Its currently 7:00 in the morning, and I've just finished watching this... Yesterday was very tough, mentally and emotionally. A dread about my life situation has almost set in. I didn't let it however. Im fighting so hard in my life not to give up I was up all night, unable to sleep, in much mental and emotional pain and turmoil Eventually after several hours of trying and failing to fall asleep, I got up to prepare some food While eating I like to watch RU-vid usually, and was planning to finish watching your hero mode chapter 1 and 2 demo vid so I clicked your channel However this video caught my eye and i started watching Thoroughly enjoying the vid, you get to bone tail and my favorite P5 song starts playing I get super hype, and through some insane blessing, i noticed my volume was not full which i usually make sure is full to listen to music, turn it up and feel goose bumps as Mario and Goombella stare down Bonetail All the hype is too much for me and tears start spilling out At certain points it becomes a bit much, and i literally start speaking to God to ask him to please have mercy on my poor soul 😭 It was too much but eventually i was able to calm down a bit The part with the flower bingo was was so perfect that tears exploded from my eyes once again when you hit the flower 😭 At the end i was bawling and the last fire drive and the edit of it just made me laugh so hard, tears still coming I just want to say thank you Kappy Life has been discouraging me a lot recently, but this extravagant experience you've prepared for me tonight, for all of us, is a Heaven Sent blessing. Im not sure you realize how much content creators like yourself are appreciated man (tearing up once again as i type this 😭) I'm so motivated and feel so wonderfully blissful after that... Please continue to make content... Im a smol content creator myself. this was a crazy good video!! i’ve recently been on a paper mario kick and to see a crazy challenge like this get fully detailed like this is really cool. if you decide to do more videos like this, i’d love to see it happen!! tbh i’d even be willing to help if there’s anyway i can outside of just watching LOL i’ve been really interested in challenge running, i think i might try something small like pre-hooktail pit or something like BP only but i wanna be able to get to this sort of level and complete something super hard like this sometime!
I have never once even made it to Bonetail (I think the farthest I ever got was level 88, CURSE YOU, ARANTULAS!), so just seeing someone get there and beat him is impressive, but what you did, especially under the conditions the game made you suffer through, is truly amazing. There are no words to describe your skill level and perseverance.
Getting to Bonetail isn't that bad if you focus just about all/most of your level ups into BP since there are many diifferent badge/partner/special move strategies that can break the game. It's just that the game doesn't really push you towards experimenting throughout the game which is why many kids including myself got stuck on the Shadow Queen.
Kappy, just wanted to say I came upon your channel somehow and glad I did. Love your content like this where you talk through and narrate challenges of this awesome game I grew up with. Had me laughing throughout with the edits and commentary keep it up man!
Congrats to you! I've attempted the same challenge this year and made it all the way to floor 96 only to miss 3 superguards to poison puffs. I ended up using way more life shrooms than I would like to admit in the 80s. Also, these video-essay styled videos are so satisfying to watch so definitely DO make them. P.S. do you think an Ice Storm would be a viable option for the pit?
Thanks! Ice Storms are actually pretty good for Poison Puffs, but I'd limit it to 2 for the two potential 4 Poison Puff loadouts if you decide to bring them LOL

Long ago, I did Pit of 100 Trials on several tries and the ONLY run that got me all the way to Bonetail took me HOURS. I knew then that I had to beat it or else start all over again and that was fracking TENSE. I beaten it on first try and was out of my mind that I did. So... yeah, I don't think I could ever do this challenge, I would go MAD within the first 20 levels. So much kudos to you for doing this so I wouldn't want to myself. That gotta be nerve-whacking as hell, I can imagine.
HOW DID I NOT SEE THIS UNTIL NOW THIS IS SO GOOD i honestly mean it when i say this might actually be my favorite youtube video i've ever seen. even knowing what's gonna happen cause i watched the run years ago i still felt just as excited and nervous as i did the first time. in a lot of ways i would not be who i am now without this game and this run. watching this run was what got me interested in speedruns and challenge runs in not just this game but others as well. it completely changed the way i think about games and gave me a huge interest in the technical aspect of games. i know jrpgs aren't the most popular genre these days but i'll never get tired of pushing combat systems to their limits and seeing what can be done. your streams and fatguy's streams have brought me insane amounts of comfort over the years and i've never felt like i belonged more than i do here. even if i'm more into xenoblade these days i'm always gonna have a huge soft spot for this game and 64 and even the later ones. i even have a soft spot for sticker star in a weird sort of way. super good video man i can't wait to see what the future holds for this game :)
I hope that in the remake we have new glitches/exploits/changes is that what you access Chet Rippo in prologue or pre-chapter 1. Then there can be 5 hp runs 😅

Just a friendly warning, one of the secret superbosses in that game has a brutally strong preemptive attack that wipes out almost all of the party’s total hp.
When Mario or Goombella are in Danger/Peril, your Star Power gain gets boosted, so using Tattle recovers way more than an Appeal would in those scenarios. It also rolls BINGO slots so my chances of getting BINGOs are higher!
but that begs the question? why would mario go so far off the beaten path as to complete a 100 floor trialdungeon while peach is in trouble? and this isnt the first time either. special world way back in super mario world? maybe he knows deep down that peach is using him? or he wants to see the world swallowed by darkness? or perhaps bonetail is a contingency against the shadow queen? it IS stronger than her. and who says it'll remain loyal to her?
You're right in saying you shouldn't doubt yourself, because then you will not see what you're truly capable of. I remember studying your and Koop's runs for like a week, it was worth it.

I just completed this game casually for the first time a few days ago after never beating Ch. 7 as a kid. This is absolutely insane. Also, what's the purpose of the tattle on bonetail?
Using Tattle has 2 distinct uses in the Bonetail fight for this challenge. 1) It rolls BINGO slots, meaning I have a higher chance of getting BINGOs. 2) When Mario and/or partner are in Danger/Peril, you get extra Star Power, and since Tattle has a Stylish, you can get a ton of extra Star Power when Mario or Goombella hits Danger/Peril to potentially get another Sweet Treat immediately after using it, which can help mitigate Bite RNG/missed Superguards
Sick run i haven't played thousand year door in over at least 10 years one of my fave childhood games and i never beat it lol i got stuck on the shadow queen as a kid, im def gonna be getting a switch sometime and get the remaster thats coming been having a itch to play it for years now lol. What version of early game pit should I try if I think I’m pretty good at the game, but I’ve never done a challenge run like that. Best I’ve done is level 1 full game run.
Both Mega Rush & Mega Rush P are unavailable this early in the game. Mega Rush P is available in Chapter 1, and Mega Rush is available after Chapter 1 is completed.
Don't most of the "best players in the world" say to do BP only? I know it's different for the pit challenges, where you couldn't go grind badges unless they drop from the underground enemies, or get any of the really good late-game badges/all partners except a goomba, but if you're doing the pit in postgame anyway, as most people do, then you would still only have BP, if you listened to them. And of course you're gonna listen to them because they're the "Best players in the world". And even then, if you remember HP and FP pluses, most people won't have the time to grind HP Plus and FP Plus badges, so would just try it anyway, right? (This is an actual question.)
This is an insane comment lol, have you done this? Where’s your documentary? I love TTYD and have been playing it for many years, players like Kappy and Koop are pushing this game way beyond the boundary. Having lots of BP does not equal an auto win without upgraded partners, danger and peril strats, etc. Not to mention he doesn’t even have access to a lot of the truly broken badges in this game either due to ruleset or because it appears later in the game. Depending on how broken some things (e.g Simplifier) are in the remake though, and if they add anything, it might just become a lot more accessible.
