Saw your first DC20 video, subscribed, and have been watching each video after! Great job, and I like your points. Even if I don't agree with some things, I have thought of some ideas for me and my group with DC20.
Man I love spending hours making a character. That’s fun for me lol. Thinking of all the different aspects and how it fits their back stories and how it would affect the mechanics.
Just noticed that you may have calculated your PD wrong. For monks it is 8+CM(1)+AGL(3)+2=14 Also I think you missed out on copying your (0) point minor ancestry trait for humans it is (0) Undying: You have ADV on Saves against the Doomed Condition. Unless of course you are saving it for when you decide to pick your second ancestry when you level to 4. But this has been really helpful! Keep up the great work!
Thanks for catching! True, I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed myself but I like the idea of sharing my experience with the system for others to see for themselves. Flaws and all!
I like your pdf navigation strategy. I get frustrated with using bookmarks, especially when going back and forth between just a few sections. I don't know why it never occurred to me to just learn the page numbers. Will definitely be trying this out! Found you through DC20, and subbing to stay around!
Glad you found something helpful! The best part is it only take 1 or 2 runs and you'll likely memorize several page numbers. It's more reliable than bookmarks and works on any device you use if your bookmarks don't transfer. Just be aware that most PDFs are offset. Ie, so have the ToC say page 9 but in the pdf it's really page 12 or something.
👍 The music is also actually really effective at carrying the awesomeness in your videos. ... Next step, I think, is to "show". You don't need to care about my input, but... I think direct a gameplay comparison (not a liveplay) of how a 5e Monk is in combat VS a DC20 Monk is. Audiences which aren't already convinced aren't going to sit through 30 minutes unless they've already caught the DC20 energy.
I actually wrote down the play by play of the mimic fight with intention to do something like that. However my ideas are getting well ahead of my ability to edit \ keep up! =)
I love your process. Both an informative and entertaining video. Both my wife and daughter are not great at math so when I share your videos to them in the future your counting on your fingers will be great for them to experience. One of my past challenges for sharing D&D videos to my daughter was the limited number of female ttrpg content makers. I greatly appreciate you as an inspiration source for my daughter. Awesome stuff. Thank you, Tori!
Wow! That's crazy awesome. Thank you! If looking for female ttrpg creators also try Ginny Di. She might not be everyone's cup of tea but I do like her and she's informative too. Just a thought to have some variety too =D
In my copy some of the hyperlinks don't work. And also I often use the page number system regardless of PDF because not even PDF I use is hyperlinked so the habit sticks from file to file.
Indeed I made few errors but I wanted the video to be half tutorial half the POV of just normal players going through it =)you know? Kinda like "what it looks like when your not a pro" XD
How my brain works: While you're saving the monk class features as a single page PDF, I saw a folder named "Kitty Pics" and I was immediately like "ohhhh kitty cat, I wanna see her kitty!" because pets are awesome.
I think you're either referring to the saved pictures of one of my cross stitch pieces. So maybe I'll show those in my next flosstube monthly update. Or you're reffering to the google drive saved pictures of a beloved cat that passed a long time ago that I didn't want to loose the pictures of. The cross stitch piece I called 'Kitty" is actually a memorial piece to said cat =)
I think if I were to make content for RU-vid it would be exactly what you're doing. I'm fully on board with DC20 and hope your channel grows massively because this is some of my favorite content. I'm going to try to make a Warlock who uses HP instead of mana for spells and then life steals it back! Hopefully that's a viable build in DC20 ha ha! Might need some healing spells somehow, but I'm waiting until the Beta is released before I get invested just in case something changes from the current Alpha version that affects the build! So stoked for this system! I'm quitting 5e next year and focusing on this!
Heyy! Under 30 minutes! Just like you said! Well, I just happened to make a monk/psion character for myself. It took barely more than 30 minutes. So, I'm super fond of that! I'd love to try it out sometime. (So, if you've got any DC20 games I'd love to join :D) right now, a lot of the Alpha information is all over the place. But I love how easy it is to basically grasp what you want to do. If there's a cheat sheet of some kind, that would be even easier. (And it would be really cool if there was a level 0 option!) I had my first DC20 game yesterday too! With a Ranger (Pirate-themed) Orc lady! That one only took me about 20-something minutes to make at level 1. It was awesome!
Me (the dm) watching my players fill in all calculations wrong and them be surprised they arent supposed to have 18 PD. LOL Dont feel bad everyone messes something up.
It is an art of the Sea Empress from Subnautica. Once of my fav games and the first game I streamed. Unfortunately I don't recall/know the original artist
@@tntori5079 it’s a slow, time consuming, self-doubt inducing, competitive art form. I heard the other day that most actors don’t get their big break until after 46 auditions. You make good content. Keep it up and it’ll pay off 😊
Hold on... I might be getting this wrong... I thought the Ancestry system worked in points (indicated by the number next to the features). I was under the impression that you had 5 points in total. So, you choose ancestry features up to 5 points. Then use the points you gain as you level to gain more features. Am I wrong here?
That is it yes. I cut out the part of me hemming and hawwing over various traits. I put human in the description up top as that's what I'd roleplay as (if I was a player) - and I pick the traits later and put 5 points worth in the features section. Some of the traits I picked are 2 point traits so there's not 5 total. There's 5 points worth total.
@@tntori5079 Yeah! The default options all add up to 5 points. So, when I was making a character in session 0 (the orc pirate lady) I just chose the default. I can't stop playing with it! Ended up making an angelbrorn gome. I've got the hang of the character creation enough to where I feel confident explaining it to a TTRPG noob.
