Linus need to install pneumatic tubes between the buildings so they can transport small stuff like cables and adapters in 20 seconds instead of 20 minutes.
@avalanche1990
@avalanche1990 Год назад
The only real problem with this is the buildings are quite separated and there are other businesses in between that he would have to get permission from to do this. As well as clearing it with the city of Surrey which is currently a little dysfunctional so the approval will take its sweet time even if they do give it. They also might deny it so either way there would be major hurdles to get through
@stefan514

Pneumatic tubes are quite a thing to install and simply an outdated system. If they really wanted a fast way to transport small parts in 2023... In drone would most likely be a better option in pretty every aspect (besides during the night or bad weather)

SUGGESTION: Linus, since your people are new (and probably not used to your process even if they have processes they've learned), why not have them storyboard the script. This way, they're not just reading the script, but trying to create frames, it gets them into the mindset of, "how are we going to shoot this". Again, the storyboards don't have to be anywhere near the level of art someone like Sarah would generate. Stick people and boxes work FINE. And you can then review the storyboard and say "Yes, no, how about this, have you thought about doing this." And with the storyboard, everyone (Cameras, lighting, sound, etc.) will know not only their part, but what to expect of the rest of the crew to prevent people tripping over everyone.

Once you get into the c-suite positions the attitude is very different. It's not so much reporting to as much as you're a team and work with each other as equals. At least that's been my experience working for someone that's in that position. I imagine it's not too far off from that at LTT given the way everyone does seem to actually enjoy being there and enjoy working towards a common overall goal.

CEO reports to linus because linus is the owner and head of the "board", so to speak. The ceos job is to navigate Linus' company for him, so even though the ceo would be directing linus on a day to day basis and will have some power over what linus does, he will ultimately be working to achieve linus' vision through the method and means that taren believes is best. If linus were to ultimately disagree with him, there's nothing preventing him from firing taren under whatever terms and conditions the contract allows. Linus still has his 51%.

Hey there Linus. What you are talking about is a comprehensive operations guide that anyone can pick up and you get repeatable results. It’s a ton of work but when you have one, it completely transforms your onboarding of new staff. It also allows for dynamic cross training so folks that may have a different but similar responsibilities can easily step in and fill gaps in personnel. If you want a quick but informative read on this, find the book the E-Myth. There’s one chapter that very effectively lays out the concept and it may help. Also, and I run into this ALL THE TIME in my business, anytime you are going to drop knowledge, get it on camera. A DJI Osmo with mic kit will fit in your pocket and while it won’t be “LMG” production quality, you will have the necessary archive with the dialog which is what you really need anyway. Hope that helps Cheers AGW

I do feel like San Francisco and New York definitely have a greater density of them. I don't recall one that wasn't as integrated into the city scape or specifically blocking a view. When I think of billboards, I think of road trips with the family as a kid or movie poster ones that are more artistic. I think mostly, I ignore them, don't see them the way Linus doesn't see online ads. I think the most useful, wait those nothing for ### of miles, warnings were signs not billboards, I guess. The most used billboards, in my experience, were those gas, fast food, hotels at this exit, so you'd wait until it was the one(s) you wanted to get off. These days with maps, GPS you probably already routed or look up when you got hungry. So maybe the billboards don't tempt people to unplanned exits anymore? I can't really recall actually going out and buying something, hiring someone or even picking that as the movie that I watched, after seeing it on a billboard, though. Even with the road trip food, gas, hotel, they're just a sign post of something I was already looking for and ignored, when I wasn't. Online ads (especially egregious dark pattern) , stadium ad screens, the names of stadiums changed to current Corp owner ads, in game ads (& the nightmare fuel.

