LETS FUCKING GOOOOO this is fantastic Nili, can't wait to see what comes up of this. Please do what you can to bring Dash into tournaments, he's always sorely missed and I'd love to see him rewarded for having a backbone
This is awesome to hear, lets go Nili! Great to hear you haven't been standing stil (couldn't really imagine you doing so either) and I absolutely love your continued involvement with the AoE scene, that can only produce great things!
I just follow the AOE2-scene from the sidelines but as a German myself you were one of my entrypoints and I'm really glad that you remain an active part of the community, even if it's from the sidelines. Gives me a comfy feeling :)
So exciting! You are such an essential asset for the community and the game in general! Your presence is, and was, sorely missed, and I cant wait to follow and be a part of your dream! ❤
Great news Nili! It put a smile on my face to hear that you'll be approaching things a bit more "professionally" (eg working a normal amount of hours.)
Congrats Nili! I wish you good luck so you are able to effectively balance the viewers' desires, players' needs while achieving the Microsoft's goals. (And please revive the team game tournament scene!)
Really great to hear. Not only for you, being back at the franchise you love with hopefully a better schedule for you and your health. But also for AoE in general, the number of especially high profile tournaments has declinded signifcantly since last year. That shows that Microsoft is still invested in the franchise and in the eSports scene. (And I assume the position is for all Age of Empires and Age of Mythology, not just AoE2)
This is awesome to hear! I think for both players and viewers, having more consistency in what kinds of tourneys run when is definitely needed. It's a rather unfair comparison because of how much more "established" other esports scenes are, but League has their Split system, Starcraft 2 has ESL Masters, those are things people can immediately wrap their heads around. I love how grassroots and community-focused AoE is and I never want that to go away, but more structure is definitely welcomed. And Nili is definitely the right person for the job!
Congratz, Nili! Considering how you raised the level in tournament organization by introducing the swiss system and consistent rules and admin behavior, everybody should be looking forward to whatever you are cooking for the aoe tournament scene. Good luck!
I like that idea of getting therapy to prevent you from doing the same mistakes and preventing 16hr days causing burnout. If you have any nuggets to share on this that would be appreciated!
I think it's better if you talk with a professional to figure out what works for you. what I'm planning: - more breaks - no emails/discord on phone - fixed start and end date - sports in the morning - yellow light in my room during work hours, blue in free time - 10 min screen break after work
Great to see you back but also making sure to take good care of yourself Nili! No one wants you putting your health at risk. All the best in this role ! :)
