This video really pissed me off. You shouldn’t have to explain yourself...just because you aren’t working bedside does NOT make you “less of a nurse”. I am an adult ICU nurse and it’s been really tough even though my hospital hasn’t been as busy as places like New York. Nurses seem to get so much criticism about everything we do (from the general public AND from fellow nurses) it truly angers me. I feel like we are supposed to be these self sacrificing, perfect angels and that we are supposed to constantly take all the criticism without getting upset or showing frustration. Sorry you had to go through this!

If you have a current RN license, you are a nurse. Doesn't matter if you are at the bedside, management, public health, research, etc. As a fellow RN, I am with you. Your role in the workforce is still necessary. I don't think there is a need to apologize. Stay safe and healthy Miki.
Are there licensed practical nurses in the USA? We have them here in Canada and there also nurses and not RNs. There scope of practice here is wide. The only thing that they can’t do that RNs can do is spike a blood transfusion. They do everything else even set up iv for the blood transfusion.
Ronnie-Lynn Dolan that’s right! I apologize, I should have added that as well. I am based in California, so LPN/LVNs in my state can do most nursing tasks depending on their additional certifications such as IV medications and trach care. The major difference that I know of however is that their scope does not allow them to provide any patient education or make assessments. Of course, it is in our nature to make assessments especially if a patient is going downhill, but our LPNs/LVNs must report it to their overseeing RN if any interventions must be done.
@@ronnie-lynn yes, but their roles here are defined by each states practice act and not a set national standard. In my state LPNs cannot start IVs, administer blood products, or perform assessments. They can note their observations, but cannot perform "assessments" with recommendations.

I was an adult ICU/CCU RN years ago and then went into Case Management and have tele worked for 2 years. I remote into the hospital records. No biggy. I am a RN 16 years and counting. 1000s of settings and nursing opportunities.

Social media can be useful to help people share things they want to share. Even if you were no longer (not saying that you are not) a floor nurse, a nurse is a freakin nurse. There are different avenues to nursing, one in which could be an educator. Keep your privacy and share what you want to share. You are not obligated to disclose everything. RU-vid and social media is a platform to hopefully extend the best portions of yourself to generate positivity and knowledge dissemination for the greater good. There are portions to nursing that many people don’t see. It is exhausting but at the same time rewarding. We are not robots. The same thing goes to creating content. You have the power to create what you want and be as expressive as need be. I’m glad that you found some sort of balance. And as a fellow ICU nurse, and previous pediatric nurse we need to stick with each other rather than bullying and tearing each other down. Thanks for spreading positive vibes. To those creating hateful comments and negative vibes, ya just have to pray for them because more so than likely, they’re not satisfied with where they’re at in life so they use social media to express their hurt (even if it’s in the wrong manner). I am also an RN who works in a “nontraditional” setting. Those commentators and viewers who say you are not a real nurse probably do not have the credentials behind their name, have not an ounce of knowledge of how broad the profession of nursing is, and are purely ignorant.

I once had a NICU nurse tell me that I wasn't a real RN because I was a Pediatric Case Manager. I just laughed. There are so many opportunities for a RN to expand their knowledge and expertise. Don't let people belittle your education or your position; and lastly, NEVER apologize for helping people.

My dad who’s a registered nurse tested positive for COVID-19 last week. 🙏🏼❤️ Its been such a scary & unpredictable time for my family. We are all getting tested for it as well. As a medical surgical RN working on the frontlines, I can understand why you chose to focus more on yourself and what u can do remotely to help patients. I wish I could stay home as well but know that any of your work is special! Kudos to you to putting your mental health first. We can’t practice compassion on our patients, if we don’t do it for ourselves first.

I am so sorry for what you're going through - I want to say that I've been working a really unreasonable number of hours across two jobs + my own business (also creating content) and I'm burning out hard from the hours and it's only been 5 months. I look at people pulling it off online and wonder "why can't I just make it work? Other people work 65+ hours a week and seem to have it together!" so it's reassuring, frankly, to hear that other people can't do it. Please take care of your health and your loved ones, you don't have to prove anything to anyone!
I was working at a hospital right before covid-19 broke out in the states, and then left to take on a new position. Once covid-19 broke out, my department transitioned me to virtual case management instead of seeing my patients face to face. Every nurse has their role in the healthcare system, regardless of location. It is our willingness to help others that matters. Sending love 💕

Hello Miki, you should not have to apologize for anything. Many people jump to conclusions right off the back when they don’t do all their research, such as watch all your videos. There will always be critics out there that starve for you to fail. As a healthcare worker, I wanted to jump into the action too, but I do have a duty to work at my current job. I cannot just up and leave because that would leave my employers with less staffing. Keep your head up and don’t let these things bother you. People these days want to see you fail because they may have their own insecurities, so they have to put someone else down. Keep doing a wonderful job in educating everyone! FIGHTING!

I have so much respect for health care workers who are at the frontline during this pandemic. They are true heroes because they can take time off or quit, but instead they want to take the role and make a difference. It's not a job anymore but an opportunity that they've trained their entire life for. Heroes shine during crucial time like this. I am so proud of their courage. I love how all these nursing "influencers" often have not even been nurses for 1 year before posting all of their videos and insta pics. In my experience you have to be a nurse for at least 4-5 years before you can really get a sense of all the ins and out of the field. With that being said i do appreciate this video!
