I haven't been there in a long time, but I really liked it based on briefly visiting. Last time I was there, years ago, it felt off the beaten path compared to most of the state but that is quite a large downtown for a relatively small town with less than 5,000 people. Thank you for taking me there virtually!
What a beautiful, interesting, historic and vibrant place! I enjoyed this tour of Edenton, NC, Timothy! "This mine field of dog sh_ _!" Now that's priceless! 🤣👏 FYI, Edenton has many annual festivals that celebrate the town's history, culture, and the arts; they are: Heritage FarmFest - A family- friendly event held in June; Easels in the Gardens - A 2-day event pairing talented plein-air artists with special gardens; FaithFest - A Christian Music Festival held in September; Christmas Candlelight Tour - A popular daytime event that ends with candlelight tours in the evening; Edenton Tea Party - Considered the precursor to the famous Boston Tea Party; Chowan County Regional Fair - A popular fair held in late September; Christmas Kickoff/Tree Lighting Ceremony - Held in early December in historic downtown; and, The Pilgrimage Tour of Historic Homes - Held every other spring.
An awesome series of events and festivals. I definitely want to check one out at some point. Thanks for the info. And yes, that amount of dog shit in a public park was ridiculous 🐶🐶🐶
About 25 years ago I had a college kid from Edenton that worked for me one summer. I asked him about the area and he said they were trying to make the town more inviting for tourists etc, in hopes of improving the economy for the local folks. Looks like they've been fairly successful at it. I'd definitely pay it a visit if I'm ever down that way.
Edenton is one beautiful town Timothy, and I appreciate your visiting this one. Seems to have everything one could ask for, and more. If I were a single guy, I could see myself easily living there .
Cho-juan County. Coincidentally, prior to being Downtown Roots (a restaurant/sandwich shop), that storefront was a salon (Shear Pleasure) for many decades. Gordman’s never opened up; the sign was hung after that building was Belk and then Peebles for many years prior. A very talented young man painted the windows; he also painted them last year for Christmas. You didn’t make it to the court house; you missed it by a block when you turned around at Taylor Theater. It’s just past the Broad Street/Queen Street intersection, across from Bridgeturn Exxon.
The dog scat doesn’t apply to the Edenton I knew well from ten years ago. I’m certain you can still obtain kayaks and canoes from the town park down by the Bay. And Nixon’s Catering buffet is very, very close on Virginia Road with tasty Southern BBQ and fried whole pickled herring.
The people visiting are probably the cause of the dog poo. It is shame you have to put up signs and provide bags to get it to stop. Thanks for the kayak and food tip. And thanks for watching 👍
North Carolina only recognizes incorporated towns as municipalities. These municipalities can call themselves whatever they choose; city, town, village-the size and population do not matter. There are municipalities in NC that call themselves cities that are smaller than some that are called towns. Thanks for watching and commenting.