There are so many more difficult situations like that. I don't know all the regulations in north America, but this most certainly is not gonna fly in Europe. Something called consumer protection. Or to say it a bit more bluntly, consumers (people) aren't all smart enough to oversee what they are getting themselves into. I am seriously flabbergasted that it's even allowed to begin with. This is also the point I don't agree with Linus. Yes, people doing this already anyway, that's completely true. But the main question is if you should protect people from it. I've been more aware of my online privacy recently and starting taking measures to prevent this sort of thing, but I should've stayed ignorant because it seems like the problem started escalating around the same time. If you were to go around and ask random consumers, the majority would tell you they don't care they are being spied on, the 2nd biggest would say they didn't know, the 3rd are conspiracy theorists that would say your 3D printer has a camera an mic (or other things that obviously won't have specific spying technology in it) that will read your facial expressions when you aren't looking. There are some countries in EU, like Germany, who can tell from history that such things didn't go so well. Why would it go better this time? LINUS, you need a training program for these departments. And it has to be reviewed on a regular basis. Maybe every three to five years it gets reviewed and updated. Maybe it's a yearly thing. And the thing about is you have employees you've trained. You can task them with creating this content and updating it as you go. This is something big companies do. Some of them are required by law to do this. One of the things that isn't mentioned much outside of the healthcare community in the US is that HIPAA requires staff be trained and retrained every year. The Office of Inspector Generals (Another Federal thing part of the US Government, except they report to Congress, not the President) also requires any healthcare and "healthcare ajacent" companies to not only train in HIPAA, but also the Whistleblower's Act and laws (plural) regarding kickbacks, fraud, and waste. But the brilliant thing is, YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO IT YOURSELF! You have writers, editors, camera operators, gaffers, etc. who are all already trained on your processes. Get them together to work out how to film the "how to" videos and also add writeups to the knowledge base. You have Floatplane to host the videos. Sounds like Luke has a "how to" repository built, but you could always grab the wiki software to create one for the various companies. You can even include things like the employment regulations that apply to them, harassment training videos, company expectations, code of conduct, what to do in emergencies, hazardous materials handling and cleanup, etc. Heck, if you need help, I am more than willing to go. Did part of that when I worked at my companies ITSM Service Desk. (We had to generate our own knowledge base because many IT departments were siloed at the time.)

The average person would love more privacy but they can barely make ends meet so they either give up their privacy and mental health or they opt out and eventually lose access to something most people have. Personally I've noticed a lot of Browser-based games grow recently, which are becoming increasingly more viable with more optimized frameworks, growing Vulkan support and better implementation of web apps. I actually think we might see a revolution at some point of major game studios investing proper money into a browser-based experience. The difference for people who already post everything on social media with the tv thing is that with social media you’re choosing what you put online, you press post, with a tv that monitors your every movement you have no “this is my private time” You should be in full 24/7 control of what information about you is out there, you should always be the one that chooses to put yourself out there actively in the moment, it shouldn’t just be a passive entity sitting in your living room that you agreed to some indeterminate amount of time ago

The Telly TV is almost a word for word recreation of the Telescreen from 1984... except it's controlled by a profit seeking company. I disagree with your take on this. It's dystopian.

I had to switch the LTT channel to always notify rather than personalized. Personalized always notified me of your new videos, but recently a full week of unwatched video went by before I went out of my way to see what videos I missed and try to figure out why notifications just stopped. RU-vid is such a mess.

As much as the free tv creeps me out, I can't help but agree that we definitely saw this coming a long time ago. I wonder if you could hack or mod it with a different display driver to use it just as a display lol

11:38 the whole story you just described on how you trained those four… you should've basically recorded that whole thing (a recreation of how you described it). Upload that to a KB to be viewed in training and also as a reference later on. And also build up an outline on topics discussed.

The TV reminds me of minority report when Tom enters the mall and it immediately starts marketing to his new eyes. Edit as an EE major, yes to the capacitor water bottle. I will take one of each. Love the foil joke dan. Stuff like this is why I love the WAN show

I tend to search for the same wan show multiple times during the week, I almost never have time to listen all in one go. Could that impact the "popularity" numbers of old / last week's wan show?

Linus, you keep mentioning it takes two, you should really try Unraveled Two. It's kinda similar and really fun to play with your kids or s.o. The characters make you feel very nostalgic for some reason.
