Wrong. She doesn't really want the kitten and neither is she letting the kitten suckle her teat. Why? Because the kitten has been experimentally cross-bred by this unethical breeder and the mother's behavior is instinctive. The kitten has some physical genetic defects due to the cross-breeding (and that's the reason her siblings have died too) The mother isn't at fault, it's the breeder's fault. Experimental breeding should be banned. It's animal cruelty!

You all have no idea about cats. First thing: The Bite, lick, bite thing is the usual way how parenting cats communicate "stop it" to the young. You can see that also between adult cats sometimes. Its actually the nice way of stop, as you all know the not so nice ways The holding with the bite is play. I guess mother cat has had not a lot of interactions with other cats, so she has got no idea of her strength. Obviously this can become a problem, but its unlikely. Cats that learned when growing up and as adults, what play, rough play, and fights are, can be very gentle when playing with humans, dogs, other cats or their young. I have noticed this difference a lot. And its the same with little children, if they dont learn what strength is they can be brutal later.

I agree that Kiki is ready for solid ground…it will aid in proper leg growth and muscle tone. Also lets not forget that Mimi is a very young mom only one kitten to focus on. I think she also plays with Kiki, not just in a mothering way. I would set Kiki free from her blanketed box and let her spend more time with daddy! 💜💜

Until this point Mimi has been the perfect mother, her love and tenderness for Kiki🐈🐾 was a joy to.behold. However, I concede she is certainly being overtly rough with the little one which is totally out of character.😢 I worry Mimi may be 'in heat ' as the impulsive excitable moves Mimi is displaying are very similar to before she became pregnant. I think both Coco and Mimi should be spayed (If that is the correct term) to ensure a more suitable and content temperament in both cats. Whatever the reason for Mimi's drastic mood changes I think a Vet should be shown this footage and they can give their informed opinion on what is happening and how to proceed.

I have 2 cats. Cheddah is 2 yrs older than Echo. When we brought Echo home as a tiny kitten, Cheddah would groom her ALL the time. Still holds her down and grooms her.

Also it's only one kitten .her energy . maternally is set up.for a bunch of them..a litter...so all for one looks like this

This is a perfectly normal behaviour for a cat. She is giving him kisses while wrestling with him, meaning, everything is fine, we're playing. And cat mothers lick their babies a lot in general. At least it seems a lot to us.

I have agreed with your point of view and others who share the same opinion but my replies were curiously deleted.🤔 So I will be brave and try once more! Do you think Mimi may be "in heat" and this may be the reason for her sudden over excitable rough play with Kiki 🐈🐾 Coco approached Mimi in a prior video and was a little er.. over amorous😥 which caused outrage in the comments and the Owner deleted the video. If the situation has not been rectified is it possible it is contributing to Mimi's behaviour? I would genuinely like to know your thoughts ,even if I'm totally wrong!😄 I don't agree with the general consensus that there is nothing to worry about and think a Vet should be shown the footage to give their informed opinion.

My cat's also made it a habit to sit beside me and groom herself, and then also groom whatever nearest exposed body part i have. Idk why she decided to do this, nobody's taught her to do it and we don't have other cats to also groom but it's a habit now ig

I've left a comment that these cats should be separated immediately. The larger one treating the smaller cat like a toy. I would be worried about injuries, especially to the eyes. I don't know if this is the mother, an older sibling, or unrelated cat.

@@xino_z Mimi did in fact move away after barely a two-second sniff of the newborn. If she’d had the space to walk off and leave her, she would have. They finally had to dry the kitten off and heat it up . At six weeks old Kiki still literally could not find the right end/side of the mother, let alone locate a nipple, to feed, and neither owner nor mother helped out. Every single video ends with the kitten lying somewhere exhausted or crawling into the corner after failing to get a feed or get out ir get away frim the incessant licking. Despite all the hearts and flowers in the comments, Mimi has spent most of the time (what’s videoe’d anyway) alternating between ignoring, manically licking the kitten and doing this to it.
