My favorite part is probably the cherry coke paint on the trucks. Didn’t notice that different before until you had em side by side. So cool they built this!! Congrats “Our Friend Chris”!
As a life long fan of the MKT I definitely appreciate this custom unit! Grew up seeing them in their yellow-green scheme in the 80's and have the N scale heritage unit. Your channel has grown so much! lol i'm a little envious! lol. I don't run O scale but I may have to save up for one of these.
I think the colors look amazing, I love that the trucks are painted the cherry coke red too, it looks really cool. Your custom engine would look great running with Eric's custom engine. I love the little subtle easter eggs too. Great video and congratulations once again Chris.
Congratulations Chris! That is one beautiful engine. I love the color combination and especially the painted trucks along with the chain detail on the rear truck. The fixed pilots are really nice. If you ever decide to have another engine made you might consider adding your voice to the crew talk. Please keep creating your informative videos. They are a great addition to the world of O scale model railroading.
Chris, it has to feel really good to have accomplished this. That is a gorgeous engine and it is even more special because it is a unique RBP Trains creation (with a little help from Lionel and TrainWorld). One reason we all enjoy your channel so much is that you keep upping the ante. Looking forward to what you do next!
Congrats Chris!! 👏 What an absolute well-deserved honor! Your channel has inspired me in many ways. You are one of the main reasons I got back into the hobby. What you've done for the model train community can not be understated. You are a hero 🫡 - Ryan
Thank you for the kind words Ryan! The model train community continues to grow and it has been fun and exciting to be a part of it. None of this would be possible without the support of the folks who have been supporting this channel. Thank YOU!
A dream come true! Such great news, Chris, and an awesome response! This is real a big win-win for you and your fans and all collectors. Congratulations to you for your foresight and loyalty making this happen with the support of Trainworld and Lionel. The Katy RBP ES44 is a stunner to see and running on the layout. Wow! Two years and all these stellar accomplishments!
@RBPTrains Wow wow wow hold up!!!!! Is that the perfect grade astray?! Dude your into gundams aswell! Man you got to put them in some videos more! Even to make a gundam train load hauling each part! What other gundams do you have?!?!?
Chris, I have enjoyed your personal take on our hobby. I just got your new diesel and I like the color scheme. I was not following the Katy line but I found the red and silver MTH Rock Island passenger cars are a dead match to the base Katy red. They look very cool together so I now have a totally fantasy scheme line. I am starting my own permanent install so I will keep in touch. Again thanks for all you do for this great hobby. Duncan
Chris, So Happy I got one of your engines, it's terrific!! Love your channel and have been a subscriber from pretty close to your beginning. Its your amazing personality and creativity that sets you apart from all the rest. Keep up the great job your doing by inspiring all of do better work on our layouts. Next round of RBP custom equipment, lets do some rolling stock. Maybe a nice 50' hi-cube box car or tank car to start with. Heck, I'd buy a whole consist of RBP rolling stock. How cool would that be. Thanks from everyone who has every watched one of your videos. Even if they didn't subscribe, because your you they keep tuning back in. Thanks for everything Chris, your the Best!
Thank you so much Tim! Without you and the folks who have been watching, none of this would have happened! Caboose is on the way and more rolling stock to follow :)
Beautiful Engine Brotherman!! Your laying down the coolist sounds in town for all the cool cats kittens dolls lovers & true lovers too...aaaaaaaaaaaaaaakeepon rolliing BRO!! COOL MAN COOL!!!!! 😊😀😃😁😛👍👍 Howard&Jane Markham
Chris, great job on the color scheme. I am glad you explained the reason for the black color because that is not a color I would have chosen. It really looks great with the burgundy and red stripes! I had to look up the history on The Katy to learn it is a real train. I thought your wife's name was Katy and so you put it on the train and T-shirt! Lol!! All the best to you!
Chris this diesel engine looks so cool. I’m glad I got one. I think this diesel is the best looking one for this year. Keep up the good work! Great videos.
Turned out to be an amazing model! Now you should partner with Lionel again to make O Scale Chris figures for everyone to put on their layout😂 Great video! I really enjoyed it!
Congratulations, Chris. Just want to let you know that I got one of the RBP Katy ES44AC, And I love it. The color is beautiful. I don't have a layout, and this my first Lionel Legacy locomotive. And I don't have a Legacy controller so just set up a oval of fastrack on the floor and ran it with my lionchief app. It is great. Thanks for making my first legacy engine the best one yet.
Congratulations Chris! It’s really awesome you had the opportunity to design your own custom locomotive representing you and your channel. But really, Cherry Coke is your favorite soft drink?! Congrats again!!!
