hey again! here’s my behind-the-scenes for how I created a national ad campaign for Grande Cosmetics entirely in my small edinburgh flat. this project took two full weeks of filming and editing to produce, and i’m super proud of what i was able to create in my little living room studio. this was also my first time working with dry ice, which was slightly scary but ultimately an excellent time.

I found you on TikTok and I absolutely love your videos and creativity! I'm a videographer based in NY as well and I've been looking to expand my portfolio by doing similar projects from home in my spare time. I was curious, when you get commissioned to do a shoot like this, do you get compensated for the props you buy (like syringes and balloons) or does this come out of your own pocket? Keep up the great work :) :)

Thank you so much, Hayley! It's so awesome that you're also interested in video, you should definitely try some DIY stuff at home! To answer your question, it depends on the client and their budget structure. For this particular client, their budget structure allowed for me to expense the cost of props, etc. on my invoice, in addition to my rate. This means props did not come out of pocket. However, some companies have an "all in" budget, in which they tell you how much they'd like to spend on the project overall, including props. In that case, it's up to you to source the props from this overall budget, which includes your rate as well. It's really important to ensure that the company's "all in" budget is high enough to accommodate both your usual rate as well as the money you anticipate spending on props. In neither of these scenarios does any money come "out of pocket" per se, but it is easier to dip into your own income with an "all in" budget if you don't negotiate your rate high enough to accommodate your prop spend. Sorry for the long answer, hope this helps! And thank you for your support! 💕
