Actually, if you combine all of Dapper's tracks made in this style and link them, maybe even side-to-side to create a grid, the result will make a pretty terrifying backrooms where nobody knows how to get the hell out of there
Oh, Dapper, I just had the most EVIL idea! Make a track with what looks like great shortcuts, but taking them triggers pressure plates like these that BLOCK the finish. So the only way to finish is NOT to cheese the track. 😈🙊
And for more evil, make a single _very_ specific path that gets you a 1 second time or something ridiculous, and make sure it is as convoluted as possible.
He's done this already. Kinda. At the start of one of his tracks, you had to wall ride or the shortcut got blocked by a rockslide. So the mechanics are there.
OR make the trigger first block the initial finish portal and THEN raise the second finish portal from underground at a much shorter distance. OR make multiple switches for a confusing multipath track.🤪
Oh that snipe at the end was beautiful! Also, nice contraptions, could you make one requiring multiple trigger to fire so there's no clue they've got anything without getting the next one as well?
I would imagine that multiple triggers would work if you have several points where the hay bale gets stopped and each trigger removes one of those points.
I actually really like the "tan and green" tracks because of the fact that there could be cheeses hidden anywhere and it's fun to watch everyone try to find them in 10 minutes. Plus, this track tricked everybody because the two more obvious cheeses were not even used in the fastest runs.
Now you just need to start making logic gates with pressure plates. And, Or, Xor, Not, Nand, Nor, and Xnor gatescould be used to further complicate the shortcuts
Really cool idea! I find haybale mechanisms really interesting, so I hope you make more use of them in the future. I actually once made a lap counter for making multilap tracks. If you need I could send you the link to the workshop page, maybe you can use the mechanism for a multilap shortcut (for example a shortcut will only unlock after the first lap). It makes use of a counting mechanism so it could also work as an AND gate that requires more than 1 input (up to probably an infinite amount of inputs, as long as the inputs aren't too close to eachother)
This was awesome. Great job. Here's an idea for you that might be fun for the crew. What if you built another one of these complex mechanical short cut tracks EXCEPT you had it all in plain sight. No photomode still but the idea would be they could see what's going on but they have to figure out how to trigger the right logic to do what they want. A bunch of clear invisible blocks, windows, etc... "I see a window with a hay bale and some boosters, what if I wall ride here... okay! It triggers this and something happened over there... " However, sometimes if you trigger the wrong thing it blocks other things. The game becomes 1 - figuring out how to unlock each part and 2 - the order to do them in and 3 - finding the optimal route to do that in. And it's all hidden in plain sight. So yah, good luck!
Dapper you should make a track where the pressure plate opens up the finish. Watching everyone freak out just trying to learn how to finish, then you can sneak in with the cheese as soon as they figure out how to finish.
If you notice at 10:00 Roadfreak doesn't hit the second trigger. This is because at 12:00 there is already a haybale triggering the wall, so hitting that trigger is unnecessary.
I made a track for my friends to play on, but what my friends don't know is that there's a shortcut that opens up of you punch in your credit card information. Enjoy.
Dapper you could do a cheese where it is hidden and once you reach it, it launches you in the air and at a certain altitude there is flying mechanics and you could fly above the whole course and have a secret finish or land at the normal finish
That's some really cool stuff- sorry bout your luck you missed so many finishes by just a little... wasn't there a command to deliberately ragdoll though? Seems a few of those you could have launched yourself before missing the finish
You should place a solid wall right behind a pass through wall, that way from the outside it would look like someone found a cheese but in reality it’s a troll.
Could you do the reverse? Can you delete walls? So here's the idea: You have clear two routes and one is clearly faster. What people don't know you have the choice of shortcut or normal path before that. Taking the short cut removes the faster path forcing you to take longer path. Idea is to force people to try which path is faster, taking short cut with longer route or skipping shortcut and taking the faster path 😁 Can you delete a bridge? that would be easy way to handle it. You could also delete the tilt block which releases a rock slide over the shorter path blocking it 😁timing it in a way taking shortcut allows you to see the cave in would be amazing. like coming fort short cut and seeing wall of rocks sliding down blocking the shorter path 😂 The one thing is YOU would make a SKIP where you can wallride over the pressure plate which is the intented skip but because everyone thinks that doing so triggers another thing that blocks all the skips but first skip and fast path are now avaible and you can do that at anytime 😏 this allow third option where at least the last one should be skipped over but is it faster to skip 1 2 or 3 ? making 3 short cuts with 3 following paths that alter 😁 Big map project for someone who owns the game and is up for challenge. Perhaps just stupid idea?
With how crazy people get with the lack of photo mode, I wonder what would happen if you made a completely normal track with like, 1 kinda obvious skip like the jump here, and then just took away photo mode.
Make a turn with walls but the inside wall is go-through so when you drive you can just turn a bit more and you take the shortcut but nobody following you will be able to follow you, they will just be following you and then comes the turn and you are gone.
what if you make a track that's exactly the length of the timer and make a shortcut that makes the map possible to finish in time, then it's impossible for dapper to not win
