267 Sword wounds 152 Bullet wounds 46 Canon wounds Shirohige died standing up, with not a single wound on his back. He died with the title of world's strongest man, feared as a demon and respected as an Emperor of the sea.
@@govindthakare8471 He literally got swords going through his whole body like 2 episodes before this????? that makes no sense. I'm talking about Squardo shoving his sword through him btw
More epic, when I saw this old guy strapped up to medical equipment I didnt understand the strongest man in the world title, Marineford showed me why he was called that, even as an old man
He was also a clever way to develop Roger by proxy, as Whitebeard was the closest person to become the next pirate king and the strongest person alive however in spite of that never actually became pirate king, showing there was something special about Roger that placed him above Whitebeard despite of his overwhelming strength, charisma and force of character.
the part with the camera following that one helpless navy who was far away from whitebeard getting dragged into the storm anyway, and you see him do all he can to regain balance stuttering and whimpering as he crosses another random navy soldier within the same tornado and suddenly hes kilometres above the island its perfection this is divine anime production
YES!! This is actually my favourite scene in the anime! It's just so amazing to see one marine flying, poof the smoke dissipate, and you see dozens and hundreds others also in perils. I didn't know how many times I praised the animators for the transition back then while I repeat it.
@@jaycienlovelace3123 you don't question the beard, it is a beard, the man died standing, now I am not saying he is immortal, but even if he is ded you best be weary about questioning the beard, it's the one thing you don't do.
Just imagine this: You are an elite navy soldier, proven yourself in many battles, maybe even in the New World. Your strength and speed is low level superhuman, far stronger than regular humans even dream of becoming. Maybe you even show enough potential that your officers started training you in Haki or Rokushiki. Anyway, you are among the 100.000 best of the Navy, chosen to fight in a war against one of the World Governments greatest enemies. Your skill and speed have so far kept you unharmed in this monumental battle. You are rather close to Whitebeard himself. A truly frightening foe, several times a normal humans size, umbelievable strength and one of the most powerful devil fruits of all. A walking, living legend. But he is old, sick and injured. Sengoku gives the order to finish him. This is the chance to prove yourself! You and your comrades have stood against unbearable odds before! Together you can surely beat the monster! Together you charge at him. Some of you stab Whitebeard, one fires a bazooka directly into his face. He starts to fall! Then, suddenly he straightens back up. His voice like an angry roaring thunder as he reminds you who he is. He takes one big swing with his giant blade. Doesn't even use his feared devil fruit ability, just the strength of his arm. A gust of wind, a huge shockwave rips your body from the ground. There is dust and rubble everywhere, you can't see anything, you just feel that you have absolutely no control over your body anymore. The dust clears and you realize that you are suddenly hundreds of meters above the ground, falling to certain death. How frightening that must be.
In a world, There're Giants, Hybrids, Fishman, mink & So many unknown types of people. Among them he's holding the title "THE STRONGEST MAN IN THE WORLD " Many Navy soldiers never even seen him in real life. So they've a very few idea bout him. & This moment they just realise, how terrifying things can get. When the Strongest man/dad gets pissed.
That was epic and thanks for taking your time in writing this. It helps to put things in perspective. But knowing One Piece I think most of them survived falling from that height.. Specially those who know that Moon Walk thing. Injured sure. May be they got taken out later when Akainu started blasting Magma.
2 major things that Whitebeard and Roger have in common. 1. They're both total badasses. 2. They're last words changed the world and involved the One Piece.
God it's crazy over 10 years later and we still haven't seen an attack of just raw power and strength match this. Kaido and BM have the durability but man WB was just a pure monster of strength.
White beard was really way past his prime, he couldn't use haki effectively, getting hurt by silly attacks, not being able to predict attacks, he relied solely on raw strength but it wasn't enough. If I were to imagine his prime, he would go in alone, rescue ace and get back while capsizing marine HQ.
When you realize that Whitebeard is a half dead old man, and pulled this off. Imagine him at his peak. Scary. The World's Strongest Man. That title aint no joke.
