I think the white house you zoomed in on was the Little house. If so my mom told me her aunt Julia Lockhart Little lived there. She remembered the name of Sunny Beachum. My mom is almost 90 years old now. Her uncle was James Lockhart Gaddy who had the Gaddy's wild goose refuge, started in 1934. It used to be famous. You can find post cards with the goose farm. My mother left for college in the 50's and never moved back. My family visited the goose refuge in the 1960's.
The Dunlap park was gifted to the community by my 3rd cousin, Amos Haynes Dunlap, an artist photographer, teacher and family historian. On that space was the house of Tyler B. Dunlap... Haynes' father. A grand old mansion with some lovely pecan trees and proliferate flowers grown by my Uncle Tyler. The front porch was wide and lovely. When Uncle Tyler died, Haynes who had a lively photography business in Charlotte, moved back home and in to the family home. He'd had some trouble with dementia and drinking, and ultimately died in that very house, in a house fire. I loved Haynes. He was lively and intelligent and had a heart of gold. Lucky for Ansonville, he left behind a lovely legacy. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions....
Thank you. I enjoyed walking through your town. I'm sure the old church and large homes in the area have stories to tell,. I could feel the history there. I wanted to eat at the restaurant out of town past Shady Oaks, but it was closed. It looked like it would have been a great place to eat.
@@julioiglesias6424 I haven't been to the Old Farmhouse in a couple years. Are they still open? I'd love to go back some time. Some of the best food I've ever had.
