Got a lot of CPD fry already; actually they are adults now. Kubotai was a lot harder to spawn but I got a couple of eggs and fry few days ago after slowly changing their water to a mix of RO and tap water. Their eggs are soooo tiny; I would say 50% smaller than CPD eggs.
@@IMaqua Kubotai look so similar to ember tetras I never would have guessed they were totally difference species. CPD eggs are surprisingly big for tiny tiny fish.
I just had them spawn the other day. I got them in February; so I had to grow them out first. After that I tried breeding them in tap water only but that didn't work (as I suspected). So I slowly transitioned them to a mix of 75% RO and 25% tap water. I did this over a course of 3 weeks with each water change I added more and more of the RO-Tap mix. I stained the water with tannins. I feed them heavily with BBS 3 times and week and that did the trick. Their eggs are photosensitive but I managed to hatch 10 little fry in darkness. I still have to see how often they spawn. Their eggs are so small and the water is full of tannins that it is hard to see them. I also added a spawn mop and they like depositing their eggs there and that it a good thing. I will do a video about the whole process when I feel am "Kubotai master".
This is so exciting! I love when you have babies! Although they are so small I can’t believe that you can even see them😂 Also I had to watch this twice, I got so relaxed the first time that I fell asleep. Your voice and the music and the sounds of the water… It was so lovely it just knocked me out. And then I realized that I didn’t have any idea what actually happened in the video😂 Those little breeding boxes are really interesting, I never thought about how you keep the eggs safe if the parents want to eat them. Thank you for sharing your hard work and these beautiful videos with us!
I still have one of those breeding boxes lying around from who knows when ( a long time ago). 😅 I never thought about drilling holes in the floaty parts and letting it sink like this; that's pretty clever. 👍
I don't know if mine eat their own fry but these are found in one chamber of my sump. So far I got 7 babies swimming in it. I feed them once there and I'm breeding now the 3º generation of celestial danios
I don't think you can have success with both fish in the same tank. Microdevario kubotai needs a soft RO water and I was breeding CPDs in tap (hard) water. They can't crossbreed.