I don't know if it was intentional but I really like that Whitebeard's coat looks like the coats the admirals wear, just without the "justice" kanji on the back. He doesn't care about justice and yet is a much better representation of it than the majority of the Navy
This is genuinely one of the best scenes in One Piece, even as a non-watcher. You see this titanic man get stabbed by multiple men, and his head blasted by cannon fire. You think "Surely that must have done some real damage to him." No, he EATS it, stands back up _while the soldiers themselves are still lodged in his chest,_ loudly proclaims "I DON'T NEED HELP, CAUSE I'M HIM", and proceeds to send half the battlefield careening into the sky. After that, he grandstands as if he's admiring his work. The addition of the one isolated scream at 2:16 opening up alongside the dust cloud into a cacophony of free-falling marines is just perfect. That's how you portray an (almost) unstoppable force. Strongest man in the world? Yeah. I believe it. If they don't make you say "What are you even supposed to DO against that" at least once, they're not a good "unstoppable force".
Ivo Robotnik If you take it that way its on you, i simply stated fact's.Whitebeard was strong and held that title but he hasnt been the strongest for awhile.
+Ace Arsenal He's Whitebeard the pirate, they're Marines. To them he's one of the most powerful person of the most considered evil activity of their world. Would you mind that people wearing justice coats ganged up on someone like say Bin Laden because he'd be old and have a bad heart condition ?
+Ace Arsenal Actually if anything this simply reinforced that age and heart conditions hadn't robbed him of being the strongest. Read it again, "Even though he is dead, his body never gave in. He continued to mow his enemies down. That man, if anything was surely a monster. In this battle he was slashed and stabbed 267 times. His body was hit by no less than 562 bullets. And the number of cannon balls he received numbered 46. And as testament to his pride on the back of his body, and indeed his entire life as a pirate....not a single mark of cowardice scars it." That's what it took to bring him down. "Look for what it takes to bring down Whitebeard" as the meme would say. He tore his way through an entire army of Marines, cut through the three admirals, losing half of his face in the process. Was about to put Blackbeard out of our collective misery, and at the end of that it took a squad of Level 6 prisoners emptying their weapons into him at point blank range to kill him. Not put him down, because they couldn't put him down, they could only kill him...barely. It took that much to kill a 72 year old man who had spent the better parts of his past few years hooked up to heart monitors being cared for by nurses. I would posit that he was *still* the strongest, it's just that his age allowed the others to close the gap a little. Because if you review the battle, no single person out there actually blunted his assault at all. The one who did the most damage was Akainu, and he got his clock cleaned.
That soundtrack with, The Great Whitebeard rising with smoke running out of his face just gives me shiver down the spine, no matter how many times I watch this
To all those people out there, whitebeard is nothing like he was. If you recall marco said whitebeard, had he been in his prime would easily dodge sauardo (I think) attack. Truth is it seems as if the power of your haki decreases the older you get. However, that could be false considering Rayleigh was able to evenly match kizaru, but then again whitebeard seems to be a lot older than most characters plus his declining health may have also been an issue. To be honest, even though he was in sick as hell and old as fuck, he still managed to stand up to everyone at marineford. Had he been in his prime there wouldn't be an aokiji, kizaru, akainu and about 98% left alive. More than likely garp and sengoku would be the only one who could stand up to him as they too are legendary remnants.
It still might be true about haki weakening with age I mean I really dont think Kizaru is anywhere near the strenght of Rayleigh in his prime days many people speculate that he was just a little weaker then Roger wich even if thats not true he was still second in comand of pirates king ship and that says a lot.
