly positive (often). Sorry for the essay I just think this type of music is so important for people like me who have definite things to work on and need the realistic encouragement sometimes.
