I Made A NEW 2 PART Resin PUTTY! AND IT'S RAPID!!... A Video by Daniel Cooper
Here is a Resin Art video where I created a rapid 2 part resin putty/paste, this stuff really is SUPER STRONG!
Again, I am still in experimental testing mode with this but I can see so much potential, not just for resin art but for model makers or even woodwork repairs!
This stuff is crazy hard! What would you use it for? What shall we test for ideas?... Colors?... Mold Making?....Bonding? Let me know! The possibilities are ENDLESS!
Please do NOT experiment with products which may be dangerous if mixed with resin!

This so cool! I could see making fun Christmas ornaments and things, like the old flour or salt "clay" ornaments from back in the day, but these would not crumble into dust after a few years. I'm guessing you can paint on them, too. So many possibilities!

I have been on a wire sculpture workshop today. James, our tutor was saying we could use clay to add some detail, ie bird beaks, wing feathers etc. this would be perfect as it wouldn’t need to be fired! You are a genius! So many things it could be used for! Brilliant! 🎉🎉

Add graphite powder for conductive parts? Add to UV cure resin for UV cure putty? Add some lighter fluid or acetone for longer cure times? Add colours and mica powders for artistic effects? Add plaster of paris, marble powder, metal powders for different hardness properties? Add sawdust to make a wood filler? Add black powder for a big kaboom? Add salt or other soluble powder to make a more spongy putty?

If you have any resin dye, you could color each part a color that mixes to make a 3rd color. Make one red and the other blue, and you'll know they're mixed well enough when you have a consistent purple color. Great job, sir!

Giving this another couple of views...thinking out loud +so to speak!). What if...we mixed some cornstarch to just part A or B to make a pourable solution. Say, into a coaster just for easy experimenting. Would it make for a harder coaster than straight polyurethane resin? AND...make the super thick paste bits to create those 3D effects you mentioned! Wonder how hard it would be to color this.... Man, have I got a LOT of questions and ideas running through this old brain box!

I definitely will be attempting this, as I have created something for my son back when he was obsessed with Harry Potter! The stuff I had was "Mightypuddy". My son had a small purple handle pen that lit up with uv down a flexible tube. I attached it to a crooked stick, wrapped the wire around, covering all parts with the white puddy. This created branch effect, and I made sure not to cover the battery compartment. I'd painted the pen, once solid, in shades of branchy brown, then presented it to him before bed😂....he's 25 and on his own now, but he still has that light up wand, stored somewhere, but he was so thrilled and impressed ❤!😊

So now I need to buy some poly resin, Great! My question is how it would hold up out of doors. From door wreath decor to garden gnomes. Get out those frog and turtle molds! Got a few minutes? Roll some out to the desired thickness then cut into "bricks" and save for future projects, Then take your stash of bricks, paint as desired and make a garden castle or maybe an upscale birdhouse. Using the UV resin and clear PVA glue from a few videos ago, and a wire frame to make stained glass windows for the aforementioned structures. Oh, and another thing! I found a maker of scrapbooks and greeting cards that mentioned some other molds I didn't know existed. These molds are from Prima Marketing Redesign Decor Molds. These molds are used for adding raised designs to furniture, boxes, and chest. Very detailed and intricate. Worth looking up.

Doll repaint artists might have a field day with this because one could use it for pretty much everything that one might use Apoxy sculpt for. It's way cheaper to make. And, if it weighs less than Apoxy sculpt, that would be super helpful. Also, because it's white, it might take paint and pastels better than some of the darker colored Apoxy sculpts do. I'd be curious how well it bonds to polymer clay and other plastics and epoxys that, for example, BJD's are made out of. Like Monster High dolls and whatnot.

Just got some polyurethane resin last week, to play around with and try out. So now I'm heading off to my art room and give quick try. I'll be back in flash... 45 min later: It worked although I'm using Alumilite and it cures about 10 mins with the liquid form. The putty took about 10 min work time and about 15/20 mins to harderend even though I had paste close to yours, the putty was a little sticky. Tomorrow I'm gonna try Durhams water putty, mixed with the Alumilite, maybethe putty surface will be smoother than the corn starch was. I gotta say that the curing time with PU in liquid form is brutal ! I mixed it 2 mins flat and poured it about 3 mins and was turning white and stiff like boom. A bit of a learning curve me thinks.

