finally, after multiple years searching youtube for tyranid kitbash, I finally find a youtuber who actually kitbashes tyranids to make their own custom variants rather than converting one into another. You call it a conversion all you like, I'm just happy to finally see some inspiring designs.
I came for the Metal Gear Tyrannofex but I loved all of the conversations you came up with. As a Starcraft fan, I especially liked the Zerg Queen Tervigon.
Skill level over 9000 epic :D i really like your Hive Tyrant really cool killing deamon beast :D and Tyrannofex is so good beast of the model and you made it after Metal Gear Rex big plus
These conversions are sick yo!, and yeah, GW does a good job with the models but boy, the designs have so much more potential, like you are showing, including the lore. It would only be logical for tyranids, who can genesteal, hide, and be as their prey, to have technological stuff too.
I actually like the Maleceptor, but yours is dang cool as well. Your version of the Tyrannofex is way better. Also, you could convert some kind of Titan-grade Nid after Met Gear Excelsis, from Rising!
I like this video! Conversions were always THE thing for me when I was still active in the hobby and I wish warhammer youtubers made more conversion videos instead of just boring painting videos.
This was a fantastic video, thank you for showcasing the mix of Butov parts and the sculpting process. You have very similar feelings about some of the nids designs as I do so i cannot wait to really get in there and have some fun with the kitbashing!
@@WhatThe40kThanks to you I've begun my harpy conversion project, modeled after the Harridan but smaller. I've always hated the Harpy/Crone aesthetic and now I'm finally happy with my mid tier fliers!
Hah! Bugs are my favourite army in 40k, and the thing that got me into the setting. I've done two different armies and sold them because I don't feel like I quite got them "right". I'll give it another go next edition, I am certain. Your creativity is amazing, thanks for sharing! I definitely like the Zerg Queen best.
Tbh it was quite the exercise of effort, and after I was done, I didn't want to go back.😅 But I do plan on doing something with the bigger Leviathan bugs (at the very least reposes)... I'll consider capturing the process.👍
Just got into warhammer and was going to make a tyranid army with those colors and concept just not the same name till I saw this. Would you be ok with me just making an army based around your fleet and just give you credit for the idea when people ask? If not that’s ok and I’ll come up with something else
Warhammers unite :) Tyranyds probablyy have eaten warhammer fb arachnaroks, so, cn use their genes. Seeing this I think that maybe one day may craziest childhood idea of crossover could become reality. Godzifex - carnifex infused with godzilla dna, basically godzilla in carapace with additional limbs and jaws :)
ngl I am LOVING the Tyranid conversions! I am a massive fan of seeing what people come up with for new bio weapons and this is awesome stuff. amazing work on Metal Gear Fex =3
While my primary army is currently admech, I've been taking some long hard looks at chaos and xenos armies to help bring diversity to the playing board.
Man, those are really unique-looking and striking. :3 40k really lets you just go "yeah, I like this, but I don't like this. Lemme fuck with it" and then with enough skill and green stuff you can fuck with it, huh. Very cool stuff.
Well this was a nice recommendation and initially i thought i might want to try some of these myself but quickly realised that my psykerbug was already based and the rest took sculpting skills i do not have and a 3d printer i do not own so i think ill hold of on them for a while. Great job they look awesome
6:28 okay, I'm stealing this, I've never really had a problem with the larger Tyranid models but you have gone above and beyond, I can't have it any other way, I'm coping your steps, I have been enlightened
As someone whom is considering building a Tyranid army seeing these conversions really inspires me even though I haven’t played Warhammer in almost 20 years.
I was debating a Hive Fleet Zerus sorta project as a side gig eventually, so that guide for the Zerg Queen/Tervigon conversion's gonna come real useful in future, I hope. The Metal Gear Rexigon is just awe-inspiring work though.
Love your conversions, that Tyranofex is so cool that now I'm kinda annoyed with myself that I recently built & magnetized a normal one, lol. I mostly copied your maleceptor design, & even unpainted it's easily the centerpiece of my army.
@@WhatThe40khave you done or have any ideas for a Tyranid Hierodule ? ive never liked the OG model on those and think you would probably come up with something much better !
Metal Gear Rex is a freaking classic, and I can't argue how you designed it, but if I ask, being that the Tyrianid model you converted is close to the base why not use the Shagohod model from MGS3?
Well tbh... Just because I like Rex's shape more, plus I can't help but connect the tyrannofex to the Carnifex and Rex's anatomy is better in that regard.
I'm attempting to kitbash my fex in the style of yours, and I'd like to ask how did you route the sculpting wire through the fully plastic bits of the model? i.e the Tibia section of his leg, was it drilled and the wire was fed through?
Hey mate, love the hive tyrant!, just bought the files and am a bit lost with how many there are. Would you happen to remember which chest, legs and tail you used? there's like 3-4 of each and my computer cant handle opening them all to look at
Hey there! Exciting stuff, on acquiring an awesome .stl... And I totally agree, the kit has so many options its a little hard to parse out (a first world problem for sure😂) Unfortunately though its been so long I can't remember which parts I used for my hive tyrant's chest, legs and tail. Though I do remember it was the one that looked the most 'basic'.
Back in 2020 I picked up the X-mas battle force for the nids. I already had a bunch of Ebay rescue gaunts and the start collecting, They mostly sat on the shelf until earlier this year where I finally got around to painting them, Grey skin - blue carapace, - Neon green soft bits. If id let them sit a bit longer, Theirs a damn good chance id have ended up just flat out ripping off your idea and style, because these are amazing, great work man.
@@WhatThe40k i only thought of that when i saw the rex-zilla from peacewalker again. pretty sure no man's sky also had some hammerheaded alien fauna in its ...i wanna say launch video? or am i thinking of horizon zero dawn maybe? cool aesthetic anyway, hammerhead sharks are awesome
I really prefer Tyranid designs that mix dinosaurian and mammalian designs. It's why I'm not a fan of that new Biovore. But I really dig your Maleceptor looking like a Trilobite.
Working on my own bio-titan, and this has provided a lot of inspiration and neat tricks - in particular, I struggled to make the legs work, and your trick with the wire will be perfect!
I really like the dotted transition between the colors. I do think though that the Neurithrope would gain even more by using the lightning colors on the exposed parts of its brain.