I think I'm beginning to understand the strength of the top characters in this series. When we think strongest we usually think brute force or an invincible power e.g. logia. However in one piece, Will is Power. When comparing garp, roger and whitebeard, I think the conquers haki is an important factor, the power to break another will power, a.k.a their haki. Thats why people see luffy as such a major threat after he uses it. If you can use conquers you can overwhelm other haki users (not just make the weak faint). And its also the reason I believe garp could fight roger, his haki is just that strong willed that he is able to do so. (maybe the will of D. will also be a important factor) Whitebeard has pretty much mastered all forms of fighting style in the one piece series. Haki, Devil fruit power, Weapon technique and is even a skilled strategist. I get chills just thinking how strong roger was if he could fight whitebeard equally. (during his prime no less)
that is one of the thing that are most fascinating about the series. I think the the attribute that made roger so damn powerful is that he had not change his temper even after getting the most devastating injury means he was still in determination of butchering his opponent and not think rationally about him or his enemy for even a millisecond he received his unstoppable power by never backing down for a second and not being dependable on surprising power up mechanisms like haoshoku haki. He just fought like insane because of an extremely unflappable will/
Whitebeard was a true man. You have all these anime characters talking about true men like Kumadori & Elfman, they're schoolgirls compared to my boy white beard. I still wish he'd lived long enough to fight Kaido. Now that's a fight I'd pay to see. A clash of titans.
The Ultimate Offense vs the Ultimate Defense. I think the only true loser in that fight would be the entire rest of the population in the One Piece world.
The ( D ) is a powerful letter among a character that has it, not only in One Piece, but in other anime too: Devil Man, Vampire Haunter D., M.D. Geist, D Gray Man, etc. There most be something ELSE hidden in this D that we don't know of.
Random Skyrim Guard: I was an Adventurer like you, till i took an arrow to the knee. Whitebeard: Is that all? I took a canonball to the face and still kept going.
Wish they would have stick to the manga death of whitebeard. Everyone would know that doesn't read the manga how badass he was when half his face was blown off and kept on fighting.
at least they don't make it too bloddy. you know one piece never show blood when someone rekt fooders. i know how you feel, but at least the anime make 2nd hole in whitebeard's chest by the same villain (akainu). i think i can buy it
it woulda been better to show ppl that only watch anime's and don't like reading the manga's. But i guess its fine. Whitebeard would always be a badass to the end of his death.
Looking at most recent flashback clips and then looking at this. His illness, or even just age, made him so much weaker. Unthinkably so. This is still badass Whitebeard but fuck he was jacked in the day. No spoilers, but he certainly lost his mojo in comparison.
true, he was very clearly old and it was affecting him a lot. but he does seem way wiser compared to back then. he just had a more dangerous aura to him, like he has seen shit

Not even prime whitebeard who contended with Gol D Roger. Prime whitebeard and the WB Armada would have obliterated the WG forces. This is an aged whitebeard who was sick and got IV hookups. He took on all 3 admirals, vice admirals, countless red shirt marines, and the Blackbeard pirates. Barely used haki. An absolute monster.
Dudes got marines hanging off him like nipple piercings yet still has the op ness to make a speech about who he is... Screw Senor Pink. Shirohige the true hard boiled master
man, can you imagine whitebeard in his prime. The whole marine could never stop him. And he uses haki too. If he uses armament haki on his spear then swings it full power he could easily kill every enemy. He is the perfect gatekeeper to the throne of the pirate king. All hail Old man whitebeard.
The Marine could stop him indeed since Garp and Whitebeard are equal in strength. (After the recent Chapter it could be that Garp is even a bit stronger than whitebeard) But apart from that if Whitebeard would use his DF to full extend in a fight.. damn bye bye one piece world. Whitebeard = Garp >>> OnePiecePlanet
If the whitebeard pirate's got out quicker, whitebeard would have definitly defeated every marine there. He couldnt let it all out cause his family would have been destroyed aswell. I love that i only see this now that ive matured over the years and have a different view on why he "looked so weak" when i seen this ark as a kid. Man i love this anime so much haha
Finally somebody who realizied that whitebeard had the body and the power to do more AOE Damage than anyone in One Piece this is why he was thw strongest emperor bring a fleet wB sinks it bring a kingdom whitebeard kills every living theme .
He killed hundreds of Marines with a single attack and wasn't even using his Devil Fruit power. Later he nearly killed Akainu while mortally wounded. That man rightfully bore the title strongest in the world.
