It’s because you enjoyed them. You grew attached to the characters, learnt the song lyrics off by heart, mastered the combat system. Pushed the capabilities of Sonic so far that even in his invincible super form boosted by another power, he’s still knocked unconscious and battered by destroying the physical embodiment of the end of existence. That’s why you cry. Because you enjoy the game, for it’s flaws and it’s upsides, for it’s ideas and innovations, you grew to enjoy the weird quirks and strange things that occurred. That, is why you cry. Because it’s an excellent game.
Something about this track speaks to me. I wish I knew what it was... Yea, it's definitely the lyrics. I don't know what they're saying to me, though. I'm guessing it's just that reassurance that I'm not alone in life.
Ending the game with this just feels right. I really like how they kept the melancholy of the original I'm with you despite the lo-fi take on it, and the vocals fit the melody incredibly well, almost as if they were always meant to be there... So, after all of this, what do I think about the final update of this game? Music wise, it's a pleasure, it takes the best elements of the base soundtrack and runs with them. The actual expansion? Well, it's frontiers taken to its logical extreme. More ambitious, more exciting, but also just as rough around the edges. The 1.4.0 patch makes some very positive changes, but I'm not huge on the insane power buffs most characters have received, it's way too much. Still though, I had fun, and I'm sure this experimenting will prove to be useful for the next mainline 3d release. All I can say is, I'm excited. Good luck sonic team! 🤞
