But that mix of his energy + having a heck of a time = something magical I have been a fan of his since "In Living Color". It is so awesome to see Jim bring everything to his performance. We are so lucky, he brought that energy to this role 😊

Honestly, Robotnik/Eggman tends to carry most Sonic media. Most of it he's just this great campy ham of an evil scientist that is a joy to watch. (Except for where he's a legit threat, but usually still enjoyable). Carrey is one of the very few live action actors that can accurately capture that enegery. So its no surprise to me that he might be the best part of this movie.

I've been watching all these interviews with Jim in front of that exact same poster and you'd was one of the best. I loved how you pointed out that connection between the posters of Sonic and Cable Guy. It must have stuck with Jim too because he mentions Cable Guy in subsequent interviews a few times (or maybe prior? I've been obsessed but just short of creating a timeline like a conspiracy theorist).

He went through some awful times. A girlfriend with lifelong depression issues committed suicide and there were years of lawsuits and media slander between JC and the woman’s really messed up family. I guess money and success can’t buy happiness.

Jim Carrey is also a method actor, so where there are movies where he's goofy (which means backstage as well), there's movies where he's legitimately an asshole. Or one at least, Man on the Moon. Many actors can't control their method acting, and Jim Carrey was one of them.. Could have ruined not just his carrer, but his life entirely many years ago.