Congratulations, Chris. That's certainly one fine-looking engine. It pairs nicely with the other engine and with the cars you ran behind it. The only improvement would have been to put a miniaturized version of yourself in the cab. That would be the cherry on top, don't you think? Keep up the great videos. I thoroughly enjoy them.
Love it! So happy you got to do a special run for your channel wish my budget allowed me to order one but I’m sure I’ll get to see it run a lot on your amazing layout!?
Congratulations Chris!! This locomotive is awesome!! I am so glad I preordered one!! It is a testament to you and the great work you have done showcasing the fun that exists in our awesome hobby!!!! Keep up the good work!!!
At first, I wasn't sure about the Darker red. But now it has really grown on me. And now I think I like it better than the brighter red. Beautiful locomotive
I use: 72 diameter on the main line on the main level. 60" diameter on the inner main line on main level 89" diameter on the upper level (inner line) 96" diameter on the upper level (outer line)
The "Cherry Coke" engine, definitely goes along with the MKT Heritage unit and compliments Amtrak's "Phase III Pepsi Can" liveried locomotives (B32-8WH, P42 Genesis heritage unit).
Chris you need to do another!!!! All black, silver tank & trucks !!! Also trying a dark gray for chevron stripes might actually be a nice touch would probably be a hit being a SD70 as well !!!
Love the engine. Does Lionel do HO scale version? Love the Union Pacific Southern Branch a.k.a. M.K.T a.k.a. Union Pacific heritage engine. Great stuff but O gauge...phew you've have to have some impressive space to do 1:48 scale. Making me want to the get the Engine despite it being O gauge ...what am I saying...I'm a devoted HO scale guy.
The Engine looks amazing and I love the black and stripes. Congratulations! I had a thought about your names, If you're going to keep the Cherry Coke, Hot Dog names going, you should keep them with a Summer BBQ Theme. Black Train: Charcoal, White Engine: Potato Salad, Green Engine: Lettuce....
Looks really great. Love the colors. Another shade of red seems unimportant in light of the finished project. I know you've got to be proud. I would be.
Great looking Locomotive. I’ve read the comments on the forum and it’s just some complaining as usual. I think it’s absolutely beautiful Locomotive. Congratulations and keep supporting our great hobby. Our hobby is no not dying it’s changing for the better and for the future.
With the success of your first exclusive locomotive engine with Train World, do you think you would ever do another engine but maybe in Lion Chief +2.0?
Kongratulations on your Kustom Katy engine Kris! (Enough "K's" there for you? 🤣) Seriously, that's one nice piece of work, the colors support each other perfectly, you couldn't ask for better! Enjoy it! You deserve the honors!
I absolutely love this engine. I love the paint job and every thing about it, if I had a custom train it would be a 2.0 huson with the 765 whistle and the colors would be black and yellow. Anyways congratulations chris, you deserve it.
Great video. Beautiful engine. Just one suggestion. Since The Katy is the unofficial symbolic railroad of your layout and channel, you need to name it the Dr. Pepper. Dr. Pepper was founded and made here in Texas. It would fit better than Cherry Coke.
Wow wow wow hold up!!!!! Is that the perfect grade astray?! Dude your into gundams aswell! Man you got to put them in some videos more! Even to make a gundam train load hauling each part! What other gundams do you have?!?!?
Congrats Chris!!!!! Love the engine color!!! Mayb one day I may get my layout going. It has been very tough form me to do much. Money is not coming easy form me. But soon it will happen. I hope
As a son, grandson, and great grandson to MKT (Katy) employees, I feel it would have been best to have the true Katy colors green and yellow. Yes, the company used red at first. But, it used the green and yellow at the end and majority of everyone remembers the green and yellow locomotives and cabooses.
Congratulations on the release. I purchased both Katy engines today that you are running. Looking forward to the caboose and additional rolling stock. Thanks for the intro on the design. Good layout on colors. Jan
Hello Chris From RBP Trains that is a awesome engine you got. Are so I enjoy watching your o scale train videos I are so have o scale trains as well. Are so can become friends with you as well.
The half and half style on the car body of the locomotive reminds me of the #46 City Chevrolet car in Days of Thunder. It might not be the same colors but it looks similar in the livery style.
I would go for colors based of the b and o engines yellow and dark blue cause CSX recently did some heritage units and they did the colors of the Baltimore and Ohio
Kind of the reverse of what csx is doing with their heritage units. They have the bland one color cab with the colorful bodies, while yours is inverse.
I'd be mad does not look like RBP at all. This is your train and to me it doesn't represent your logo at all. Just my opinion if I was paying that kind of money to have a special train made for me I would be upset.
