I Made a Racing Game with No Experience in 1 week! This is one of my favorite projects I've done in a while! Starting the week knowing nothing about Unreal Engine 5 and how to make a game, to a working prototype with my own car model from Blender, handling, race track & more!

I can tell for a fact this is the start of something special. I've never for a second underestimated your dedication and effort that you put into everything you set your mind to. That is why your channel has always had its place in my subscriptions. All I can say is - respect. Reminds me of an Unreal Engine project I made in 2021 and again last year. It was a racing game with obstacles like in Fall Guys, they were for 2 game jams. Great stuff BTW! Hope to see more content like this in the future!

@@Hazardous yeah, i learnt c++, by going on multiple courses and RU-vid tutorials, I learnt most of the stuff from youtube tho so courses arent really necessary

@@Hazardous Unreal (at least v4) isn't very good at handling C++, if you wanna keep going I recommend just sticking with blueprints as C++ can be a real pain when used with Unreal. Unless you are changing engines ofcourse.

Its awesome. Everything you learn and what you look for to make your car game. I love hot wheels games but i dont feel that they are on the level of like GOOD car games so im glad that theres people still trying to make some epic stunt car game. Hot wheels turbo racing was amazing its a good start to learn how to use stunt mechanics. Epic project men !

That blueprint based code stuff is what we call “spaghetti code” after a while you’ll try to do updates and fixing something will break 10 things, then going back and fixing all that will break some more. It’s great for making your first game, but it’s really hard to deal with years down the line

Just an idea, you could swap that hole-in-the-wall pass for a portal, sending you to another lane, as if the whole game was an obstacle course through dimensions. Imagine that it's cool to go through the portal and see all the modified scenery, with a different sky, etc... By the way, this whole jungle seems kind of prehistoric, if you like the idea of portals, that first race track could take place in the age of dinosaurs.

what you can add: start menu, more levels (shouldnt be hard as you have all the core mechanics), different obsticals being introduced as you progress though levels would be nice, more cars to unlock, settings page to change controlls and graphics, and a global leaderboard for each level could be cool.

wow really glad i randomly clicked on this video, i really respect that you pointed out some problems that you didnt solve and simply continued with the development because for anyones first game they shouldnt be striving for perfection, just make it good enough and finish simple projects. Great example of how to learn a new skill and impressive what you got done in such a short time while also going from a complete noob to completing a small start to end experience

Look up the "Stunts game from Broderbum." P.C , (80's) it had ramps, loops, cork screws, bank curves, and complete control of the scene. I think you have the makings of "STUNTS 2.0" This has some amazing potential . Add a couple of tunnels, and jump through Water falls? Cool stuff. Good video.

Nice to see I’m not the only who caught the Stunts aka 4D Driving vibe! When I worked on _Need For Speed (PS1)_ one day I was talking with Daniel a fellow programmer who did the UI during a race. I forget how it came up but he showed me the source code for Stunts. I was wondering _”How the heck do you have the source code?”_ not realizing DSI had programmed the game and Br0derbund had published it. DSI also made Test Drive 1 and Test Drive 2 which is why we were unofficially the “driving team.” Eventually EA bought DSI and renamed them EAC. Even one of the original designers, Brad Gour, was still working at EAC. He was responsible for rendering in NFS along with Laurent. Stunts was popular because it shipped with a track editor that was easy to use. I would love to see a modern remake someday.

What your overall plan on this project? How far you will go with it? Also personally I think that having sliding on high-speed turns is actually better than having full grip. One of my favorite game is Trackmania and it have different materials for ground and grass and dirt ground don't have much grip, so if there is section from asphalt to the grass and there is turn, you have to make a satisfying sliding into next road entrance. If you don't know this game, just look at YT videos about it. Someone like Wirtual have a dedicated channel about this game.

What tutorial did you follow for the vehicle handling? It'd be nice to share that info. Also, I'd suggest you make the track wider. Real race tracks aren't just a single lane wide and it'll make it easier for you to stay on the track :) Great video though, and you should feel proud that you made all this in a week. That's very impressive :)

i think you should remove the rotating obstavles and adding a place where you can start a race from would be amazing plus adding ai will make the game even more challenging
