Gown was sewn on a Babylock Soprano with all the embroidery done on a Babylock Venture!
In this video, I do a deep dive into a 1901-1905 dress by Jacques Doucet's Bee Gown, as well as other gowns in that era. I also talk about how I used an 1885 pattern to make the gown itself. All the sewing, digitizing, machine embroidery was done by me!

When knitting patterns I always trow in an "oddity" one figure in a diffrent posision, color or looking in a diffrent direction. I usually doesn't show if one isn't looking especially for it but it makes me happy. Only a few people have catched on to my "find the od one out" game.

Chunky bees and improved Asian clouds were excellent calls. This is an exquisite gown which looks like it was plucked out of a museum exhibit. However this gown can go out, be seen dancing and enjoying a gala. My personal gown dreams are any that can move with the wearer. Bodycon dresses can be attractive, but they don't waltz very smoothly.

I love the cut of the neckline and sleeves. I may give this one a shot. I always feel like historical gowns are beautiful, but unwearable or costume-y for regular use. This dress is one that I could envision wearing it to a normal event (provided that the normal event called for a dress made of a million yards of white silk.) Also that business you did with the embroidery on the back to make it look like an appliqué was so smart!

Christine, you look beautiful in this glorious gown! I adore the bees and clouds in your version so much more than the original. I'm happy that we got to see the day bodice first. Omg that is so stunning 😍. Im currently knitting a jumper with bees on it - a fun coincidence! 😁. You certainly deserve a big rest after all that work. But it all turned out so beautifully, especially the embroidery 🪡. Looking forward to seeing the hat! If you wanted to include the blue bees you could always make a little bag to match the dress with a mix of the yellow and blue bees on it? Good luck on the unpacking lol!! 😆.

Just curious if you would consider adding a bone or two to the back of the bodice and/or a hook and bar to connect the bodice and skirt? To keep the back of the bodice neater and properly tucked inside the skirt waistband?

Okay, first of all, that dress is STUNNING!!! 😭 And B) there are blue bees?? I wonder if their blue is also an optical phenomenon rather than pigmentation, like that species of butterfly whose wings are actually colorless by reflect blue in the light.

Interesting that you found the bustline to be in the wrong place on the wrap bodice: an Indian friend was staying recently, and she said that European pattern-cutting doesn't fit Asian body types, because the proportions are different, and the European bustline is often too low for an Asian body. (She's from the Himalayan region originally, but wonder if it would also apply to Korean people?). Glorious work :)
