This is unreal expectations for anyone just starting in the business. He doesn't mention how much he spent on paid ads (if any), and he likely has an existing mailing list or or social media followers which gave him the ability to sell this many shirts in 2 days. If you don't have an existing mailing list or social media followers, you won't sell this volume.

Charlie I think it would be beneficial for the community, when designing, to understand the finer intricacies of sculpting the art in a way that may favor dtg or screen printing or maybe even dtf. Just my two cents. I’m heavily involved in the screen printing industry and would hate for everyone to limit themselves just to Bella canvas.

With ring spun, you're going to have more issues with fibers lifting in your print. Can be dealt with, for sure, like with a smoothing screen. Yes, softer to the skin, but more challenging with printing. Yes, I'm a screenprinter. Also, gotta ask: aren't you concerned about copyright/trademark infringement or hoping, going with the approach of Parady and just crossing your fingers that with a quick hit (the two day sale you did ) that you'd be in and out before you'd get caught? thanks

Some (hopeful inspiration for you): 1) Everyone starts as a "hobby" artist & only through perseverance do you get to become a "full time" artist. 2) Until you put your art out there for sale in some way, you will never know. 3) Even if your art doesn't immediately sell, you will learn something from the process. 4) Nothing is stopping you from taking everything you've learned and trying again.

Anytime. I would say using faces is of public figures is always going to be a risk. There are certain things you can do to change material up but that risk will always be there. Copyright law is super complicated at times.

It really comes down to just making sure something is different enough. You Never want to take images and print them as is unless the photos are free for commercial use. Etsy had 0 issues with the design and it passed all copyright checks.

Can I check one other thing I saw you used a RGB profile, I am starting out and using Redbubble as my platform as have been rejected from Merch by Amazon. They are saying I need to use CMYK profile, then export out to PNG with RGB profile. Do you have any advice on this for a newbie like me? Spoken to Apliiq and getting there but need to setup my store first and feel a bit daunted as not sure how to use Shopify. Thanks.

Your dtg prints from apliiq look great. I made sample orders 3 separate times with them on Ts and hoodies and the dtg white-on- black is horrible. Idk what to do with them. I feel like they do that on purpose to get me to pay for screen printing

People make merch based on people that aren’t alive all the time. Look at Tupac, Bruce Lee and others. You are aloud to feel the way you do but I respectfully disagree. Also 0 copyright issues because I made the design my own. Gotta educate yourself on copyright it’s super important.

The Queen’s image is copyrighted/trademarked. So are Tupac’s and Bruce Lee’s. Those who sell merch with their images either have expressed written consent from their estates or are doing so illegally.

I've been a fan of Charlie for a long time, and I won't tell him how to run his business, but it's honestly a bit odd for him to say "educate yourself on copyright" when he's actually breaking those laws himself and spreading misinformation. I'm sorry Charlie, you are incorrect on this one, and if you don't believe me, talk to literally any copyright attorney in the US and they will confirm that.