Not to mention all that at the age of 72 being on life support and without the use of any type of Haki, he must have been a monster in his prime. Prime whitebeard >>> Roger
@@izakireemsi2783I would have wanted to see Old Whitebeard and Old Garp go 1v1 at Marineford, both really badass and can still beat up Admirals easily.
Hanad Hassan agreed but madara is a villain without a good reasoning while pain had a great philosophystill respect whitebeard more than them tho, they r villains u know😑
@@mowgli6554 you're not manga reader, but Marco name his attacks. And Garp uses the Love Punch against his grandsons. But it's a special attack so we can accept that Garp and the others remaining follow the statement. I buy it.
LifeofAbz1 I'm pretty sure the actual reason for that was because the Japanese don't have a word for "beard" or "mustache," instead they have a word that refers to facial hair in general. And the translators decided that "Whitebeard" sounds better than "Whitemustache."
It’s genuinely incredible how Oda managed to write Whitebeard so well that we only saw him fight basically once, and even lose that fight, and yet he’s still one of the most respected characters in anime to this day.
Well, it was a large war with multiple encounters, technically he fought multiple times and defeated multiple enemies hah. Even those he didn’t defeat got generally humiliated (Akainu & BB).
The only other on screen fight was with Roger and technically speaking that was only with the anime, the manga didn't flesh it out like they only clashed like with Shanks
@@ultimatedragon8013 depends on what time youre looking at. Back than WB would clean the ground with kaido for sure. There was only one person that could stop WB and that was roger.
+IsThatAHam Let's not forget the fact that he'd been stabbed in the heart already, had a heart condition BEFORE that, (Of the "terminally ill" variety) and was way past his prime at the grand old age of _seventy-fucking-two._
when people see this for the first time in the arc and I was like what the hell kinda physical training did this guy had! like shit man that tornado with the music and falling people......too much of an op character....!
Out of the Four Emperors of the Grand Line, the Marines not only provoked one of the most morale, but arguably the strongest one. If this had been Kaido or Big Mom, the fans probably would have been rooting for the Marines to win.
Yeah true. But it’s a bit annoying to see him not even trying to defend himself against these fodders. Well, I guess he never had an intention to return from this fight. He could’ve easily avoided like 60% of all the damage he took of he really tried.
@@aswinottapilavil495 He was dying already before he even arrived at Marineford. What we see here is an extremely weakened, old Whitebeard far past his glory days. In his prime, this battle would have been utter one-sided slaughter.
2:09 This moment always gets me. The pure panic of the soldier, just trying to get ahold of himself, followed by the vision of several hundred men falling to their death, their screams echoing through the sky. Like, I'm not fighting this, fuck you, send the Admirals.
The view down alone is terrifying. Dude was like in, what, row 15? 15 rows behind the guy that was face to face with Whitebeard and a haki-less attack of pure strength still sent him into airplane levels of the sky. Nah fam
Of course they were part of the reason. The power that Whitebeard launched to send all this marine dudes flying was later missing for giving Blackbeard a final hit. Of course houndred of small fry people were part of the reason why Whitebeard was already to exhausted in his last battle.
The animator directors decision to follow the one marine flying in the debris was perfect. Watching the realization of how far up he was, how many were there and the disorienting perspective of being or or down was great.
You know, the most insane part about this clip is the fact he didn't use his devil fruit but his raw strength alone. Now this is an old timer with a disease, a stab wound in the heart, and a hole in his chest. Just imagine White Beard in his prime with no injuries and disease. Edit: thank you for the likes, guys don't get too heated in the replies.
SPOILER: Oh some guy with such strong conquerors haki he can imbue them in his weapons to deal massive damage that sends shockwaves bigger than tornadoes?
***** dude if u watch a lot of japanese anime u should know that most of the anime end up the main character being dead or getting killed, so yeah dude, luffy will die at the end of the anime
It’s honestly both sad and awe inspiring when you realize that he ate those attacks because he literally couldn’t dodge them. He was so “weak” in his old age that he just couldn’t move like he used to anymore, and he still did more damage to the Navy than all other pirates there combined. Man was a fucking legend