This looks cool yet another thing I have to try. I think adding a hint of colour to one part will make it easier to tell that they are fully combined

This is basically a homemade version of Epoxy Sculpt except it's white instead of grey and I think it cures faster. 😮 In theory, it could be used exactly the same way as ES, as long as you work fast. 🤔 I'm thinking it could even be used for sink repair like ES often is, with less work in concealing the color difference later, lol. I'm more likely to use this for jewelry and mini sculptures though. Perhaps Christmas tree ornaments for my table top tree that's hard to get new ornaments for. 😅 I'm thinking it could also be good for large molds that you want to leave hollow to reduce weight and use less resin. I mean, if you roll it out into sheets and essentially create premade hollow boxes with it, you can easily insert them into a project or create a custom box for each project since it sets so quickly. Or if you have different sizes of the same mold you can use the smaller one to make a hollow insert for the bigger one. For example, your usual mold for testing has three sizes of hearts so if you rolled this out into a sheet and put it into the smallest one, trimmed it a bit under the rim and let it cure then put another flat sheet on top to create a hollow heart, you could later paint it and insert that into the medium or large heart shape that you used regular resin in. I mean, you probably wouldn't actually do that since those molds are pretty small but it's just an example, lol. 😁👍

Thanks, I haven't tried ES so I can't really compare but yes, in theory it has the strength 😊 Great ideas, love these! 😍🤩

That should do well in push molds. Also perhaps making fake rocks for terrariums/reptile enclosures.

This is so interesting. Theoretically you could use it for furniture repair, tool repairs, say if the handle of my favorite shovel cracked ... I would be able to fix it and get back to work in minutes ... that's if it bonds with wood. BTW, love those little black storage containers.

If it will bond to resin or eco pours the sky is the limit. I can see using polymer clay cutters cookie cutters etc. to make all sorts of embellishments for any resin or eco pours. Also how can you color it?
@daniel..cooper

100% 😊 I used mica on the image I posted in some groups as an example but need to test more colors moving forward
@vinkkt

You could leave it I bit more runny and use it instead of your hand cream on stencils and it will color the picture when you pore the resin over it. As in #186 - #190

This has so many applications, unlike the super glue bicarbonate of soda.. you have more time to mould it into shape… I’m wondering if it will mend the broken hinge on my plastic storage box.. hmmm tomorrow could be spent finding all those things that need fixing that s glue won’t hold or epoxy won’t hold its shape on! Now can we colour it, sand it? Will it work like wood filler , can it be painted.. I need to stop before my head explodes!,!
@daniel..cooper
@daniel..cooper 11 месяцев назад
It may do. It will sand fine, just wear normal ppe as it is resin 😊 color testing to come 😊

Just from that piece you made I see this being great for tabletop gamers who like to customize their stuff. Adding to pieces, and creating fully original bases, and even sculpting whole pieces I imagine. How well does it sand?
@daniel..cooper

Oh My Gosh! The things you come up with! Mind blown 🧠 💥 I cannot wait to see what you make out of this. One of my questions was already answered… it DOES stick together! I am wondering a couple things. 🤔 Are you able to sand it with sanding paper? Carve it with dremel? The first idea that came to me was putting it in thin fondant type silicone molds. Actually any thin molds. The thing is, the edges so that’s why I’m wondering about sanding. This was awesome as usual! 👏🏼👏🏼👍🏼🩷
@daniel..cooper
@daniel..cooper 11 месяцев назад
Yes, this will sand and drill fine 😊 will just need to make sure you wear ppe as for any normal resin or epoxy 😊

I wonder how mica powder would do in this putty. I’m thinking of small sculptors. Let it cure than dip it into a wet mixture of resin to make a motionless snow globe trinket.
